중소교량의 지리적 특성을 고려한 무선 전력 및 통신 기술 기반 교량 장기 계측시스템 구축 방안 연구 (Wireless Bridge Health Monitoring System for Long-term Measurement of Small-sized Bridges )

  • 국내 교량들의 노후화 진행에 따라 구조물의 지속적인 안전관리를 위한 실시간 계측 기반의 교량 관리시스템이 필요하다. 현재 교량 계측시스템 기술은 대형 단일 교량의 계측을 중심으로 발전하여 유선을 기반으로 전원을 공급하고 계측 데이터를 수집한다. 하지만 산발적으로 분포하는 중소교량에는 위치적 문제로 인해 유선 기반 계측시스템을 적용하기 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 중소교량을 대상으로 무선 기반 계측시스템을 구축하는 방안을 제안하였다. 제안한 무선 기반 계측시스템은 기존 유선 기반의 계측시스템의 한계를 극복하기 위해 태양광 발전을 통해 무선 전원을 확보하였으며, LTE 통신을 활용하여 데이터를 송출하게 하였다. 또한, 교량 계측시스템의 관리를 위한 시스템 원격 제어 방안과 전원 관리 방안도 제안되었다. 제안한 계측시스템의 검증을 위해 실제 지방도상의 교량 32개소에 설치되었으며, 1년간의 장기 계측데이터를 수집하였다. 설치된 테스트 베드에서 80.6%의 계측데이터 취득이 가능함을 확인하여 제안한 계측시스템의 운용 가능성을 검증하였다. 제안된 시스템 구축방안은 지방도상 노후 교량들의 안전감시에 활용 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

The smart PFD with LRB for seismic protection of the horizontally curved bridge

  • Recently, number of smart material are investigated and widely used in civil construction and other industries. Present study investigates the application of smart semi-active piezoelectric friction damper (PFD) made with piezoelectric material for the seismic control of the horizontally curved bridge isolated with lead rubber bearing (LRB). The main aim of the study is to investigate the effectiveness of hybrid system and to find out the optimum parameters of PFD for seismic control of the curved bridge. The selected curved bridge is a continuous three-span concrete box girder supported on pier and rigid abutment. The PFD is located between the deck and abutments or piers in chord and radial directions. The bridge is excited with four different earthquake ground motions with all three components (i.e. two horizontal and a vertical) having different characteristics. It is observed that the use of semi-active PFD with LRB is quite effective in controlling the response of the curved bridge as compared with passive system. The incorporation of the smart damper requiring small amount of energy in addition with an isolation system can be used for effective control the curved bridge against the dynamic loading.

광섬유 센서를 이용한 첨단 구조계측 (Advanced Structural Monitoring System Using Fiber Optic Sensors)

  • Recently, the interest in safety assessment of civil infrastructures is increasing in Korea. Especially, as bridge structures become large-scale, it is necessary to monitor and maintain the safety state of bridges, which requires the monitoring system that can make a long-term measurement during the service time of bridge. In this paper, advanced fiber optic sensors for long-term measurement, setup techniques of bridge monitoring system and the assessment of measured data are introduced. Attached or embedded optical fiber sensors to structural members of small and big structures including Sung San Bridge are surveyed. For the Sung San Bridge, the responses of the fiber optic sensors by 30 ton weigh truck loads with various speeds ate measured. Monitoring system is also applied to the mock-up of bridges. The monitoring capability of the advanced fiber optic sensor system was confirmed.

파형강판을 이용한 지중-강판 교량의 시공현장계측 (Field Measurements of Soil-Steel Bridge)

  • The soil-steel bridges which were introduced in Korea recently are widely used instead of underpasses of highway or small bridges. This bridge is a kind of flexible buried conduit which sustain the applied load by the interaction with the backfill soil. The 6.25m din. round soil-steel bridge was instrumented so as to investigate the behavior of load sustenance, The axial forces and moments at the 7 locations around the metallic shell were calculated from the measurement of strains during backfilling. The maximum axial force and moment were compared with those of various design predictions. Finally, the stability of bridge was evaluated.

Static aerodynamic force coefficients for an arch bridge girder with two cross sections

  • Aiming at the wind-resistant design of a sea-crossing arch bridge, the static aerodynamic coefficients of its girder (composed of stretches of π-shaped cross-section and box cross-section) were studied by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation and wind tunnel test. Based on the comparison between numerical simulation, wind tunnel test and specification recommendation, a combined calculation method for the horizontal force coefficient of intermediate and small span bridges is proposed. The results show that the two-dimensional CFD numerical simulations of the individual cross sections are sufficient to meet the accuracy requirements of engineering practice.

