  • The variations of the properties of Sr and Mg added $LaGaO_3$ system electrolyte with the amount of the additive and the sintering condition were studied. Main phase was (La$_{1-x}Sr_x)(Ga_{1-y}Mg_y)O_{3-\delta}$ phase for each compositions and the single phases $(La_{0.85}Sr_{0.15})(Ga_{0.85}Mg_{0.15})O_{3-\delta},(La_{0.85}Sr_{0.15})(Ga_{0.8}Mg_{0.2})O_{3-\delta}$ and $(La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2})(Ga_{0.8}Mg_{0.2})O{3-\delta}$ were obtained with the decrease in the sintering temperature and Mg addition. Thermal expansion coefficient of the $(La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2})(Ga_{0.8}Mg_{0.2})O_{3-\delta}$ decreased with the increase in the sintering temperature. Electric conductivity of electrolyte sintered at $1500^{circ}C$ for 1h was 0.14 S/cm at $800^{circ}C$ with 1 mA.

  • The microstructure and electrical characteristics of A ∼ C's ZnO varistors fabricated according to variable sintering condition, which sintering temperature was 1130 $^{\circ}C$ and speeds of pusher were A: 2 mm/min, B: 4 mm/min, C: 6 mm/min, respectively, were investigated. The experimental results obtained from this study were summarized as follows: The sintering density of A ∼C's ZnO varistors sintered at 1130 $^{\circ}C$ were decreased by sintering keep time to shorten, such as A: 9hour, B: 4.5hour and C: 3hour. A's ZnO varistor exhibited good densification nearly 98 % of theory density. In the microstructure, A∼C's ZnO varistors fabricated variable sintering condition was consisted of ZnO grain(ZnO), spinel phase(Z $n_{2.33}$S $b_{0.67}$ $O_4$), Bi-rich phasc(B $i_2$ $O_3$), wholly. Varistor voltage of A∼C's ZnO varistors sintered at 1130 $^{\circ}C$ increased in order A

  • In general, a sintered rod is used as a feed in the growth of crystals by the floating zone(FZ) method. The sintering condition of the feed rod affected the stability of molten zone because it influenced the interface shape between the feed and the melt during the crystal growth. In this study, rutile and ruby crystals were chosen as samples to analyze the effect of the microstructures of the feed rods. In sintering of the feed rod for the growth of rutile and ruby single crystals, the difference of grain size between the inner and the outer region of the feed rod increased with the sintering temperature and dwelling time. As a result, it altered melting behavior of the feed. The uniform grain size of the sintered rod was necessary for the optimum growing condition of crystals. The effect of pores in the feed rod was not a dominant factor to grow crystals by the FZ method, which was confirmed by growing crystals with nonsinterd rods as feeds.

  • Effect of sintering condition in mechanical properties of ZrSiO\ulcorner shell molds was investigated. Number of microcrack in primary layer of the mold was maximized after preheating at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 1.5 hours. Yield strength and specific surface area of the mold were inversely proportion to sintering temperature and time. After hot deformation test at $1500^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours, molds were deformed opposite to the loading direction and backup layers were cracked along the interface between stucco and zircon slurry. Reverse deformation of the molds during hot deformation test was considered to be resulted from the difference of thermal expansion coefficient between alumina stucco and zircon slurry in primary coat, and size difference between zircon stucco and zircon slurry in backup coat.

  • The microstructure and electrical characteristics of A~C's ZnO varistors fabricated according to variable sintering condition, which sintering temperature is $1130^{\circ}C$ and speeds of pusher are A: 2mm/min, B: 4mm/min, C: 6mm/min, respectively, were investigated. In the microstructure, A~C's ZnO varist-ors fabricated variable sintering condition was consisted of ZnO grain(ZnO), spinel phase$(Zn_{2.33}Sb_{0.67}O_4)$ Bi-rich $phase(Bi_{2}O_{3})$, wholly. Varistor voltage of A~C's ZnO varistors sintered at $1130^{\circ}C$ increased in order A < B < C's ZnO varistors. C's ZnO varistor exhibited good characteristics that nonlinear exponent is 31.70. Leakage current of A~C's ZnO varistors exhibited below 2mA at rated voltage. Lightning impulse residual voltage of A's ZnO varistor suited standard characteristics, which is 3.85kV at 2.5kA, 4.4kV at 5kA and 5.16kV at 10kA. After multi lightning impulse residual voltage test of A's ZnO varistor exhibited good discharge characteristics which ZnO varistor reveals no evidence of puncture, flashover, cracking in visual examination. After high current impulse test of A's ZnO varistor exhibited good discharge characteristics, which variation rate of residual voltage is 0.4% before and after test, and revealed no evidence.

  • YSZ (yttria-stabilized zirconia) determined with an electrolyte that analyzed thermal stability along sintering condition and an electric characteristic. As sintering temperature increases by SEM, grain grows and it showed that pore decreases relatively. and confirmed effect by grain size. It evaluated that particle internal resistance and electric performance by resistance in an electrolyte and electricity conductivity measurement through ac impedance measurement in temperature of $800\~1000^{\circ}C$ in 2-probe method In order to recognize an electric characteristic. In dry process and wet process, density was each 6.13, 6.25 $g/cm^3$ and the relative density was each 98, 99$\%$ when sintering condition is $1400^{\circ}C$.

  • Stoichiometric mullite ($3Al_2$$O_3$. $2SiO_2$) precursor sol has been prepared by sol-gel method. The effects of the precursor pH and sintering temperature on the synthesizing behavior and morphology of mullite have been studied. Mullite precursor sol was prepared by dissolution of aluminum nitrate enneahydrate (Al($NO_3$)$_3$.9H$_2O) into the mixture of silica sol. Precursor pH of the sols was controlled to acidic condition ($PH\leq$ 1~1.5) and to basic condition ($pH\geq$8.5~9). The synthesized aluminosilicate sols were formed under 20 MPa pressure after drying at $150^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours, and then sintered for 3hours in the temperature range of $1100~1600^{\circ}C$. From TGA/DTA analysis, total weight loss in the aluminosilicate gel of the acidic sample was (equation omitted) 56% and that of the basic sample was (equation omitted) 85%, indicating that the synthesizing temperature of mullite phase for acidic and basic samples was above $1200^{\circ}C$ and $1300^{\circ}C$, respectively. The morphologies of the synthesized mullite were fine and needle-like (or rod-like) for acidic sample, and granular for basic sample that has been sintered above $1300^{\circ}C$. It was found that the morphology of mullite particle was predominantly governed by precursor pH and sintering temperature.

  • 20vol% Al2O3-dispersed 2Y-TZP ceramics was prepared by mixing of 2Y-TZP and Al2O3 powder with different particle sizes, and investigated the influence of Al2O3 particle size and sintering condition on the microstructure and fracture toughness. Sintering conditions of the Al2O3-dispersed 2Y-TZP specimens showed high density at sintering condition of 1350℃ and 1500℃ for 1∼5h, and homogeneous microstructure. The grain size of tetragonal zirconia and the fracture toughness increased with the size of dispersed Al2O3 particle. The highest fracture toughness (∼17.2MPa·m1/2) of all specimens was obtained in the specimens with dispersed Al2O3 particle size of 1.0㎛ and sintered at 1500℃ for 2h.
