소규모 지역의 자료기반 구축을 위한 Photoballoon 시스템의 활용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Utilization of Photoballoon System for Database Generation of Small Areas)

  • 대상 지역의 자료기반을 구축하기 위해서는 필요한 목적에 따라 신속하고 정확한 지형정보를 얻어야 한다. 일반적으로 지형정보의 취득에 이용되는 방법에는 지도, 위성영상 및 항공사진의 입체모형을 이용하는 방법이 있으나 대상지역의 크기, 영상의 공간해상력, 소요정확도 및 경제성 등을 고려하여 최적방법을 선택하여야 한다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 소규모 대상지역인 농촌 정주권사업 계획 지구를 선정하여 Photoballoon 시스템을 활용한 지형정보의 취득 및 기본도제작 방법과 지형공간정보체계의 공간 중첩기법을 활용함으로써 소규모 대상지역의 효율적인 지형자료기반 구축방법을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 수행결과, 대상지역의 정밀한 입체사진을 얻기 위한 Photoballoon 시스템의 최적 촬영조건을 결정하고 이에 따른 정확도 분석을 통해 소규모지역에 대한 입체사진 및 지형도를 신속하고 경제적으로 얻을 수 있었으며, 이를 이용하여 대상지역에 필요한 각종 계획을 수행함으로써 소규모지역의 효율적인 계획 및 설계에 활용가능한 자료기반을 구축할 수 있었다.

An Analysis on the Preference of Early Childhood Teachers in Horticultural Activities Based on Conjoint Analysis

  • Background and objective: This study conducted a conjoint analysis on early childhood teachers to find out their preferences in horticultural activities that are used as a means of education in early childhood education. Methods: For the conjoint analysis, five attributes of horticultural activities were selected. Attribute 1 was method of horticultural activities, divided into two levels: exclusive and integrated horticultural activities. Attribute 2 was object of horticultural activities, divided into three levels: fruit crops, vegetable crops, and floricultural crops. Attribute 3 was activity type, divided into three levels: big and small group, free choice, and outdoor play. Attribute 4 was place for horticultural activities, and divided into two levels: indoors and outdoors. Attribute 5 was time for horticultural activities, divided into two levels: 30 minutes and 30-60 minutes. The orthogonal design was used to extract 20 profiles, after which we conducted a survey on 320 early childhood teachers and analyzed the valid responses from 257 teachers. Results: The preference of early childhood teachers showed highest importance in object (29.1%), followed by activity type (23.2%), activity method (17.4%), time (16.1%), and place (14.2%) (Pearson's R = .591, p = .008). By level of each attribute, the importance was high in exclusive horticultural activities for activity method, big and small group for activity type, vegetable and floricultural crops for object, indoors for place, and 30 minutes for time. Conclusion: The horticultural program preferred by early childhood teachers is comprised of big and small group activities using vegetable and floricultural crops, carried out indoors for 30 minutes as an exclusive class.

Adaptive Color Snake Model for Real-Time Object Tracking

  • Motion tracking and object segmentation are the most fundamental and critical problems in vision tasks suck as motion analysis. An active contour model, snake, was developed as a useful segmenting and tracking tool for rigid or non-rigid objects. Snake is designed no the basis of snake energies. Segmenting and tracking can be executed successfully by energy minimization. In this research, two new paradigms for segmentation and tracking are suggested. First, because the conventional method uses only intensity information, it is difficult to separate an object from its complex background. Therefore, a new energy and design schemes should be proposed for the better segmentation of objects. Second, conventional snake can be applied in situations where the change between images is small. If a fast moving object exists in successive images, conventional snake will not operate well because the moving object may have large differences in its position or shape, between successive images. Snakes's nodes may also fall into the local minima in their motion to the new positions of the target object in the succeeding image. For robust tracking, the condensation algorithm was adopted to control the parameters of the proposed snake model called "adaptive color snake model(SCSM)". The effectiveness of the ACSM is verified by appropriate simulations and experiments.

  • A neutral particle beam(NPB) aimed at the object and receive a small number of neutron signals at the detector to estimate the mass of an object Since there is uncertainty about the location of the axis of the beam relative to the object, we could have aiming errors which may lead to incorrect information about the object. Under the two assumptions that neutral particle scattering distribution and aiming errors have a circular normal distribution respectively, we have derived an exact probability distribution of neutral particles. It becomes a Poison-power function distribution., We proved monotone likelihood ratio property of tlis distribution. This property can be used to find a criteria for the hypothesis testing problem.

