The purpose of this study is to search an effective teaching & learning program by examining how much does Excel affect on problem solving of linear function. This study was based on qualitative case study. Teaching experiment was performed for seven periods with five students in 8th graders. Pre and posts tests were attempted to analyze the changes of student's ability on problem solving of linear function. The analysis of tests were performed in category with correct process-object perspective, near process-object perspective, incorrect process-object perspective. According to this study, the subjects showed an improvement on problem solving perspective of linear function. This meant that lessons using Excel had influenced on the problem solving of linear function. We noticed that exploring the learning environment with Excel could supplement paper-and-pencil environment. We believed that Excel with an intuitive dynamic and explorative skills can play a role in scaffolding to support problem solving of linear function.
This research aims to evaluate the effects and the shortcomings of strategies for teaching paraphrasing to foreign university students. For this study, the effects of teaching paraphrasing skills on student's academic writing was investigated through the assessment of pre- and post-test writing tasks and through a focus group interview. The teaching of paraphrasing was divided into 3 instructional sessions and the focus group interview was conducted at the end of the last session. After each instructional session three trained assessors evaluated the outcomes of pre and post task writings; the in-depth focus group interviews were conducted on seven of the students in order to define better positive effects as well as shortcomings. By comparing the scores of pre- and post-task assignments it is possible to affirm that there is a meaningful difference for overall scores; moreover, in an analysis conducted on each single sub-element of the paraphrasing skill, it emerged that except for "task completion", all other four elements of "structure", "understanding core content", "change of expression" and "academic expressions" showed a statistically significant improvement in performance. On the other hand, as a result of the focus group interview, it was possible to individuate as main shortcomings insufficient vocabulary knowledge, poor overall comprehension of the reference material, lack of practice and difficulty in connect sentences organically. It is possible to consider these elements as limiting factors in understanding the reference material and making correct citations by the students. Therefore, we suggest as supplementary instructional strategies a deeper attention to the difficulty level of the text, the introduction of devices to understand better the content of the reference material and an integrated practice of the paraphrasing skill.
Purpose: The study aimed at identifying distributions of career stress and determining whether conflict at school or with family and health-risk behaviors could be associated with career stress. Methods: The subjects were 7,155 high school students in Seoul. Data were stratified random samples from Seoul student health examinations in 2010. Chi-square, trend test and multiple logistic regression were conducted. Results: Fifty six percent of subjects had career stress. Career stress, after adjusting for confound variables was associated with a significantly increased odds ratio (OR) for sociodemographic characteristics including females (OR=1.34), 12th graders (OR=1.56), 11th graders (OR=1.50), south area (OR=1.47), and northeast area (OR=1.40), for conflict at school or with family including violent threats made by family members or schoolmates (OR=2.00), thoughts of running away from home (OR=1.45), and needing of counseling for agony (OR=5.45), and for health-risk behaviors including sleep ${\leq}6$ hours/day (OR=1.23), nonuse of seat belts or protective euipment (OR=1.50), and frequently viewing pornography or chatting on adult Web sites (OR=1.23). Conclusion: Stress-coping skills and intervention strategies will be needed to enhance students' positive and to help them cope with psychosocial conflicts at school and with their families, and with health-risk behaviors, including sleep deprivation and nonuse of safety measures, including seat belts and protective.

The training hours for radiolgical science student are greater than medical students. In addition, radiological technologists are continuously developing their competencies for new knowledge and skills through continuing education in clinical fields. In particular, radiological technologist are making steady research efforts to reduce patient exposure and improve medical image quality. As a result of this investigation, it is considered that the term "guided by a doctor or dentist" as currently defined in the 'Act on Medical Technicians, etc.' may need to be revised in consideration of the professionalism of the radiological technologist.
