This paper describes the refined 3-D finite element (FE) modeling of composite frames composed of concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) columns and steel-concrete composite beams based on the test to get a better understanding of the seismic behavior of the steel-concrete composite frames. A number of material nonlinearities and contact nonlinearities, as well as geometry nonlinearities, were taken into account. The elastoplastic behavior, as well as fracture and post-fracture behavior, of the FE models were in good agreement with those of the specimens. Besides, the beam and panel zone deformation of the analysis models fitted well with the corresponding deformation of the specimens. Parametric studies were conducted based on the refined finite elememt (FE) model. The analyzed parameters include slab width, slab thickness, shear connection degree and axial force ratio. The influences of these parameters, together with the presence of transverse beam, on the seismic behavior of the composite frame were studied. And some advices for the corresponding seismic design provisions of composite structures were proposed.
Formwork is a temporary structure that supports its weight and that of fresh concrete as well as construction live loads. Slab formwork consists of sheathing, stringer, hanger and shore. In construction site, pipe supports are usually used as shores which are consisted of the slab formwork. In this study, compressive strength of 80 pipe supports was measured by knife edge test and plate test. Buckling load of pipe supports was analyzed by structural analysis program(MlDAS). Theoretical buckling load with/without initial deformation was got by theoretical analysis. According to these results, buckling load which was analyzed by structural analysis program(MlDAS) was larger than compressive strength of knife edge test and plate test. Theoretical buckling load without initial deformation was larger than compressive strength of knife edge test and plate test. But Theoretical buckling load with initial deformation was lower than compressive strength of knife edge test and plate test. Initial deformation equation for test method according to the pipe support length was suggested. Therefore, the present study results will be used to design the slab formwork safely.

This paper presents the results of an experimental study carried out Prestressed Concrete Slab System of WAffle Shape(WAS), was perfomed in order to inverstigate it connection shear behavior according to primary paramaters: connection interval, filling matarial. Specimen is produced in Precast Concrete factories and it comprised one WAS panel and two half WAS panels and then it is filled with packing. Within the ranges of the parameters of the connection details used in this test, connections can develop greater shear strength than the nominal shear strength and the design service load for parking structures.

In this study, the optimal strengthening by micro genetic algorithm(${\mu}$-GA) method is proposed for improvement of load-carrying capacity of RC hollow slab bridges using external prestressing. The Qeen-post type and King-post type are considered for the optimal strengthening. The type for optimal strengthening, deviator, areas of tendons and the number of anchor are calculated by ${\mu}$-GA. The objective function is constituted with dimensionless cost of tendon and steel for optimal strengthening. The constraints are formulated by design specification for bridges and anchors. The validity of this study is presented by analysis of the results after the optimal strengthening of the RC hollow slab bridge.

In this study, the optimal method is applied to strengthening of RC hollow slab bridges using external prestressing. The Queen-post and King-post shapes are considered to find the effective tendon configurations. In order to achieve the objective rating factor, the optimal configurations and tendon forces are obtained by using the Sequential Unconstrained Minimization Technique (SUMT). The object function for optimal strengthening is constituted with the dimensionless function of material costs. The constraints are formulated by design specification and the rating factor. The validity of this study is presented by the analysis of the results of strengthening of the RC hollow slab bridges.
Recently, a concern about hollow core precast concrete (PC) slab has been increased as a method to improve the construction ability by reducing the self weight of structures during the construction. Hollow core slab which is known as a typical PC slab in domestic construction of PC building has a problem to put shear reinforcements in the web of element during the production of element in the factory. With regard to this point, recently, tripple ribs slab (TRS) which can be said as a new type of half PC slab system was developed. In TRS, it is possible to place shear reinforcements in PC element during the production of the element in the factory. This paper presents the shear test result of TRS which was done by one point loading test under simple support condition. Test parameters are the presence of cast-in-place (CIP) concrete and the contribution of lattice bars. From the test, it was found that the TRS has sufficient shear capacity to resist the design load and its strength can be predicted by the code equations for general beam. It is recommended to ignore the strength of lattice bar in the calculation of shear strength during the construction since its contribution is too low to be considered when CIP is not casted.
Concrete slab track was applied to the Gyeoungbu High Speed Railroad step 2 and the Honam High Speed Railroad. Concrete slab track incurs higher construction cost and lower maintenance cost than existing gravel track. For these reasons, the use of concrete slab track has increased in Korea. The biggest problem in the use of concrete slab track is repairing damage from settlement that can occur while trains are in service. High speed railroad design standards require allowable residual settlement of concrete slab track of less than 25mm. In order to satisfy the requirement of long term stability of concrete slab track, it is necessary to manage the secondary compression settlement within the allowable residual settlement. This study is to evaluate the secondary compression settlement with the variation of the secondary compression index, thickness of soft ground, and concrete slab track life. Statistical analysis is performed to determine the probability of distribution of areas where serious problems will be caused after the concrete slab track is constructed.
The main objective of this study is to develop a continuity of double tee slab with two modified dap-ends to solve the problems of excessive moment, slab depth, deflection, and joint cracking in the original simply supported double tee slab systems. The modified joint is produced in a combination with two slabs with modified dap and one rectangular beam. The modified joint can be justified as following different merits. The span capacity for a design load is increased, while the deflection of the slab is decreased due to the decrease of positive moment at the center span of the slab. The joint cracking between slab and beam, which occur frequently in the original slab systems of double tee will be reduced. No more additional form work is needed to cast topping concrete for continuity. Three point loading tests are performed on the specimens with a variable of an amount of main longitudinal reinforcement to evaluate flexural and shear behavior. Following conclusions are obtained from the experimental investigation. The continuity of double tee slab effectively is provided by placing longitudinal steel reinforcement in the topping concrete over the connection, and generally leads to an increase in span capacity of double tee slabs with reduced deflection. It is more effective to control the initial cracking at the connection than that of some simply supported double tee slab systems.

This study investigates the effect of carbon fiber sheet (CFS) and carbon fiber strand sheet (CFSS) on the fatigue resistance and compressive strength of RC slabs. The results of a comparison of the number of equivalent cycles between the CFS- and CFSS-reinforced RC slab test specimens obtained from a fatigue test indicate that the CFSS-reinforced RC slab has 1.2~1.3 times greater effect of reinforcement than the CFS-reinforced RC slab. This study also indicates that the fatigue resistance of the CFS- and CFSS-reinforced RC slabs is ensured when the compressive strength of concrete is not lower than the specified design strength prescribed in the Specifications for Highway Bridges but is not ensured when the compressive strength of concrete is lower than the specified design strength, although the effect of reinforcement is secured.
This paper describes an analytical study on the design approach of PC system with continuous connections at member ends. In multi-ribbed moment resisting slab (MRS) system, double tee members are connected continuously over inverted tee beams with the continuous reinforcements placed within topping concrete. Thus, negative moments are concentrated within the narrow connection area. In order to propose a design method, experimental results of the companion study were examined using detailed nonlinear analysis. Then nonlinear static analysis was used to evaluate the partial continuity effect and the moment redistribution mechanism. Material and cross sectional properties were obtained from experimental results of the companion study. Plastic hinge properties for nonlinear static analysis were modeled with cracking moment, nominal moment, corresponding member deformations, etc. The analysis results showed that a large amount of negative moment of MRS slab can be reduced by applying partial continuity and moment redistribution in MRS joint.
