  • This paper presents a novel charge pump scheme that combines the advantages of Fibonacci and Dickson charge pumps to obtain 30 V voltage for display driver integrated circuit application. This design only requires four external capacitors, which is suitable for a small-package application, such as smart card displays. High-amplitude (<6.6 V) clocks are produced to enhance the gate drive of a Dickson charge pump and improve the system's current drivability by using a voltage-doubler charge pump with a pulse skip regulator. This regulation engages many middle-voltage devices, and approximately 30% of chip size is saved. Further optimization of flying capacitors tends to decrease the total chip size by 2.1%. A precise and simple model for a one-stage Fibonacci charge pump with current load is also proposed for further efficiency optimization. In a practical design, its voltage error is within 0.12% for 1 mA of current load, and it maintains a 2.83% error even for 10 mA of current load. This charge pump is fabricated through a 0.11 μm 1.5 V/6 V/32 V process, and two regulators, namely, a pulse skip one and a linear one, are operated to maintain the output of the charge pump at 30 V. The performances of the two regulators in terms of ripple, efficiency, line regulation, and load regulation are investigated.

  • The IoT(Internet of Things) is based on the development of sensor technology and high-speed communication infrastructure, and the number of IoT connected to the network is increasing more than the number of people, and the increase is also very fast. In the field of defense, IoT is being deployed in various fields such as operations, military, base defense, and informatization, and the need is also increasing. Unlike the existing PC/server information protection system, cyber threats are also increasing as IoT sensors, which are vulnerable to information protection, are increasing in the network, so it is necessary to study the platform to protect the defense information and communication network. we investigated the case of connecting wired and wireless IoT to the defense network, and presented an efficient interlocking design method of the IoT integrated independent network with enhanced security by minimizing the contact point with the defense network.

  • In building envelope, transparent components play an important role. The structural glazing systems are the weak element of the casing in terms of mechanical resistance, thermal and acoustic insulation. In the present work, new structural glass panels with granular aerogel in interspace were investigated from different points of view. In particular, the mechanical characterization was carried out in order to assess the resistance to bending of the single glazing pane. To this end, a special instrument system was built to define an alternative configuration of the coaxial double ring test, able to predict the fracture strength of glass large samples (400 × 400 mm) without overpressure. The thermal and lighting performance of an innovative double-glazing façade with granular aerogel was evaluated. An experimental campaign at pilot scale was developed: it is composed of two boxes of about 1.60 × 2 m2 and 2 m high together with an external weather station. The rooms, identical in terms of size, construction materials, and orientation, are equipped with a two-wing window in the south wall surface: the first one has a standard glazing solution (double glazing with air in interspace), the second room is equipped with the innovative double-glazing system with aerogel. The indoor mean air temperature and the surface temperature of the glass panes were monitored together with the illuminance data for the lighting characterization. Finally, a brief energy characterization of the performance of the material was carried out by means of dynamic simulation models when the proposed solution is applied to real case studies.

  • This study investigates the aerodynamic characteristics of NACA series airfoil by altering the trailing edge in the form of extended and serrated sections. This contemporary advent examined NACA 0020 airfoil experimentally at the angle of attack ranging from 0° to 45° and for the Reynolds number of 2.46 × 105. To figure out the flow behaviour, the standard average pressure distribution over the airfoil surface is estimated with 50 pressure taps. The time series surface pressure is recorded for 700 Hz of sampling frequency. The extended trailing edge of 0.1 c, 0.2 c and 0.3 c are attached to the base airfoil. Further, the triangular serration is introduced with the base length of 2 cm, 4 cm and 6 cm. Each base length with three different amplitudes of 0.1 c, 0.2 c and 0.3 c were designed and equipped with the baseline case at the trailing edge and tested. The aerodynamic force coefficient, as well as pressure coefficient are presented. The obtained data advises that modification in the trailing edge will reflect the aerodynamic characteristics and the flow behaviour over the section of a wing. Resultantly, the extended trailing edge as a thin elongated surface attached to a base airfoil without revising the main airfoil favors good lift increment. The serrated trailing edge acts as a flow control device by altering the flow pattern results to delay the stall phenomenon. Besides it, improves lift co-efficient with less amount of additional drag. This extended and serrated trailing edge approach can support for designing the future smart airfoil.

  • Vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) is a core feature of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are commonly referred to as drones. In emerging smart logistics, drones are expected to play an increasingly important role as mobile platforms. Therefore, research on last-mile delivery using drones is on the rise. There is a growing trend toward providing drone delivery services, particularly among retailers that handle small and lightweight items. However, there is still a lack of research on a structural definition of the VTOL drone flight model for multi-point delivery service. This paper describes a VTOL drone flight route structure for a multi-drone delivery service using rotary-wing type VTOL drones. First, we briefly explore the factors to be considered when providing drone delivery services. Second, a VTOL drone flight route model is introduced using the idea of the nested graph. Based on the proposed model, we describe various time-related attributes for delivery services using drones and present corresponding calculation methods. Additionally, as an application of the drone route model and the time attributes, we comprehensively describe a simple example of the multi-drone delivery for first-come-first-served (FCFS) services.
