Wide-Area SCADA System with Distributed Security Framework

  • With the smart grid coming near, wide-area supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) becomes more and more important. However, traditional SCADA systems are not suitable for the openness and distribution requirements of smart grid. Distributed SCADA services should be openly composable and secure. Event-driven methodology makes service collaborations more real-time and flexible because of the space, time and control decoupling of event producer and consumer, which gives us an appropriate foundation. Our SCADA services are constructed and integrated based on distributed events in this paper. Unfortunately, an event-driven SCADA service does not know who consumes its events, and consumers do not know who produces the events either. In this environment, a SCADA service cannot directly control access because of anonymous and multicast interactions. In this paper, a distributed security framework is proposed to protect not only service operations but also data contents in smart grid environments. Finally, a security implementation scheme is given for SCADA services.

U-헬스케어 서비스에서 스마트 기기들을 활용한 안전한 키 교환 프로토콜 (A Secure Key Exchange Protocol Using Smart Devices for U-healthcare Services)

  • 다양한 스마트기기들의 발달로, 최근 들어 스마트기기를 이용한 U-헬스케어 관련 서비스들이 증가하고 있다. 하지만 U-헬스케어 서비스는 민감한 개인의 건강 정보를 다루는 것이기 때문에 정보보안이 매우 중요하다. 정보보안 이슈를 해결하기 위해서는 의료정보에 대한 암호화 기능이 기본적으로 제공되어야 하며, 이를 위한 암호키 교환 방법이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 스마트 기기들을 활용하여 안전한 U-헬스케어 서비스를 위한 키 교환 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안하는 프로토콜은 스마트 기기들에 적합하도록 비교적 짧은 키 길이로 높은 보안성을 제공하는 타원곡선 기반의 공개키 암호방식을 기반으로 설계 되었다. 또한, 키 교환 프로토콜을 수행할 때, 스마트워치를 보조 기기로 활용함으로써 사용자 인증을 강화하고 보안성을 높였다.

Electricity Market Design for the Incorporation of Various Demand-Side Resources in the Jeju Smart Grid Test-bed

  • Many countries are increasing their investments in smart grid technology to enhance energy efficiency, address climate change, and trigger a green energy revolution. In addition to these goals, Korea also seeks to promote national competitiveness, prepare for the growth of the renewable energy industry, and export industrialization through its strategic promotion of the smart grid. Given its inherent representativeness for Korean implementation of the smart grid and its growth potential, Jeju Island was selected by the Korean government as the site for smart grid testing in June 2009. This paper presents a new design for the electricity market and an operational scheme for testing Smart Electricity Services in the Jeju smart grid demonstration project. The Jeju smart grid test-bed electricity market is constructed on the basis of day-ahead and real-time markets to provide two-way electricity transaction environments. The experience of the test-bed market operation shows that the competitive electricity market can facilitate the smart grid deployment in Korea by allowing various demand side resources to be active market players.

An advertisement method using inaudible sound of speaker

  • Recently, there are serviced user customized advertisement of various type using smart device. Representative services are advertisement service using light of smart TV screen or audible sound of smart TV to transmit advertisement information. However, those services have to do a specific action of smart device user for advertisement information or need audible audio information of TV contents. To overcome those weakness, therefore, we propose an advertisement method using inaudible sound of speaker based on smart device. This method supports the transfer of advertising content to the smart device user with no additional action or TV audio signal required to access that content. The proposed method used two high frequencies among 18kHz ~ 22kHz of audible frequency range which smart TV can send out. And it generates those frequencies synthesized with audio of TV contents as trigger signal which can send advertisements to smart device. Next, smart device analysis the trigger signal and request advertisement contents related to the signal to server. After then, smart device can show the downloaded contents to user. Because the proposed method uses the high frequencies of sound signals via the inner speaker of the smart device, its main advantage is that it does not affect the audio signal of TV content. To evaluate the efficacy of the proposed method, we developed an application to implement it and subsequently carried out an advertisement transmission experiment. The success rate of the transmission experiment was approximately 97%. Based on this result, we believe the proposed method will be a useful technique in introducing a customized user advertising service.

  • 스마트 시티(Smart city) 구축을 위한 상호 의사소통 방법으로 차세대 디지털 사이니지(Digital signage) 기술로 주목받고 있는 텔레스크린(tele-screen) 서비스가 확산되고 있다. 최근에는 사용자의 주변상황과 사용자의 상태 정보 등을 수집, 분석함으로써 상황인지 기반의 양방향 커뮤니케이션이 가능한 인터랙티브 텔레스크린 서비스로 발전하고 있다. 이 연구에서는 스마트 시티 서비스플랫폼의 가치, 표준화 동향, 국내외 시장성분석 정보를 제시한다. 텔레스크린 서비스 기술은 수준 높은 행정서비스를 활성화시키고 나아가 국내 전자정부 기술력을 전 세계에 확산시킬 수 있는 계기를 마련할 수 있을 것이다.

