심층몰탈파일로 조성된 항만구조물 기초의 안정성 검토 (Stability Analysis of Marine Structure Foundation Constructed by Deep Mortar Piles)

  • In this case study, under conideration of field situations, such as increase of water level, height increment of the marine structure, dredging and backfill, the stability analysis of sliding and lateral flow of the marine structure in OOOharbor was carried out, and foundation reinforcement methods was presented. based on the results of site investigation, the stability analysis of slope sliding and lateral flow was performed as following. In section BH-1, 2, the analysis was performed in two cases that the marine structure was heightened and filled, and not heightened and filled. In section BH-1, 4, heightened and filled. The analysis results showed that the stabilities of slope sliding and lateral flow in section BH-1, 2, 3, 4 were unstable. After additional reinforcements with Deep Mortar Pile, the stabilities in section BH-1, 2, 3, 4 were evaluated as efficiently large.

절리 암반 사면의 계단 경로 파괴에 미치는 불연속면 간격/길이 비의 영향 (The Effect of the Discontinuity Spacing/Length Ratio on Step-Path Failure of Jointed Rock Slopes)

  • 대규모 암반 사면에서 비연속성의 절리계가 발달할 때, 계단상 활동면에 의한 사면 파괴가 발생할 수 있다. 계단상 활동면은 절리-절리 활동면 또는 절리-암교 활동면으로 구분할 수 있으며, 절리-암교 활동면에서 암교는 절리와 평행한 전단 저항과 절리에 수직인 인장 저항을 제공한다. 계단 경로 파괴는 활동 암괴의 하중에 의해 암교의 파괴가 발생하여 암교 양단의 두 절리가 연결되며 발생한다. 암교의 길이가 동일하다면 암석의 인장강도가 전단강도에 비해 낮으므로 절리에 수직으로 형성된 암교가 파괴에 취약하며, 불연속면 간격/길이의 비가 작을수록 계단 경로 파괴의 가능성이 커진다. 비연속성의 절리가 발달하는 암반 사면의 계단상 활동 파괴 위험에 대한 평가를 위해서는 체계적인 불연속면 조사 및 분석을 통해 계단 경로 파괴면을 구성하여 한계 평형 해석 또는 수치 해석 등의 안정성 평가를 수행하여야 한다.

Analyses of centrifuge modelling for artificially sensitive clay slopes

  • Slope stability of sensitive clayey soils is particularly important when subjected to strength loss and deformation. Except for progressive failure, for most sensitive and insensitive slopes, it is important to review the feasibility of conventional analysis methods based on peak strength since peak strength governs slope stability before yielding. In this study, as a part of efforts to understand the behavior of sensitive clay slopes, a total of 12 centrifuge tests were performed for artificially sensitive and insensitive clay slopes using San Francisco Bay Mud (PI = 50) and Yolo Loam (PI = 10). In terms of slope stability, the results were analyzed using the updated instability factor ($N_I$). $N_I$ using equivalent unit weight to cause a failure is in reasonable agreement shown in the Taylor's chart ($N_I$ ~ 5.5). In terms of dynamic deformation, it is shown that two-way sliding is a more accurate approach than conventional one-way sliding. Two-way sliding may relate to diffused shear surfaces. The outcome of this study is contributable to analyzing stability and deformation of steep sensitive clay slopes.

시공단계를 고려한 비탈면의 안정성 검토를 통한 비탈면 활동원인 연구 (A Study on the Collapse Reason by Slope Stability Analysis Considering Construction Stages)

  • 최근 우기 시 집중호우로 인한 보강토 옹벽 및 비탈면의 붕괴는 빈번히 발생하고 있으며 더욱 인명사고로 이어지고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 집중호우로 인한 보강토 옹벽의 붕괴된 사례를 통해 보강토 옹벽의 균열 및 비탈면활동의 원인을 분석한 내용을 다루었고, 시공단계를 고려한 유한요소해석을 실시하여 비탈면의 파괴원인 분석 및 거동특성을 파악하였다. 연구결과 집중호우에 의한 보강토 옹벽의 변위는 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, 그 증가폭도 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과를 통해 말뚝 항타로 인해 보강토 옹벽의 붕괴에 일부 영향을 미칠 수 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

붕괴된 사면과 굴착되지 않은 사면의 안정성 검토 (Analysis of Slope Stability in Slopes of Failed and not Excavated)

  • Generally, investigation methods of cut slope are conducted only geological surface survey to gain engineering geological data of cut slopes. These methods have many problems such as limitations of investigation for a special area. So geophysical investigations such as geotomography, seismic and electrical resistivity methods have been used to search for failure surface in potential failure slopes or failed slopes. But investigation method using the borehole camera is recently a used method and it is thought that this method is more reliable method than other investigation methods because of being able to see by the eyes. Therefore, this paper was conducted investigations of borings and BIPS(Borehole Image Processing System) to search for potential sliding surfaces and was applied to obtain information of discontinuity on failed and potential failure slope in highway. As the results of BIPS, we could decide potential sliding surface in the slope, conducted to check slope stability and decided slope stability measures.

단층대가 발달한 사면의 보강대책에 관한 사례 연구 (A Case Study on Reinforcement of Cut Slope with Fault Zone)

  • From the result of precise field investigation and stability analysis for the cut slope, following results were acquired. 1. The cause of the collapse of cut slope came from circle sliding collapse by fault zone which remained inner weathering zone. 2. The existing destructed soil and rock can be removed by reinforcement. And to prevent the additional destruction, it is judged that applying the method after relaxing the slope would be reasonable. 3. To make cut slope stable, soft rock layer should be done cutting 1:1.5 and 1:2.0 ~ 1:2.5 for weathered rock and soil layer. 4. Heavy water leakage section should be applied horizontal drain method so that water pressure should not act to the cut slope.

