The objective of the study was to investigate skin temperature responses of Hanbok when it was worn. Two healthy females(average 21 years, 155cm and 60kg were exposed to a climatic chamber(Room Temp. $21{\pm}1^{\circ}C,\;52{\pm}2%R.H.$, 0.15m/s). During the experiment, rectal temperature, skin temperature of 9 areas, clothing microclimate, subjective sensation were measured. Chima and Jogory to be made of silk nobang(SN) or Ramie were worn for summer. Polyester(P) Chima and Jogori(R) could be wort for spring and autumn. For winter, silk Chima, Jogori(S) and Durumagi(D) were commonly worn. Rectal temperature was high in order of naked(N), R, SN, P, S, D. However Mean skin temperature was reversely high in order of D, S, SN, R, P, naked. In naked, skin temperature was high in order of head, trunk upper extremity and lower extremity. But on wearing of Hanbok, it was the highest at the chest except head regardless of kinds of clothing ensembles. Skin temperature of upper arm was secondly highest on wearing the silk ensemble and the Durumagi ensemble, but skin temperature of buttock was secondly highest on wearing the silk nobang ensemble and the ramie ensemble. Skin temperature on wearing the silk ensemble was generally higher than those on other clothing ensembles. Local and mean skin temperatures on wearing the silk ensemble and the Durumagj ensemble were generally higher than on other clothing ensembles. Heat resistance of the fabric might have affected on the local skin temperature.
In order to investigate the changes in the temperature regulation mechanism following ingestion of red pepper, twenty healthy man were given 2 gms of powdered red pepper each in 100 ml of water at room temperature, $20^{\circ}C$, Simultaneous recordings of temperature and electrical resistance of the skin of forehead were taken by means of Physiograph, using appropriate transducers. Temperature of various spots such as the cheek, upper tack and the forearm was also measured by the telethermometer at interval of two minutes. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Seventeen out of 20 subjects showed immediate rise in the skin temperature of the forehead, and 11 of them manifested the oscillating pattern of the skin temperature. The average of the largest peak amplitude was $0.58{\pm}0.355^{\circ}C$. 2. Even those who failed to show the immediate rise in the temperature did not keep the quiescence over 9 minutes, and delayed responses were revealed. 3. The rise in tile skin temperature is the favourable sign for the heat discipating mechanism only because the sweat glands are activated with the concomittant rise in the temperature of the skin. 4. There was a preceding or coincide fall in the electrical resistance of the skin, and it was also attributed to the glandular activity. 5. At rather cool room temperature, $20^{\circ}C$, no visible sweat was seen during the period of observation. Nevertheless it was obvious that latent activation of the sweat glands was triggered and the. threshold was lowered. This situation imitates the acclimatized condition in the hot environment, and it is likely to increase the tolerance in tropical climate from the view point of temperature regulation.
The goals of this study are twofold: To investigate non-phobics'and Phobics'Physiological response in virtual environments. and to analyze the trend of phobics' Physiology during virtual reality treatment. As a measure of Physiology. heart rate, skin resistance. and skin temperature were acquired. The data of two group subjects were analyzed: twenty-two non-Phobic subjects (M=32.94 years). thirty-six subjects with fear of flying (M=40.12 yearn) who met the DSM-lV criteria for a fear of flying. As a result. skin resistance showed significant differences between non-Photics and phobics. T(56) =2.978, P〈0.01 And the physiological responses of 33 subjects among the Phobics. who succeed to fly without medicine after virtual reality treatment, showed a gradual trend toward the non-Phobics Physiological responses as therapy sessions went on. In this study. Physiological monitoring. skin resistance appeared to be useful both in understanding the Physiological state of Phobic individuals and in evaluating the results of treatment in virtual reality Psychotherapy.
The distribution of shaft resistance is measured by the static load test with the strain gauge or stress gauge, so that the long-term load distribution must be considered for the pile design. However, the measurement by strain gauge generally assumes the 'zero reading', which is the reading taken at 'zero time' with 'zero' load and the residual stress, which is the negative skin friction(or the negative shaft resistance) caused by the pile construction, is neglected. Therefore, the measured value by strain gauge is different from the true load-distribution because residual stresses were neglected. In this study, the three drilled shafts were constructed, and the strain measurements were carried out just after shaft construction. As a result of this study, it is shown that the true load-distribution of drilled shaft is quite different with known load distribution and the true load-distribution of drilled shaft changed from the negative skin friction to the positive skin according to the load increment.

Distributed-type railguns are designed to maintain the armature current and the length between the armature and the current-feed region nearly constant with time. This paper deals with factors affecting current distribution, effective resistance and effective skin depth in the rail of a distributed-type railgun. Analytical solutions for the current distributions and resistance in the rail are presented for a simple two-dimensional model under steady-state contions. For diffusion limited current, it is found that effective rail resistance is proportional to the square root of the relative velocity, the permeability of the rail and the length between the armature and that effective skin depth of the rail is proportional to the square root of the length and inversely proportional to the square root of the permeability, the conductivity and the velocity.
The accurate and rapid detection of methicillin-resistance of Staphylococcus aureus (SA) holds significant clinical importance. However, the methicillin-resistance detection strategies commonly require complicated cell lysis and gene extraction. Herein, we devised a novel colorimetric approach for the sensitive and accurate identification of methicillin-resistance of SA by combining allosteric probe-based target recognition with self-primer elongation-based target recycling. The PBP2a aptamer in the allosteric probe successfully identified the target MRSA, leading to the initiation of self-primer elongation based-cascade signal amplification. The peroxidase-like hemin/G-quadruplex undergo an isothermal autonomous process that effectively catalyzes the oxidation of ABTS2- and produces a distinct blue color, enabling the visual identification of MRSA at low concentrations. The method offers a shorter duration for bacteria cultivation compared to traditional susceptibility testing methods, as well as simplified manual procedures for gene analysis. The overall amplification time for this test is 60 min, and it has a detection limit of 3 CFU/ml. In addition, the approach has exceptional selectivity and reproducibility, demonstrating commendable performance when tested with real samples. Due to its advantages, this colorimetric assay exhibits considerable potential for integration into a sensor kit, thereby offering a viable and convenient alternative for the prompt and on-site detection of MRSA in patients with skin and soft tissue infections.

