  • Experimental studies were reported on the characteristics of flows in a circular pipe in which ice slurry is flowing. This was mainly due to deficiency of conventional measurement techniques. In this report, the flow characteristics are quantitatively investigated by the use of PIV technique concerning the Ice Packing Factor(IPF) and the power changes of pump motor. It was experimentally verified that the power loss does not increase any more at a certain IPF value.

직접 수송 루프에서 아이스슬러리의 열전달 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Heat Transfer Characteristics of Ice Slurry at Direct Transportation Loop)

  • 원형 파이프를 유동하는 6.5% EG 수용액으로부터 만들어진 아이스슬러리의 열전달 특성을 분석하기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 장치의 시험부는 13.84 mm 내경과 1,500 mm의 길이를 가진 동관으로 제작되었다. 아이스슬러리는 시험부 주변에 이중관 형태로 만들어진 원형관 내부를 유동하는 온수에 의해 가열되었다. 본 연구의 실험에 적용된 IPF와 질량 유속은 각각 0 ~ 25% 그리고 1000 ~ 3,000 kg/$m^2s$의 범위이었고, 온수의 온도와 유량은 일정하게 유지하였다. 측정된 열전달량은 질량 유량과 IPF가 증가함에 따라 증가하였으나, IPF의 영향은 높은 질량 유량에서는 작은 것으로 나타났다. 낮은 질량유량에서는 열전달 계수의 급격한 상승이 15 ~ 20%의 IPF에서 나타났다. 마지막으로 측정된 열전달계수는 기존의 열전달상관식들에 의해 계산된 열전달계수와 비교하여 제시하였다.

  • As the integrated circuit device shrinks to smaller dimensions, chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process was required for the global planarization of inter-metal dielectric (IMD) layer with free-defect. However, as the inter-metal dielectrics (IMD) layer gets thinner, micro-scratches are becoming as major defects. Micro-scratches are generated by agglomerated slurry, solidified and attached slurry in pipe line of slurry supply system. To prevent agglomerated slurry particle from inflow, we installed 0.5${\mu}m$ POU (point of use) filter, which is depth-type filter and has 80% filtering efficiency for the $1.0{\mu}m$ size particle. In this paper, we studied the relationship between defect generation and pad count to understand the exact efficiency of the slurry filtration, and to find out the appropriate pad usage. Our preliminary results showed that it is impossible to prevent defect-causing particles perfectly through the depth-type filter. Thus, we suggest that it is necessary to optimize the flow rate of slurry to overcome depth type filters weak-point, and to install the high spray of de-ionized Water (DIW) with high pressure.

  • The ice slurry maker which can produce the ice slurry well for the ice particle in-flowing condition was revised. We removed the stagnant region at the top of the ice slurry maker, and IPF 40% could be realized. The IPF controller with 6 mm diameter holes at the bottom was designed. But the IPF controller with only 6 mm diameter holes could not control IPF in a pipe. This is because the ice particles at ice slurry flow exist homogeneously not only at the upper part but also at the bottom part. We changed the hole size of IPF controller surface using fine meshes and then, IPF in a pipe was increased by 70% when the hole size was $80{\mu}m$ and less.

  • The characteristics of lightweight cellular concrete has much influence on the compressive strength and flow from the design of mixture. This study is to investigate the characteristics of the compressive strength and flow for the mixture of lightweight cellular slurry. KS F 4039 was compared to the construction system and quality for lightweight cellular comcrete of floating floor. As the result of this study, the standard of the compression strength for target slurry have to lower and an upper limit of flow was judged to be 230mm

  • Considering the importance of the detailed resolution of the reacting flow field inside a gasifier, the objective of this study lies on to investigate the effect of important variables to influence on the reacting flow and thereby to clarify the physical feature occurring inside the gasifier using a comprehensive gasifier computer program. Thus, in this study the gasification process of a 1.0 ton/day gasifier are numerically modeled using the Fluent code. And parametric investigation has been made in terms of swirl intensity and aspect ratio of the gasifier. Doing this, special attention is given on the detailed change of the reacting flow field inside a gasifier especially with the change of this kind of design and operation parameters. Based on this study, a number of useful conclusions can be drawn in the view of flow pattern inside gasifier together with the consequence of the gasification process caused by the change of the flow pattern. Especially, swirl effect gives rise to a feature of a central delayed recirculation zone, which is different from the typical strong central recirculation appeared near the inlet nozzle. The delayed feature of central recirculation appearance could be explained by the increased axial momentum due to the substantial amount of the presence of the coal slurry occupying over the entire gasifier in gasification process. Further, the changes of flow pattern are explained in detail with the gasifier aspect ratio. In general, the results obtained are physically acceptable in parametric study.

  • In this study, Ice slurry generator heat transfer characteristics are experimentally investigated for the ice slurry generating system with scraper which is pneumatically operated. The ice slurry generator has the same shape as the vertical double tube type heat exchanger. Refrigerant is flowing in the outside tube and ethylene glycol solution in the inside tube. Refrigerant and solution water are parallel flow type which entering bottom of generator and leaving top of generator. The experimentations are conducted under the various test conditions such as compressor speed and cooling water temperature. For the above experimental conditions, heat transfer characteristics of the ice slurry generating system are evaluated in terms of the overall heat transfer coefficient and the heat transfer rate. And the experimental results show that the heat transfer rate of the system is increased as the compressor speed increases and the cooling water temperature decreases.

고압 저등급탄-이산화탄소 슬러리 분무특성에 관한 연구 (Spray Characteristics of a Coal Slurry with Liquid Carbon Dioxide)

  • There is potential method to utilize the liquid carbon dioxide ($LCO_2$) in coal gasification plants. The $LCO_2$ could be used to effectively transport coal particles instead of conventional carrier such as liquid water ($H_2O$) particularly in wet-fed gasifier. However, there is a lack of fundamental study on the atomization behavior of $LCO_2$ coal slurry under high pressure condition. In this study, the flashing spray characteristics of a coal mixture with $LCO_2$ was examined during a throttling process by using a flow visualization system. The spray of coal water slurry which is in the Rayleigh-type break up mode was significantly different. This difference indicates that the coal water slurry did not effectively transport the coal, as compared to $LCO_2$ coal slurry.