Understanding the Characteristics of Behavior on Elderly Living in a Smart Home

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to find and propose the behavioral characteristic of the elderly at their living space through diary study. Background: Recent development of technology and the emergence of various IT devices is contributing to active research in smart home, services which considers the behavior characteristics of the elderly are still unable to be provided. Method: This study performed self-diary study method with ten households aged over 65 that lived in smart home. Based on these data collected from the diary study, six behavior characteristics of elderly were drawn. Results: The elderly were aware of their cognitive and physical limitations and showed fear. They are difficult to adapt in the state of the art. Their activities to acquire information were limited and were against changes, preferring to maintain the old ways. Conclusion: The result of this study, findings of behavioral characteristics of the elderly reveal that most of them spend their time on personal maintenance, socializing and leisure activities. Therefore, smart home services related to these characteristics should be considered as a top priority. Application: The results of the behavior characteristics can be utilized for planning out future smart home services and thereby contributing to increase in convenience and satisfaction of the elderly.

  • The recent technological developments of smart devices, multiple services are provided to enhance the users' quality of life including smart city, smart energy, smart car, smart healthcare, smart home, and so on. Academia and industries try to provide the users with convenient services upon seamless technological research and developments. Also, whenever and wherever a variety of services can be used without any limitation on the place and time upon connecting with different types of devices. However, security weaknesses due to integrations of multiple technological elements have been detected resulting in the leakage of user information, account hacking, and privacy leakage, threats to people's lives by device operation have been raised. In this paper, safer communication framework is suggested by device control and user authentication in the mobile network environment. After implementations of registration and authentication processes by users and devices, safe communication protocol is designed based on this. Also, renewal process is designed according to the safe control of the device. In the performance evaluation, safety was analyzed on the attack of protocol change weakness occurred in the existing system, service halt, data leakage, illegal operation control of message, and so on, which confirmed the enhanced speed approximately by 8% and 23% in the communication and verification parts, respectively, compared to the existing system.

IoT 기반 가스 원격검침(AMI) 플랫폼과 서비스의 실증 연구 (An Empirical Research on the IoT Basis Gas AMI Platform and Smart Metering Services)

  • 이 논문은 가스 산업 현장에서 사용하기 위한 스마트 가스미터링 (AMI)의 아키텍처와 서비스의 개발에 관한 내용을 기술하고 있다. 일반적인 가스 AMI 시스템은 스마트 가스 계량기, IoT 네트워크, AMI 플랫폼, 보안 및 운영관리 시스템으로 구성되어 진다. 제안된 가스 AMI 플랫폼은 스마트 미터링 장치와 AMI 서비스 간의 양방향 통신을 지원하고, 여러 타사의 가스미터와 이종 IoT 네트워크와의 상호 운용을 위한 oneM2M 기반의 표준이 적용된다. 제안한 플랫폼을 적용한 AMI 시스템의 실증을 위하여 약 2,900대의 스마트 가스미터를 실제 환경에 설치하고, 1년 동안 가스AMI 시스템을 가동시켰다. 약 94%의 가스미터가 정상적으로 동작하고, 원격검침 서비스가 어떤 에러나 고장 없이 안정적으로 운용되었음을 확인하였다.

  • 스마트 HACCP을 통한 기록관리 자동화는 센서를 이용하여 중요관리점(CCP) 모니터링을 함으로써 한계기준 이탈 여부를 실시간으로 확인할 수 있으며 알람기능 구현을 통해 개선조치에 이르기까지의 소요시간을 단축시킬 수 있다. 식품업체의 HACCP 업무운영 효율성·편의성을 향상시킴과 동시에 제조공정의 자동화를 통해 수작업에 대한 병원성미생물의 교차오염도를 효율적으로 관리가 가능하여 식품산업의 경쟁력을 향상시킬 수 있다. 또 종사자의 비의도적 실수와 데이터 위·변조를 방지할 수 있게 해 소비자에게 식품안전에 대한 보다 신뢰성 높은 믿음을 줄 수 있다. 이렇듯 스마트 HACCP은 정부·기업·소비자 모두에게 공공의 이익을 가져다줄 새로운 미래이다.
