  • The development in the field of the internet of things (IoT) have improved the quality of the life and also strengthened different areas in the society. All cities across the world are seeking to become smarter. The creation of a smart parking system is the essential use case in smart cities. In recent couple of years, the number of vehicles has increased significantly. As a result, it is critical to make the use of technology that enables hassle-free parking in both public and private spaces. In conventional parking systems, drivers are not able to find free parking space. Conventional systems requires more human interference in a parking lots. To manage these circumstances there is an intense need of IoT enabled parking solution that includes the well defined architecture that will contain the following components such as smart sensors, communication agreement and software solution. For implementing such a smart parking system in this paper we proposed a design of smart parking system and also compare it with convetional system. The proposed design utilizes sensors based on IoT and Data Mining techniques to handle real time management of the parking system. IoT enabled smart parking solution minimizes the human interference and also saves energy, money and time.

  • A smart parking management requires to track a vehicle in a indoor parking lot and to detect the place where the vehicle is parked. An advanced parking system watches all space of the parking lot with CCTV cameras. We can use these cameras for vehicles tracking and detection. In order to cover a wide area with a camera, a fisheye lens is used. In this case the shape and size of an moving vehicle vary much with distance and angle to the camera. This makes vehicle detection and tracking difficult. In addition to the fisheye lens, the vehicle headlights also makes vehicle detection and tracking difficult. This paper describes a method of realtime vehicle detection and tracking robust to the harsh situation described above. In each image frame, we update the region of a vehicle and estimate the vehicle movement. First we approximate the shape of a car with a quadrangle and estimate the four sides of the car using multiple histograms of oriented gradient. Second we create a template by applying a distance transform to the car region and estimate the motion of the car with a template matching method.

  • Due to the development of cities and the increase of vehicles, effective control of parking space management service in cities is needed. However, the existing parking lot management system does not provide limited or convenient service in terms of space and time. In this paper, we propose distributed parking space management service based on large scale LPWA (Low-Power Wide-Area). The parking sensor collects parking space information from the parking lot and is transmitted over a low-power wide network. All parking data is processed and analyzed in the IoT cloud. Through a parking space management service system in all cities, users are given the temporal convenience of determining the parking space and the area efficiency of the parking space.

  • The term parking management system usually refers to the custom built hardware intensive systems installed in building and malls. However, there are many places where such expensive solutions cannot be installed due to various reasons, like cost and urgent/temporary setup requirements. This project focuses on developing a parking management system based on image processing to detect vacant parking slot in an area where automated systems are not installed. Camera images of the parking area are subjected to image processing algorithm which marks virtual slots in the area and extracts occupancy information to guide the incoming drivers about availability and position of vacant spaces. The application consists of two interfaces: one for the guidance of the incoming drivers and the other one for the administrator. The later interface also informs the administrator if a car is not parked properly in the virtual slot. This parking system would reduce the stress and time wastage associated with car parking and would make the management of such areas less costly.

  • In this study, when another vehicle is parked in a designated space where a personal vehicle can park and a defined personal use time, an ultrasonic object recognition sensor is used to determine vehicle entry, and a camera sensor recognizes a license plate. If the vehicle is not recognized by the individual vehicle owner, the "private parking lot operation block" of the application server receives the individual phone number based on the National Police Agency's Vehicle Number Information Inquiry Open API. Afterwards, when parking is processed, the non-right holder receives the approval of the parking right holder, parks for the recognized time, and deposits the parking fee into the public account of the city hall. Through this study, it was possible to find an operation processing method that can most effectively manage parking in the city center in a private parking space recognized by the city hall.

  • Smart phones can be used in parking management to receive important notifications. An infrastructure based from such approach should consider message persistence which is currently supported through push notification systems. However, the broadcast method produces high overhead when sending notifications throughout the clients. This paper uses a filtering method to prevent unnecessary message overheads. The heuristic approach selects the mobile clients with corresponding preference values based on the notification tag values. The simulation result showed that the proposed filtering method was faster in re-establishing connections and had lower message overhead compared to conventional messaging frameworks.

  • In this paper, the management system for a bicycle station using 900 MHz RFID technology has been developed. Based on the several reasons such as environmental pollution, high oil prices, and the government's eco-friendly policies, a bicycle usage is increasing nowadays. Accordingly, a need for bicycle parking spaces has already been emerging and increasing around a bicycle station. But most of the bicycle parking system are operated by manually, and it causes somewhat inefficient. Therefore, this paper suggests an unmanned bicycle station using RFID technology. The proposed system is supported by the mobile applications that are operated in the smart phones, and which gives the real-time access to the information of bicycle station. The proposed system yields owners of bicycle owners the convenience and efficiency of the station management in order to maximize the function of the bicycle stations.

  • In order to prevent traffic accidents for children who are vulnerable to traffic around elementary schools, a school zone in the children's protection zone is designated, and parking and stopping are prohibited in this area as the vehicle speed is less than 30km/h. However, Korea has a disgrace that the death rate of children from traffic accidents is the No. 1 among OECD countries. Against this backdrop, this study aims to contribute to preventing traffic accidents and raising awareness of driver safety by establishing an illegal parking and stopping system in the child protection zone due to various road conditions in the child protection zone. As a research method, a plan to build a parking and stopping prevention system was presented based on major preceding studies and literature investigation and analysis. Through the construction plan, effects such as preventing traffic accidents, inducing smart drivers to drive safely, strengthening pedestrian safety awareness, and inducing driver's awareness of safety can be expected.

  • As the use of shared electric kickboards is rapidly increasing, there are many cases of illegal parking of shared mobility. In order to solve this problem, local governments are taking measures such as towing illegally parked shared electric kickboards, but user management is not considered and the methods are inefficient. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose a blockchain-based shared electric kickboard user management model. The shared electric kickboard is equipped with a camera sensor and GPS that can check the parking status, and when the user ends the use of the shared electric kickboard, information on the parking status is collected through the installed sensors and the shared electric kickboard company You can check if the user has parked correctly. In addition, trust points are given according to the user's parking history and incentives are provided according to the trust points, inducing users to return the shared evangelism kickboard correctly. The information is shared through the consortium blockchain in which shared electric kickboard companies participate, enabling integrated user management of shared electric kickboard companies.

  • In this paper, the antenna for parking management using wireless communication in outdoor parking environment was proposed. The proposed antenna was miniaturized by using parasitic element to reduce the size of the radiating element of the basic ${\lambda}/2$ microstrip antenna. The dimensions of the proposed antenna are $35mm{\times}35mm{\times}20.1mm$ that is 98.7% smaller than $309.1mm(0.46{\lambda}){\times}296.1mm(0.441{\lambda}){\times}20.1mm(0.029{\lambda})$ of the basic ${\lambda}/2$ microstrip antenna. The electrical characteristics of the antenna are 1.1 dBi at the center frequency of 447 MHz, an omni-directional radiation pattern on the E-plane, and $87.5^{\circ}$ of HPBW on the H-plane. The miniaturized ${\lambda}/4$ folded microstrip antenna using parasitic element has proved to be easy to mount on the wireless repeater, the sensor node installed on the ground, and the strop bar in the outdoor parking environment.
