A Binomial Sampling Plans for Aphis gossypii (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in Greenhouse Cultivation of Cucumbers

  • Infestations of Aphis gossypii per leaf in greenhouse cultivation of cucumbers were investigated to develop binomial sampling plans. An empirical $P_T-m$ model, $ln(m)={\alpha}+{\beta}ln[-ln(1-P_T)]$, was used to evaluate relationship between the proportion of infested leaves with ${\leq}$ T aphids per leaf ($P_T$) and mean aphid density (m). Tally thresholds (T) were set to 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 aphids per leaf to find appropriate T in greenhouse cultivation of cucumbers. Increasing sample size had little effect on the precision of the binomial sampling plan. However, the precision increased with tally threshold. The binomial model with T = 5 provided appropriate predictions of the mean densities of A. gossypii in the greenhouse cultivation of cucumbers. Using a binomial model with T = 5 (sample size = 200), a wide range of densities (1.2 - 222.8 aphids per leaf) could be estimated with precision levels of 0.346 - 0.380 for $P_T$ values between 0.15 and 0.96. Binomial models were validated at T = 5 and 7 using 12 independent data sets. Both binomial models were robust and adequately described aphid densities; most of the independent sampling data fell within 95% confidence intervals around the prediction model.

  • The objectives of this study are : to measure the level of rent burden. to examine the independent influences of the variables related to rent burden. to measure the level of family economic problem perception. to examine the differences in the level of family economic problem perception due to rent burden, household characteristics, housing characteristics and rent incresing. For these purpose, a survey is conducted using questionaires. The data used in this study included 369 renters living in Seoul. Statistics uses for data analysis were Frequency Distribution. Percentile, men, Pearson's Correlation, Partial Correlation, One-way ANOVA, Breakdown and Multiple Regression Analysis. Major findings are as follows : The average score of rent burden was 35.87, Therefore rent burden of large cities, rental households is very heavy. Family income, housing facility quality, rent type, and rent incresing have independent influences on rent burden. The average of family economic problem perception is above the mid-point of the scale. The level of family economic problem perception differs due to rent burden, family income, family life cycle, family size, occupation of household head, education leval of household head and homemaker, rent type, housing type, housing size, housing facility quality and rent increases. If the level of rent burden is below 25, family economic problem perception is adequate.

Effect of steel fibres and nano silica on fracture properties of medium strength concrete

  • This study presents the fracture properties of nano modified medium strength concrete (MSC). The nano particle used in this study is nano silica which replaces cement about 1 and 2% by weight, and the micro steel fibers are added about 0.4% volume of concrete. In addition to fracture properties, mechanical properties, namely, compressive strength, split tensile strength, and flexural strength of nano modified MSC are studied. To ensure the durability of the MSC, durability studies such as rapid chloride penetration test, sorptivity test, and water absorption test have been carried out for the nano modified MSC. From the study, it is observed that significant performance improvement in nano modified MSC in terms of strength and durability which could be attributed due to the addition pozzolanic reaction and the filler effect of nano silica. The incorporation of nano silica increases the fracture energy about 30% for mix without nano silica. Also, size independent fracture energy is arrived using two popular methods, namely, RILEM work of fracture method with $P-{\delta}$ tail correction and boundary effect method. Both the methods resulted in nearly the same size-independent $G_F$ irrespective of the notch to depth ratio of the same specimen. This shows evidence that either of the two procedures could be used in practice for analysis of cracked concrete structures.

The Influence of Board Ownership on Bank Performance: Evidence from Saudi Arabia

  • The current study aims to investigate the influence of different categories of ownership held by different types of board members on bank performance. The study uses a sample of Saudi listed banks for the period from 2011 to 2018. The results of the panel data analysis using firm fixed-effects regression model indicate that bank performance is significantly and positively affected by the chairman ownership and the CEO ownership. However, board independent members' ownership has a negative influence on bank performance. While non-executive board members' ownership and family board members have an insignificant impact on bank performance. Control variables, including board size, non-executive board members, government ownership, leverage, and bank size are significantly associated with bank performance. Overall, the results indicate that Saudi bank performance is higher in smaller banks that have smaller boards with lower non-executive members, lower portion of shares held by independent board members, higher portion of shares held by the chairman, CEO, and government, and higher leverage. The results of this study provide important implications for regulatory authorities and market participants in Saudi Arabia and countries with ownership concentration to understand the actual role of different categories of board ownership on firm performance in addition to optimize board ownership.