  • Object detection and parameter estimation in point cloud data is a relevant subject to robotics, reverse engineering, computer vision, and sport mechanics. In this paper a software is presented for fully-automatic object detection and parameter estimation in unordered, incomplete and error-contaminated point cloud with a large number of data points. The software consists of three algorithmic modules each for object identification, point segmentation, and model fitting. The newly developed algorithms for orthogonal distance fitting (ODF) play a fundamental role in each of the three modules. The ODF algorithms estimate the model parameters by minimizing the square sum of the shortest distances between the model feature and the measurement points. Curvature analysis of the local quadric surfaces fitted to small patches of point cloud provides the necessary seed information for automatic model selection, point segmentation, and model fitting. The performance of the software on a variety of point cloud data will be demonstrated live.

  • In this paper, we present a real-time method to detect moving objects in a rotating and zooming camera. It is useful for camera surveillance of fixed but rotating camera, camera on moving car, and so on. We first compensate the global motion, and then exploit the displaced frame difference (DFD) to find the block-wise boundary. For robust detection, we propose a kind of image to combine the detections from consecutive frames. We use the block-wise detection to achieve the real-time speed, except the pixel-wise DFD. In addition, a fast block-matching algorithm is proposed to obtain local motions and then global affine motion. In the experimental results, we demonstrate that our proposed algorithm can handle the real-time detection of common object, small object, multiple objects, the objects in low-contrast environment, and the object in zooming camera.

  • An object recognition and restoration using ultrasound sensors and neural networks are presented. The planar arrangement of the sensor is used to reduce the interference effects between sensors. The SOFM(Self-Organizing Feature Map) Neural Network and SCL(Simple Competitive Learning) method are learned with the acquired data. Lab experiments were performed that the object can be recognized ed the resolutions of the object can be enhanced by using the small number of the ultrasound array and neural networks.

  • We present a method for transmitting 3D object information in real time in a telepresence system. Three-dimensional object information consists of a large amount of point cloud data, which requires high performance computing power and ultra-wideband network transmission environment to process and transmit such a large amount of data in real time. In this paper, multiple users can transmit object motion and facial expression information in real time even in small network bands by using GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks), a non-supervised learning machine learning algorithm, for real-time transmission of 3D point cloud data. In particular, we propose the creation of an object similar to the original using only the feature information of 3D objects using conditional GANs.

Efficient Object-based Image Retrieval Method using Color Features from Salient Regions

  • This paper presents an efficient object-based color image-retrieval algorithm that is suitable for the classification and retrieval of images from small to mid-scale datasets, such as images in PCs, tablets, phones, and cameras. The proposed method first finds salient regions by using regional feature vectors, and also finds several dominant colors in each region. Then, each salient region is partitioned into small sub-blocks, which are assigned 1 or 0 with respect to the number of pixels corresponding to a dominant color in the sub-block. This gives a binary map for the dominant color, and this process is repeated for the predefined number of dominant colors. Finally, we have several binary maps, each of which corresponds to a dominant color in a salient region. Hence, the binary maps represent the spatial distribution of the dominant colors in the salient region, and the union (OR operation) of the maps can describe the approximate shapes of salient objects. Also proposed in this paper is a matching method that uses these binary maps and which needs very few computations, because most operations are binary. Experiments on widely used color image databases show that the proposed method performs better than state-of-the-art and previous color-based methods.

거리측정이 가능한 단동형 수중 스테레오 카메라의 제어 (Control of an Underwater Stereo Camera Embedded in a Single Canister Capable of Measuring Distance)

  • This paper present the control of the image disparity of a parallel stereo camera and its application to an underwater stereo camera to enhance the working efficiency of underwater vehicles that are equiped with manipulators in seabed operation. The stereo camera consists of two parallel lenses mounted on a lateral moving base and two CCD cameras mounted on a longitudinal moving base, which is embedded in a small pressure canister for underwater application. Because the lateral shift is related to the backward shift with a nonlinear relation, only one control input is needed to control the vergence and focus of the camera with a special driving device. We can get clear stereo vision with the camera for all the range of objects in air and in water, especially in short range object. The control system of the camera is so simple that we are able to realize a small stereo camera system and apply it to a stereo vision system for underwater vehicles. This paper also shows how to acquire the distance information of an underwater object with this stereo camera. Whenever we focus on an underwater object with the camera, we can obtain three-dimensional images and distance information in real-time.
