This research was made to suggest a functional and fitted prototype of swallow-tailed coat for sports dance. We established the basic posture of standard dance from literature investigations, and grasped the changes of the body side-surface by motions through the gypsum-experiments with a man in twenty. The unfolded gypsum shells were overlapped on the basic swallow-tailed coats pattern drafted by their size of experimenter. From our results through analysis, our pattern of the swallow-tailed coats for sports dance was designed considering their functional and structural character. In case of upper body with the greatly increased shoulder width of garment and with the decreased front. When moving, owing to the rising of the armpit point, the side-line becomes longer with the shoulder length decreased greatly. In case of sleeves, the length of sleeves back increased greatly by the arm-bending motions while sleeve height becomes lowered.

According to previous report, aged sleeves for old transmission lines have various defect such as biased installation or corrosion of steel sleeve. These defects occupied almost 50 percent of investigated aged sleeves. The defects have been limited power capacity of transmission line. And it can cause serious problems such as rapid increasing of sag or falling out of overhead conductor from sleeve. This paper study on thermal behavior of sleeve with various defect model. The detailed results were presented in the text.

The costume of the 17th Century based on the excavated costume from the graves of Tong-Rae Jwg Clan are studied in this paper. The remaining were used for filling up the coffin consists of 1 piece of Dopo(도포) from the grave of Jung, Kwang-Kyung, 7 pieces of Joongchimak(중적막), 1 piece of Sochng-eui(소창의), and 1 piece of pants from the grave of Jae-Hoo Jung, grand-son of Kwang-Kyung Jung. From these remainings, this study newly reveals or confirms : 1) Standards of transition Procedure of mid-l7th century's Dopo with gussets, 2) Standards of transition procedure of late 17th century's Joongchimak with wide sleeves and side slits, 3) Standards of transition procedure of late 17th century's Sochang-eui with narrow sleeves and side slits, 4) Typical style of pants in the 17th century, 5) The constructive methods for quilted fabric.

The regulations for costume were set to improve people's moral fiber and cultural standards. In the 17th and 18th century, the main aim of this regulation was to prohibit luxury. But being the turning point to a modem state, with breaking social status and development of commerce, industry, and the mind of imitation, regulation for luxury wasn't enforced, but rather it brought many revolutionary changes in costume. Restraining human impulse to express beauty was no longer subject to regulation. Therefore, people started to recognize the human figure with shorter Jegory(저고리) and strengthened ceremonial capacity by broadening po's(포) sleeves. The silk fabrics were the most popular fabric during this era, special patterns were added for decoration and also for blessings. Complementary colors were used for contrast on the collar (깃), cuffs (끝동), Gyotrnagi (곁마기), and sash (고름). This color composition gave a younger and more active look. And with red stripes on the sleeves, it emphasized the beauty of the color arrangements as well as providing protection from the devil.

During the overhaul period of nuclear power plants in Korea, an ROV(Remotely Operated Vehicle) enters the cold-leg pipes connected with the reactor to examine the state of the thermal sleeves and their positions in the safety injection nozzles. To measure the positions of the thermal sleeves or scratches with video images recorded during the examination, time-varying camera parameters should be known, such as the focal length and principal points used for the capturing each video image. In this paper, we propose a camera calibration and measurement scheme by using a single image containing two circular grooves of a cylindrical nozzle whose radius and distance are known.

The purpose of this study aimed to evaluate the elderly women's preference to purchase, wear and launder underwear. After having one-to-one interviews with 567 elderly women who they were over 60 in their age in Incheon during the winter of 2000/2001, the differences of their preferences to practicability, economic/comfort, esthetic, symbolic, brand and service were analyzed by SPSS Win pack. When they bought their underwear, they were interested in its practicability most but not its esthetic, brand and service. The more learned and richer economically they were, the shorter sleeves and pants underwear thor had preferences to wear. Most of them wear underwear to keep warm during winter, but some of them wear habitually. They frequently boiled their underwear after washing in warm water with hands. From these tendency underwear for the elderly women should be specified both in bust circumference and in the length of sleeves or pants.

With the social atmosphere of respect for human life and the increasing interest in safety of field workers, research and development is underway in various ways to transform direct live method into indirect live method in the field of distribution. As part of this measure, it was necessary to convert electric pole and complex facilities work from machining power distribution to indirect live operation, and install a straight connecting sleeve that connects cut wires for by-pass method, but it failed to meet the tensile strength standard when constructing a sleeve constructed by direct method. In this paper, the design factors were derived based on the case of overseas similar sleeves and the tensile strength evaluation of each variable was performed, based on the analysis of these test results, the method for securing tensile strength of straight-line access sleeves for indirect running was presented.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the style of the windsurfing suits and to extract main expressional words for the development of semantic differential scales of visual images according to the change in the style of windsurfing suits. The results of this study are as follows: 1) By a period of activity and its functions of windsurfing suits, they were classified into dry suit, wet suit, semi-dry suit and warm water. 2) Windsurfing suits were assorted into 4 kinds of designs: the design #1 on a suit with long sleeves and long pants, the design #2 on a suit with half sleeves and long pants, the design #3 on a suit with half sleeves and half pants, and the design #4 on sleeveless and half pants. 3) Main expressional words of visual images for windsurfing suits differ greatly depending on the design of windsurfing suits. The visual images for the design #1 are ranked in the order of 'sporty', 'looking like arms that are slim', 'looking like thighs that are slim', 'looking slim', 'neatbbb, 'practical', 'difficult to wear'. The visual images for the design #2 are placed in the order of 'sporty', 'dynamic', 'practical', 'cheerful', 'light'. The visual images for the design #3 are ranked in the order of 'sporty', 'dynamic', 'light', 'cheerful', 'masculine', 'practical'. The visual images for the design #4 are placed in the order of 'sporty', 'dynamic', 'simple', 'light', 'uncomfortable', 'easy to wear', 'looking like arms that are fat'.

This study analyzes the styles of Baekje costumes by examining costume types and styles based on the research of old books and a comparative study of archaeological and historical Baekje art relics in Central Asia. The results of the study are as follows. 1. Through the comparative study of the records of old books, relic materials (Yangjikgongdo, Mural paintings of Takamatsuzuka Tumulus, Cheonsuguk Mandarasujang, Shosoin relics, and Haniwas), we can see that ancient Japanese costumes were influenced by the culture of Baekje costumes. 2. A comparative study of the records of relic materials of Baekje and Central Asia show that there were vigorous interchanges between the East and West. 3. Baekje costumes showed a great diversity in styles because they were based on Buyeo costumes developed in conjunction with vigorous overseas trade. 4. Baekje's upper garments are summarized as Boksam and Po for men and Yu, Banbi and Euisapo for women. Boksam and Yu styles varied as tunics and overlapped jackets with straight and round collars. Two types of sleeves coexisted. The sleeves of Hansung Baekje period were a diagonal lined style that was wide on the armhole and narrow on the wrist. The sleeves of Sabi Baekje period were a reversed diagonal lined style that is narrow on the armhole and wide on the wrist. Pants styles were summarized as Gon, Gunggo and Daegugo. There were not enough relics and references for the Baekje costumes; however, this study widens the possibility of the existence of various styles of Baekje costumes through inferences from available data.