디지털 방사선 장비에서 요추 측면 검사 시 사용되는 조사야 크기에 영향을 미치는 요인의 상관관계 분석 (Correlation Analysis of Factors Affecting the Collimator Size used during Lumbar Spine Lateral Examination in Digital Radiography System)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 디지털 방사선 장비를 이용하여 요추 측면 검사 시 사용되고 있는 조사야 크기 및 조사야 크기에 영향을 미치는 요인의 상관관계 분석을 통해, 적절한 조사야 크기 및 중심 엑스선 입사지점을 제안하는데 있다. 2023년 1월 1일부터 2023년 12월 31일까지 S병원 영상의학과에서 요추 측면 검사를 시행한 환자 중 본 연구 목적에 적합한 148명의 검사 결과를 분석하였다. 측정 방법은 영상에서 나타난 전체 가로 폭을 검사 시 사용된 조사야 가로폭의 크기(CS)로 설정하고, 영상에 포함된 등쪽 조사야 끝에서부터 제 3요추의 척추 돌기관절까지 수직으로 연결한 거리(AJD), 영상의 조사야 등쪽 끝 부분에서 제 3요추 몸통 중심까지의 거리(BD), 영상의 등쪽 조사야 끝 부분에서 제 3요추의 척추 경 중심까지의 거리(PD)를 측정하였다. 성별, 연령, 신장, 체중, 체질량지수에 따른 종속변수의 평균값의 비교분석을 위해 독립표본 t 검정과 일원배치분산분석을 이용해 평균값을 비교하였으며, 사후분석으로는 duncan을 이용했다. 독립변수와 종속변수 간의 상관성은 pearson 상관분석을 통해 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 통계적 유의성은 p값 0.05 이하를 유의한 것으로 설정하였다. 요추 측면 검사 시 CS의 평균값은 252.45 mm 였으며, AJD는 102.11 mm, BD는 141.17 mm, PD는 119.73 mm로 나타났다. CS 및 AJD, BD, PD는 남성이 여성에 비해 평균값이 크게 나타났으나, 성별에 따른 평균값 차이에 대한 통계적 유의성은 BD에서만 나타났다(p<0.05). 연령에 따른 그룹별 평균값에 약간의 차이는 있었지만 통계적 유의성은 없었다(p>0.05). 신장, 체중, 체질량지수에 따른 CS 및 AJD, BD, PD의 평균값은 독립변수에 따라 차이가 있었으며, 그 차이는 모두 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.05). 상관관계 분석 결과, 조사야 크기 및 AJD, BD, PD는 성별, 연령과는 상관성이 없었으며, 신장과는 약한 양의 상관관계를 보였고, 체중과 체질량지수와는 중간 정도 양의 상관관계를 나타냈다. 본 연구의 결과 요추 측면 검사 시 CS는 신장과 체중, BMI와 상관성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 임상에서 조사야 크기 조절시 체중과 체질량지수를 고려하여 중심 엑스선의 입사점을 척추 돌기관절로 이동시킨다면, 약 5%의 조사야 크기 감소 효과를 기대할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

Determinants of Liquidity in Manufacturing Firms

  • This study examines the factors that affect firm's liquidity in manufacturing companies listed in Vietnam. Factors studied include the board size, the board independence, the firm size, the firm age, and its return. We use different metrics to measure firm's solvency status, including the cash ratio, the quick ratio, and the cash conversion cycle. Accordingly, three econometric models are built to test hypotheses proposed by researchers in order to explain the relationship between the five factors above and liquidity's measures. The study used the data set of manufacturing companies listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange in the period from 2015 to 2019. The final sample group comprises 139 firms with 633 observations. The results show that in manufacturing firms, while the cash ratio and the quick ratio are positively associated to the board size, the board independence, and the firm's profitability, the net operating cycle is negatively correlated to the board size, the firm size, the board independence, and the profitability. Therefore, larger firms with larger board size and more independent members can help to improve capital management efficiency.There is no evidence for the relationship between the firm age and solvency measurements, between cash conversion cycle and firm's profitability.