Dynamic testing of a soil-steel bridge

  • The paper presents the results and conclusions of dynamic load tests that were conducted on a road bridge over the Mokrzyca river in Wroclaw (Poland) made of galvanized corrugated steel plates (CSP). The critical speed magnitudes, velocity vibration, vibration frequency were determined in the paper. The dynamic analysis is extremely important, because such studies of soil-steel bridges in the range of dynamic loads are relatively seldom conducted. Conclusions drawn from the tests can be most helpful in the assessment of behaviour of this type of corrugated plate bridge with soil. In consideration of application of this type of structure in the case of small-to-medium span bridges, the conclusions from the research will not be yet generalized to all types of such solutions. The detailed reference to all type of such bridge structures would be requiring additional analysis (field tests and calculations) on the other types of soil-steel bridges.

  • 현재 국내에서는 매년 평균 100여개의 교량이 붕괴되거나 심각한 피해를 입고 있다. 이들의 대부분은 홍수시 기초지반이 유실됨으로써 발생되며 다라서 세굴에 의한 피해를 줄이기 위하여는 우선 이에 대한 기초적 연구와 함께 교량설계시 예상되는 세굴깊이를 정확히 산정하고 이를 설계에 합리적으로 반영시키는 것이 필요하다. 그러나 세굴이 발생되는 물리적 현상은 많은 인자들이 서로 복잡하게 연계되어 해석하기에 쉽지 않으며 실측된 자료 또한 찾아보기 힘들다. 본 연구에서는 좀 더 합리적인 설계와 세굴에 대한 기초적인 자료를 제공하기 위하여 교각세굴에 대해 현장실측을 수행하였다. 실측대상은 주로 접근하기 쉬운 중·소하천을 대상으로 하였으며 세굴깊이, 교각폭 및 길이, 수심, 유속 및 유량, 접근각 등 세굴에 영향을 미치는 물리량들을 관측하고 측정하였다. 이들 자료로부터 현재의 국내 세굴현황을 파악할 수 있었으며 교량의 안정성에 영향을 미치는 인자들에 대한 분석을 행하였다.

  • Dynamic analysis and compensation design for an asymmetrical half bridge do-dc converter are presented. A small-signal model is developed using the averaging method. Based on the proposed small-signal average model, the open loop transfer functions of the power stage were obtained and used for the compensation design. All theoretical predictions are validated by experiments on a prototype converter.

휘트스톤 브리지 회로의 원리에 대한 이해 (Understanding the Principles of Wheatstone Bridge Circuit)

  • 휘트스톤 브리지(Wheatstone bridge)는 변형률 게이지의 극도로 작은 저항 변화를 측정하는 데 널리 사용되는 중요한 전기회로의 하나이다. 변형률 게이지는 변형을 측정하고자 하는 구조물이나 시편에 부착한다. 휘트스톤 브리지는 다양한 공학재료에 대한 정적 혹은 동적 강도를 시험하는 분야에서 많이 사용되고 있다. 일례로, 스플릿 홉킨슨 압력봉(split Hopkinson pressure bar) 시스템에서 브리지 회로는 응력파가 전파되는 입사봉과 전달봉의 동적 변형률을 측정하는 데 필수적으로 사용된다. 본고에서는 암석동역학과 연관된 실험실 실험에서 쉽게 참고할 수 있도록 휘트스톤 브리지 회로의 원리를 상세히 설명하였다. 특히, 쿼터(quater), 하프(half) 및 풀(full) 브리지의 회로배열을 그 기본적인 용도와 함께 자세히 소개하였다.

Study of central buckle effects on flutter of long-span suspension bridges

  • To investigate the effects of central buckles on the dynamic behavior and flutter stability of long-span suspension bridges, four different connection options between the main cable and the girder near the mid-span position of the Aizhai Bridge were studied. Based on the flutter derivatives obtained from wind tunnel tests, formulations of self-excited forces in the time domain were obtained using a nonlinear least square fitting method and a time-domain flutter analysis was realized. Subsequently, the influences of the central buckles on the critical flutter velocity, flutter frequency, and three-dimensional flutter states of the bridge were investigated. The results show that the central buckles can significantly increase the frequency of the longitudinal floating mode of the bridge and have greater influence on the frequencies of the asymmetric lateral bending mode and asymmetric torsion mode than on that of the symmetric ones. As such, the central buckles have small impact on the critical flutter velocity due to that the flutter mode of the Aizhai Bridge was essentially the symmetric torsion mode coupled with the symmetric vertical mode. However, the central buckles have certain impact on the flutter mode and the three-dimensional flutter states of the bridge. In addition, it is found that the phenomenon of complex beat vibrations (called intermittent flutter phenomenon) appeared in the flutter state of the bridge when the structural damping is 0 or very low.
