  • Long-slit spectra, covering the wavelength range 4050~5150$\AA$, have been used to investigate the radial behavior of absorption line features (G4300, Fe4383, Ca4455, Fe4531, Fe4668, and H$\beta$) along the major and minor axes of the bulge of M104. The heliocentric recession velocity of M104 has been derived as 1260$\pm$190${kms}^{-1}$. The strength of a number of metal absorption lines is decreasing with increasing radius, and the minor axis shows much steeper radial line gradients than the major axis. Line index of H$\beta$ has an opposite trend to other metal lines, i.e., increasing outward. The results in this paper imply that the properties of absorption line index distribution in M104 bulge have in many aspects similar trends to those of elliptical galaxies.

  • In this paper, we design and fabricate a disk sector antenna fed by CPW fur UWB communications. Also, we insert a rectangular slit on the arc-edge of the disk sector antenna. Then, the antenna has the directivity of E-면. In order to design the antenna, the input impedance is matched with the feed line of $50{\Omega}$ as varying the physical antenna parameters, which are the radius, the flare angle of disk sector, the length of ground, and the length of ground comer near by feed tine. Dimension of the antenna designed for UWB communication is $72mm{\times}26mm$ and bandwidth through computer simulation is $3{\sim}13GHz$. From the measured results, the bandwidth is $1.98{\sim}11GHz$. Return loss and gain of the fabricated antenna are -50.38dB, 1.34dBi at 3.5GHz, -12.27dB, 3.35dBi at 5.5GHz, -23.2dB, 3.8dBi at 8GHz and -16.17dB, 5.2dBi at 10GHz, respectively.

  • Various fatigue damages have been reported in orthotropic steel deck structures put upon girders. These damages are caused by complex behaviors of the deck, which is directly subjected to vehicle loads. To estimate the causes of fatigue cracks at the welded connected parts of the trough rib and the flor beam, and the trough rib and the deck plate, in orthotropic steel deck structures, FE analyses were first, performed in this study. Parameter studies were carried out to suggest effective structural details that consider fatigue, in which the main parameters are the thickness of the deck plate, the shape of the connection of the trough rib and the flor beam such as the slit form, and the welding length. This study suggests that the effective structural details improved the fatigue strength and discusses.

  • Dwarf elliptical galaxies (dEs), the most abundant galaxy type in clusters, were recently shown to exhibit a wide variety in their properties. Particularly, the presence of blue cores in some dEs, what we call dE(bc), supports the scenario of late-type galaxy infall and subsequent transformation into red, quiescent dEs. While several transformation mechanisms for these dE(bc)s within cluster environment have been proposed, all these processes are able to explain only some of the observational properties of dEs. In this context, internal kinematic properties of dE(bc)s provide the most crucial evidence to discriminate different processes for the formation of these galaxies. We present Gemini Multi Object Spectrograph (GMOS) long-slit spectroscopy of two dE(bc)s in the Virgo cluster. We obtained radial profiles of velocity and velocity dispersion out to ~1.3 effective radius. We found that two dE(bc)s exhibit kinematically decoupled components as well as distinct peculiar features in velocity profiles, supporting the scenario of mergers. We also found that these galaxies are structurally compatible with low surface brightness component of blue compact dwarf galaxies. We suggest that a part of dE(bc)s in the Virgo Cluster were formed through galaxy merger in low density environment such as galaxy group or outskirt of the cluster, and then were quenched by subsequent effects within cluster environment.
