  • Business analytics is a management tool for achieving significant business performance improvements. Many organizations fail to or only partially achieve their business objectives and goals from business analytics. Business analytics adoption is a multi-stage complex activity consisting of evaluation, adoption, and assimilation stages. Several research papers have been published in the field of business analytics, but the research on multi-stage BA adoption is fewer in number. This study contributes to the scant literature on the multi-stage adoption model by identifying the critical themes for evaluation, adoption, and assimilation stages of business analytics. This study uses the thematic content analysis of peer-reviewed published academic papers as a research technique to explore the key themes of business analytics adoption. This study links the critical themes with the popular theoretical foundations: Resource-Based View (RBV), Dynamic Capabilities, Diffusion of Innovations, and Technology-Organizational-Environmental (TOE) framework. The study identifies twelve major factors categorized into three key themes: organizational characteristics, innovation characteristics, and environmental characteristics. The main organizational factors are top management support, organization data environment, centralized analytics structure, perceived cost, employee skills, and data-based decision making culture. The major innovation characteristics are perceived benefits, complexity, and compatibility, and information technology assets. The environmental factors influencing BA adoption stages are competition and industry pressure. A conceptual framework for the multi-stage BA adoption model is proposed in this study. The findings of this study can assist the practicing managers in developing a stage-wise operational strategy for business analytics adoption. Future research can also attempt to validate the conceptual model proposed in this study.

Results of empirical research concerning the relationship between them also provided for the basis of designing this program. Consisting of 6 sessions this education program was delivered to 20 young daughters-in-law in a rural area of Kyunggi-do province. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated through one-group posttest design and follow-up interview. Overall most participants in the program reported that the relationship with their mothers-in-law was enhanced in terms of understanding mothers-in-laws psychology and roles of improving communication and problem-solving skills self-control and of blaming.

  • This paper proposes a management system for the educational program of production managers on the basis of value co-creation by the learner and the instructor. The program combines an intelligent knowledge-based approach with the kaizen activity program. The program helps individuals acquire knowledge and skills to ensure the total rather than the partial optimization of processes and operations facilitating continuous improvement in the workplace. To achieve these goals, the program uses models of a learning process and a swing of enlightenment. In addition, the program is supported by a framework of academic, business people, consultants, and government officers. The program was developed using an instructional design approach. This paper discusses the process of developing and managing the educational program between 2006 and 2012 as well as the results obtained.

  • Socialization is the process of moving from one social role to another by gaining knowledge, skills and behaviors to participate in a group. Nurses who graduate from nursing school, enter the work force, and develop a career undergo socialization as they become insiders in the hospital. This study was designed to identify experiences of the nurses' socialization process in the hospital setting. The subjects were 6 nurses. Data were collected by recording and transcribing interviews and analyzed in the framework of grounded theory as mapped out by Strauss and Corbin(1990). The core category in the analysis of the experiences of nurses' socialization process was “being beyond”. In the process of data analysis, 22 categories were identified. These categories were again grouped into 13. Based upon these results, it is recommended that development of resocialization models to establish nursing identity are necessary.

  • Entrepreneurship development has increasingly become a global solution to address the problem of rising unemployment. Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) have become important tools in improving the economic performance and social well-being of nations. When universities and industry work together to push the boundaries of knowledge, they become a powerful engine for innovation and economic growth. This paper is based on focus group interviews and discussions conducted with key players involved in the HIT-Sandown-UNDP Business Incubation Programme in Harare Zimbabwe. The business incubation project sought to support young Zimbabweans to transform their technical prototypes into commercially and socially viable ventures. As a result, a total of 10 prototypes were refined and investor ready business plans were developed for capital sourcing purposes. It was only through the coming together of the partners that real transformation of the lives of the participants was achieved through learning valuable business skills, coaching and mentoring. University-industry partnerships are a useful vehicle of setting up sustainable business incubation centres.

  • In our fast-moving information and knowledge society, skills and know-how rapidly become outdated. Virtual learning environments play a key role in meeting today's growing demand for customized educational and vocational training and lift-long teaming. The scope of multimedia-based and web-supported education is illustrated by means of an interdisciplinary multimedia project 'New Statistics' funded by the German government. The project output contains more than 70 learning modules covering the complete curriculum of an introductory statistics course. All modules are based on a statistical laboratory and on a multitude of Java applets, animations and case studies. The paper focuses on presenting the statistical laboratory and the applets. These components present the main project pillars and are particularly suitable for international use, independently from the original project framework. This article also demonstrates the application of Java applets and other multimedia developments from the educational world to official statistics for interactive presentation of statistical information.

  • Within a framework of sociocultural approaches to writing process, this study examined six ESL graduate students' writing processes in depth based on individual interviews and their narratives of writing process. The narratives and interviews were analyzed to discover salient aspects of the students' writing processes and to understand the socially situated nature of the writing processes. First, it was observed that these six students displayed multiplicity in terms of their representations of writing process, episodes, textual practices, and concerns. Several factors including the writing task, students' familiarity with genre, literacy skills, attitude toward writing, and involvement in interaction contributed to individualized trajectories of writing process. It was also revealed that writing is unavoidably a socially situated practice. Students were situated in their cultural arenas as well as their disciplinary arenas, and these contexts helped the students serve as active agents producing and sharing knowledge. The confluence of personal, cognitive, and social factors observed in their writing processes suggests that writing process should be understood from multiple perspectives.

Questionnaires were used to collect data from institutes of farmer education. The framework of analysis was developed with four survey areas and 328 programs were analyzed based on it. The results show that the major learning domains of farmer education were concentrated on production skills and were overlapped with other training institutes. There was no systemic structure in whole programs for farmers. Evaluations for learning achievement were not fully implemented. It was recommended that there should be a system for improving quality of farmer education.