This work aimed to evaluate 11 potato families for insect resistance horticultural traits. The families were derived from crosses between introduced insect resistant and adapted genotypes. A randomized complete block design, with three replications was used. The plot consisted of 25 genotypes of a family, summing up to 75 genotypes tested per family. Two susceptible cultivars were included in the experiment as checks. The genotypes were evaluated for insect resistance, tuber yield traits, tuber appearance and tuber skin smoothness. The genetic value for the intensity of insect attack in the leaves and in the tubers was lower(higher resistance) in the 11 families than in the checks. For yield traits, there was no predominant effect among the families regarding the origin of the resistant donor species(Solanum berthaultii and/or S. chacoense). However, there was a large contribution of the C-1485-16-87 recurrent parent in crosses with resistant genotypes for tuber yield and tuber number. In relation to tuber appearance, only the family derived form the C-1485-16-87/ ND140(S. berthaultii) cross did not differ from the checks. had genetic value tuber skin smoothness, it was identified that families derived from S. berthaultii resistant parents showed higher genetic values than the check cultivars. For tuber skin smoothness, the genetic values of the families neither differed significantly from each other nor from the checks.

This study aims to investigate the enhancement of water resistance and improvement in adhesion to the skin by combining dextrin palmitate and isopropyl titanium triisostearate coating materials with titanium dioxide. Due to the recent increase in consumers who enjoy outdoor activities, the demand for sunscreen with excellent water resistance is increasing. Prior research was conducted with O/W, Pickering, and W/O/W multiple formulations, but there was a limit to water resistance. The purpose of this study is to develop a complex inorganic powder that can improve water resistance and increase adhesion to the skin to solve this problem. First, we combined dextrin palmitate and isopropyl titanium triisostearate coating materials to form a composite with titanium dioxide. The coating of the inorganic powder was confirmed using FE-SEM and FT-IR analysis. The composite exhibited significantly higher in vitro water resistance compared to other formulations. The hydrophobicity of the coated inorganic powder was compared by measuring the contact angles. When the coated inorganic powder was applied to the W/O sunscreen formulation and the non-coated inorganic powder was applied to the W/O sunscreen formulation as a control, the SPF of the sunscreen containing the coated inorganic powder was higher. These results were the same when observed with a UV camera. Finally the adhesion of the coated inorganic powder to the skin was assessed by applying it to a foundation product. In vivo study, it was observed that the product formulated with the coated powder exhibited less smudging compared to the foundation product formulated with the non-coated powder. The developed inorganic powder in this study demonstrated excellent adhesion to the skin, providing a superior sensory experience, as well as enhanced hydrophobicity and remarkable water resistance effects. In the future, the result of this study is expected to help develop various sunscreen products to improve water resistance.
Panax ginseng discarded and lower than 4th grade is caused by red skin disease showing red color skin in ginseng. This kind of red skin ginseng is found a lot in Panax ginseng rather than Panax quinquefolium, and it is considered that red skin disease might be caused by gene. Therefore, this study was carried out to detect genes resistant to red skin disease using RT-PCR. RNA was extracted from three years old ginseng root of both red skin and normal portion in the same root. After RNA extraction, PCR amplification was performed from cDNA using many random primers. As a result, specific band for red skin was found. It is considered that the gene forming band has possibility to be related with red skin disease, and this gene should be decided if it's related with red skin disease. If that gene is related with red skin disease, it will be used for transformation to foster for resistance to red skin disease as well as for selection marker. Bowever, if it's not related with red skin disease, more primers should be used to find gene related with red skin disease.

In this study, FVM (Finite Volume Method) which is one of the 2-dimensional numerical approach has been conducted to anticipate the temperature distribution between skin and clothes by the change of air temperature and fabric characteristics including fabric thickness. Several experimental works have been done to understand the thermal insulation effect (If fabrics on a human body by measuring the averaged temperature in the air layer between skin and clothes or by measuring the thermal resistance of fabrics. However, the formal method is inconvenient to measure the temperature distribution in the air layer to evaluate the insulation rate of the clothes on the skin because the real size of the clearance between skin and the clothes is too small to place the temperature sensor, and in the Tatter method the relationship between human body and the fabrics are ignored. However, the numerical method will be very effective and economical way to evaluate the insulation efficiency of clothes when the computational result is in the reliable range. As the result of this study, the temperature change in the sir layer between skin and clothes was linear to the fabric thickness and this result coincides with many previous experimental results. Moreover, it is possible to predict the optimum fabric thickness for the best thermal insulation in the air layer between skin and clothes.