차종별 소규모 회전교차로 사고의 분석 및 논의 (Analysis and Discussion of Small-size Roundabout Accidents by Vehicle Type)

  • This study deals with the small-size roundabout accidents. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of small-size roundabout accidents from developing various types of accident models, and to discuss the improvement countermeasures by vehicle type. The geometric characteristics of 36 roundabouts are surveyed, and the traffic accident data from 2008 to 2014 are collected and classified as those of car, truck and motor cycle. In this study, dependent variable is the number of accident and independent variables are such 15 variables as geometry and traffic volume. The main results are as follows. First, the null hypotheses that the size of roundabout and type of vehicle are not related to traffic accident are rejected. Second, 8 count data models which are all statistically significant are developed. Third, the number of circulatory roadway lane and sidewalk are selected as common variables of roundabout size. Finally, the number of entry and circulatory roadway lane are selected as common variables of vehicle type.

  • 소프트웨어 시스템이 양도된 이후에 시스템의 크기가 성장하는 과정을 나타내는 수학적 모델인 소프트웨어 성장 모델은 시스템의 크기와 계획된 크기를 달성하기 위해 요구되는 노력을 예측하는데 사용될 수 있다. 본 논문은 먼저 시스템의 크기 변화량이 추가되는 노력에 비례하고 시스템의 복잡도에 반비례한다는 가정하에서 소프트웨어 성장 모델을 유도한다. 이 모델에서는 시스템의 복잡도가 중요한 역할을 하는데, 본 논문에서는 시스템 크기의 멱함수 형태인 복잡도를 제안하고 실제 자료에 적용하여, 그 유용성을 보인다. 멱함수 형태의 시스템 복잡도는 추가로 복잡도 비교할 수 있게 하는 측도를 제공하는데, 이 측도는 시스템 크기에 무관하므로 크기가 다른 소프트웨어 시스템의 복잡도를 비교하는데 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.

Non-stationary vibration and super-harmonic resonances of nonlinear viscoelastic nano-resonators

  • This paper analyzes the non-stationary vibration and super-harmonic resonances in nonlinear dynamic motion of viscoelastic nano-resonators. For this purpose, a new coupled size-dependent model is developed for a plate-shape nano-resonator made of nonlinear viscoelastic material based on modified coupled stress theory. The virtual work induced by viscous forces obtained in the framework of the Leaderman integral for the size-independent and size-dependent stress tensors. With incorporating the size-dependent potential energy, kinetic energy, and an external excitation force work based on Hamilton's principle, the viscous work equation is balanced. The resulting size-dependent viscoelastically coupled equations are solved using the expansion theory, Galerkin method and the fourth-order Runge-Kutta technique. The Hilbert-Huang transform is performed to examine the effects of the viscoelastic parameter and initial excitation values on the nanosystem free vibration. Furthermore, the secondary resonance due to the super-harmonic motions are examined in the form of frequency response, force response, Poincare map, phase portrait and fast Fourier transforms. The results show that the vibration of viscoelastic nanosystem is non-stationary at higher excitation values unlike the elastic ones. In addition, ignoring the small-size effects shifts the secondary resonance, significantly.

반응표면분석법을 이용한 식혜의 최적 분무건조 조건 (Optimization of spray drying condition of Sikhye using response surface methodology)

  • 본 연구는 식혜의 편이성, 유통성, 저장성을 향상시키기 위하여 피막물질을 첨가하고 분무건조를 통하여 분말화를 하고자 하였다. 최적조건 설정을 위하여 반응표면분석법을 이용하였으며 독립변수는 피막물질 maltodextrin의 첨가량(%), 분무건조기의 inlet 온도($^{\circ}C$) 그리고 분무건조기내 시료의 공급속도(mL/min)로 설정하였으며 이에 따라 영향을 받는 반응변수는 분말의 흡습량(g), 용해도(%), 입자크기(${\mu}m$)로 설정하였다. 각 반응변수에 따른 회귀식은 흡습량은 p<0.001, 용해도는 p<0.05, 입자크기는 P<0.001 수준에서 유의성이 인정되었다. 그리고 각 독립변수와 종속변수의 영향을 나타내는 반응표면그래프를 이용하여 최적 분말화 조건을 예측한 결과 각 종속변수 최적점인 MD 22%, 분무건조기의 inlet 온도 $140^{\circ}C$ 그리고 분무건조기 내로 유입되는 시료의 공급속도는 51 mL/min로 예측되었다.