대절토사면에 보강된 억지말뚝의 활동억지효과에 관한 연구 (Reinforcement Effect of Stabilizing Piles in Large-scale Cut Slops)

  • During the last few decades in Korea, the development of hillside or mountain areas has rapidly increased for infrastructure construction such as railroads, highways and housing. Many landslides have occurred during these constructions. Also, the amount and scale of damage caused by landslides have increased every year. In the case of Far East Asia including Korea, the damage of landslides is consequently reported during the wet season. In this paper, the effect of stabilizing piles on slope stability is checked and the behavior of slope soil and piles are observed throughout the year by field measurements in the large-scale cut slopes. In particular a large-scale cut slope situated on the construction site for the express highway in Donghae, Korea. First of all, The behavior of the slope soil was measured by inclinometers during slope modification. Landslides occurred in this area due to the soil cutting for slope modification. The horizontal deformations of slope soil gradually increased and rapidly decreased at depth of sliding surface indicating that the depth of sliding surface below the ground surface can be predicted. On the basis of being able to predict the depth of the sliding surface, stabilizing piles were designed and constructed in this slope. To ensure the stability of the reinforced slope using stabilizing piles, an instrumentation system was installed. The maximum deflection of piles is measured at the pile head and it is noted that the piles deform like deflection on a cantilever beam. The maximum bending stress of piles is measured at the soil layer. The pile above the soil layer is subjected to lateral earth pressure due to driving force of the slope, while pile below soil layer is subjected to subgrade reaction against pile deflection. As a result of research, the effect and applicability of stabilizing piles in large-scale cut slopes could be confirmed sufficiently.

FRICTION CHARACTERISTICS OF A PAPER-BASED FRICTION MATERIAL

  • A bench test set-up is employed to simulate the friction characteristics of a paper-based friction material operating against a steel plate. Dry friction tests are run as well as tests with transmission fluids. Glazed friction material produces a negative coefficient of friction versus sliding velocity (f-v) curve for both dry friction and lubrication with transmission fluids. At low sliding speeds, the coefficient of friction when operating in transmission fluids for glazed friction materials is greater than that under dry friction. An appreciable negative f-v slope occurs at low sliding speeds for glazed friction materials when running with the transmission fluid. The friction material after running in produces a constant f-v curve under dry friction and a negative slope when lubricated with transmission fluid. At low sliding speeds, the coefficient of friction of the run-in friction material is lower than that of the glazed wet material. On the other hand, the run-in friction material has a larger friction coefficient than does the glazed friction material at higher sliding speeds.

  • The paper presents a new approach for the analysis of slope stability that is based on the numerical solution of a differential equation, which describes the thrust force distribution within the potential sliding mass. It is based on the evaluation of the thrust force value at the endpoint of the slip line. A coupled approximation of the slip and thrust lines is applied. The model is based on subdivision of the sliding mass into slices that are normal to the slip line and the equilibrium differential equation is obtained as the slice width approaches zero. Opposed to common iterative limit equilibrium procedures the present method is straightforward and gives an estimate of slope stability at the value of the safety factor prescribed in advance by standard requirements. Considering the location of the thrust line within the soil mass above the trial slip line eliminates the possible development of a tensile thrust force in the stable and critical states of the slope. The location of the upper boundary point of the thrust line is determined by the equilibrium of the upper triangular slice. The method can be applied to any smooth shape of a slip line, i.e., to a slip line without break points. An approximation of the slip and thrust lines by quadratic parabolas is used in the numerical examples for a series of slopes.

절토사면 현황도 작성 및 분석에 따른 설계변경 사례연구 (An Example of Changed Design through the Face Mapping and Slope Analysis)

  • 연구지역의 지질은 흑색천매암, 석회암 및 함역천매암과 중생대 관입안인 흑운모화강암과 석영반암으로 구성되어 있다. 이 중 흑색천매암이 분포하는 구간에서 건설 중인 도로 사면에서 절토사면 현황도(face map)를 4월부터 6월까지 3개월간 작성하였으며 이때 탄질슬레이트 분포지 부근을 포함 사면 내에는 3-4개소에서 사면붕괴와 산 정상부에는 최고 3 m의 변위를 보이며 움직이고 있음이 확인 되었다. 사면 붕괴의 원인은 엽리 및 단층 등의 불연속면의 경사방향이 사면의 경사방향과 일치하는 곳에서 붕괴가 발생하였고 탄질 슬레이트는 빗물을 머금을 때 팽창성을 가짐도 붕괴가 일어나는 원인이다. 반면 본 사면의 도로 맞은편 사면에서는 같은 암상 및 지질구조 조건을 가지고 있으나 엽리 및 불연속면들의 경사 방향이 사면의 경사 방향과 반대방향이므로 안정된 사면을 유지하고 있다. 사면의 붕괴가 일어난 곳에서 안정화를 위해 절개 후 복구(cut and cover) 방법으로 도로의 양쪽 사면 사이 도로 상에 터널 구조물을 설치하여 절개식 터널(cut and cover tunnel)을 시공하였으며 시공 후 사면은 안정화 되었다.