This study is a descriptive research study to investigate the effects of critical thinking and empathy on resilience of nursing students. The subjects of this study were 234 nursing students in the 4th grade and the data were collected from June 3 to 19, 2019. Data was processed by descriptive statistics, t-test, correlation analysis, and multiple regression method. As a result of the study, critical thinking and empathy showed a significant positive relationship with resilience. Critical thinking and empathy were factors that influence the resilience of nursing students and the resilience was explained as 70.3%. Therefore, in order to increase the resilience of nursing students it is considered that an education program that strengthens internal factors can cultivate critical thinking and empathy skills is necessary.
The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of empathy and communication skill on clinical stress of college students in the convergence society. The participants were 211 college students, data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation, Multiple regression. It was found that: nursing students showed higher clinical stress in case of lower level of school satisfaction, major satisfaction, clinical satisfaction, the difficult of relationship with head nurse, and female student. Significant negative correlation were found between communication skill and clinical stress. The factors influencing clinical stress were clinical satisfaction, communication skill and gender. In order to reduce clinical stress among nursing students, it is needed to find various ways improving communication skills, such as educational courses and intervention, and to figure out associate variables and multilateral research to enhance clinical satisfaction.
Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is a student-centered pedagogy that integrates nursing knowledge, skills, and attitudes into clinical nursing practice. This pilot aims to apply a PBL module on preschoolers' growth and development in the nursing curriculum. This quantitative study was performed to develop a PBL module following Dick and Carye's program development process (planning, development, application, and evaluation phases), and to evaluate its effects using structured questionnaires among sophomore nursing students. These students formed teams of four or five people each and spent 40 minutes participating in the PBL module. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, and content analysis. Metacognition level increased significantly. There was no significant difference in team efficacy between pre-test and post-test. Post-test learning satisfaction was high. Students reported obtaining knowledge and problem-solving ability with respect to preschoolers' growth and development and were satisfied with teamwork. This finding offers fundamental knowledge concerning the application of a PBL module in nursing curricula.
Objective: As the demands of healthcare environment change, it is necessary to advance human health care by improving students' essential competencies including knowledge, skills, abilities, inter-professional collaboration and patient centered care. This study identified long term accomplishment and improvement of the essential competencies in clinical pharmacy practice education (CPPE) at Korean hospitals over time. Methods: This study was conducted for pharmacy students who completed CPPE evaluation related to tertiary hospitals and secondary hospitals located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do regional area from 2014 to 2018. Results: Over the past 5 years, overall results of student evaluation on the essential competencies in CPPE at both tertiary and secondary hospitals showed a decreasing trend or did not change. Essential competency in CPPE at tertiary hospitals had been identified as superior on 'Learn clinical knowledge in the treatment of diseases' to secondary hospitals [average number of students (%): 210 (72.9%) vs 68 (68.0%)]. On the other hand, essential competencies in CPPE at secondary hospitals had been identified as better at 'inter-professionals collaborative teamwork and direct patient care' than tertiary hospitals [average number of students (%): 64 (64.0%) and 56 (56.0%) vs 121 (42.0%) and 90 (31.3%)]. A total of 176 (61.1%) students in tertiary hospitals and 66 (66.0%) in secondary hospitals evaluated that 'patient-centered care' education was good. Conclusion: In tertiary hospitals, all six essential competency outcomes have not been improved, whereas four essential competency outcomes showed an increasing trend in secondary hospitals. It will be necessary to develop outcome-based CPPE education program to better reflect the essential competencies.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of romantic competence on the relation between romantic attachment and psychological well-being. A sample of 206 college students was employed. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlations and hierarchical regressions. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, romantic attachment was negatively associated with psychological well-being and romantic competence. Also, romantic competence was positively associated with psychological well-being. Second, there was partial mediating effect of romantic competence on the relation between romantic attachment and psychological well-being. This study explored the direct effect of romantic attachment on psychological well-being and the indirect effect of romantic attachment on psychological well-being through romantic competence. The results imply that personal relationship skills should be considered to enhance psychological well-being when planning programs or counseling for college students.
The purpose of this study is to confirm the effects of the contents of the recording lectures through the automatic recording system of the nursing students on the program outcomes of the pediatric nursing.
