  • The effectiveness of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripter(ESWL) for the therapy of calculus has been generally known in the field of urology. However, there are very little paper investigated about physical characteristics of sounds radiated when phantom is shotting with shock waves. Therefore, this paper, firstly, investigates the sounds radiated when impact is applied to the phantom with a single shot by an impact hammer and a clinical ESWL Next, it determines the variance of the sounds radiated during the breaking process using a piece of chalk as a phantom of a calculus. These results will be applied to the examination of the existence of the calculus at the focus and the monitoring the breaking process.

  • Workflow systems are software systems that control the execution of long-term processes. Members of an organization are in charge of executing processes. A work assignment policy, i.e who should perform a certain piece of process, has to be modeled and implemented in workflow systems. Organizations may have a large variety of problems in work assignment, and it may not be feasible to devise a single model to cover all problems. In this paper, we introduce generality to work assignment design problems in workflow systems We provide a meta-model based approach which enables us to define arbitrary problem oriented work assignment policies.

Development of Superconducting Transition Edge Sensors for Gamma Ray Detection (감마선 검출을 위한 초전도 상전이 센서)

  • We are developing a sensitive gamma ray spectrometer based on superconducting transition edge sensors. The detector consists of a small piece of high purity Sn as an absorber and a Ti/Au bilayer as a temperature sensor. It is designed to measure the thermal signal caused by absorption of gamma rays. The mechanical support and the thermal contact between the absorber and the thermometer were made with Stycast epoxy. The bilayer was formed by e-beam evaporation and patterned by wet etching on top of a $SiN_X$ membrane. A sharp superconducting transition of the film was measured near 100 mK. When the film was biased to the edge of the transition, signals were observed due to single photon absorption emitted from an $^{241}Am$ source. The measured spectrum showed several characteristic peaks of the source including 59.5 keV gamma line. The full with at half maximum was about 900 eV for the 59.5 keV gamma line. The background was low enough to resolve low energy lines. Considerations to improve the energy resolution of the gamma ray spectrometer are also discussed.

Late reconstruction of extensive orbital floor fracture with a patient-specific implant in a bombing victim

  • Fractures of the orbital floor and walls are among the most frequent maxillofacial fractures. Virtual three-dimensional (3D) planning and use of patient-specific implants (PSIs) could improve anatomic and functional outcomes in orbital reconstruction surgery. The presented case was a victim of a terrorist attack involving improvised explosive devices. This 58-year-old female suffered severe wounds caused by a single piece of metal from a bomb, shattering the left orbital floor and lateral orbital wall. Due to remaining hypotropia of the left eye compared to the right eye, late orbital floor reconstruction was carried out with a personalised 3D printed titanium implant. We concluded that this technique with PSI appears to be a viable method to correct complex orbital floor defects. Our research group noted good aesthetic and functional results one year after surgery. Due to the complexity of the surgery for a major bony defect of the orbital floor, it is important that the surgery be executed by experienced surgeons in the field of maxillofacial traumatology.

  • 초고압 CV 케이블용으로 다양한 형태의 접속함이 사용되고 있으나, 최근 케이블 시스템의 사용 전압이 초고압화됨에 따라 접속함 또한 고품질, 고신뢰성이 요구되고 있다. 따라서 공장에서 엄격한 품질 관리가 용이하고, 현장에서 쉽게 조립할 수 있는 프리몰드형 접속함(Premolded Joint: PMJ)의 사용이 급격하게 증대되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 국내에서 최초로 $110kV{\sim}170kV$ 전압급의 PMJ 접속함 개발에 관하여 소개 하였다. 전기적, 기계적 및 열적 설계의 개념을 간략하게 소개하였으며, 접속함의 초기 성능 및 장기 신뢰성을 검증하기 위한 시험 및 평가 결과를 소개하였다.

A study on the vest shape and tailoring of the Korean Empire in the 1900s (대한제국기 남자 조끼 형태 및 제작법에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to fundamentally examine the vests of the robes "Daeraebok" and "Soraebok" of the Korean Empire from the 1876 Port Opening to the 1910 annexation of Korea to Japan. Among the collections of different robes of the Korean Empire which belong to various universities and institutions, only the vests were surveyed. The shape of the vests in the Korean Empire were single-breasted and double-breasted. Most V-necklines and vests with a shawl collar look like a tailored collar, where the collar outline was shaped like a notched and picked collar, which is a mix of the step collar and roll collar of the 19th century. The rear center line was not flat, but inclined to a triangle. All vests of the robe Daeraebok were equipped with gold buttons, and those of the robe Soraebok had black satin buttons. The tailoring characteristic is that the front has a different material (dark black wool) from the back (black silk). This characteristic is expected to be an important basic piece of information in the restoration and reproduction of the vest, which was worn during the imperial period, especially to reveal its shape, characteristics and composition. This characteristic can also be used as data of cultural contents based on Korean modern history.

  • The development of an exclusive 8-axis multi-tasking machine to finish multiple cutting processes by a single piece of power equipment for securing the high-precision machining and high productivity of the series of shafts (a core part of the automotive powertrain that delivers engine power) is needed. The rigidity of the structure must be improved and the weight of the structure must be reduced to develop a multi-tasking machine with high precision and high productivity. In this paper, we perform a static structural analysis of the initial design of the multi-tasking machines and compare the results of the multi-tasking machines improved by the reinforced design and the results of the initial one. According to the results of the structural analysis, the rigidity of the reinforced machine was increased and the overall weight was decreased. Therefore, the productivity was increased.

  • The descendants have a responsibility to conserve their cultural treasure and hand it down to posterity. Most of existing wooden properties, affected by environmental factors for many years, have been rebuilt or repaired many times. Kwandeogjeong, Cultural Properties Materials 322, has gone through rebuilding or repairing 11 times. It was natural that Kwandeogjeong lost its originality and attempt to restore it was made by Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea. But the restoration depends on a piece of picture, which was taken before 1900. It had been impossible to draw any data from the picture for restoration. In this study, I was able to obtain data for its restoration through geometrical analysis, using the vanishing point of the picture. These data were also used as preliminary data for its restoration.

  • In terms of expression, beauty illustration has become more diverse and innovative. Because of continued unique creative activities, more novelty has been pursued. In this study, beauty illustration in new artistic and decorative images was used to investigate the basic concepts of art activities, illustration and beauty illustration and make up for beauty illustration which adheres to traditional and classical expressions. In this study, the following results were obtained: First, in terms of expression of beauty illustration, the work with art expressions are still poor compared to other fields such as fashion illustration. Therefore, it is necessary to attempt beauty illustration of a new image which expresses artistic emotions. Second, by using an artistic technique called 'paper sculpture', a semi-solid shape has been completed, and a decorative beauty illustration was created. People get new inspiration through beautiful and innocent art pieces, which in turn motivate to create new expression. New art activities which take a human body as an art support beauty activities through picture and more sensitive inspiration. It was attempted to express other emotion and beauty by observing a single piece of work. A new possibility in beauty illustration which is differentiated from other art activities is proposed and its domain is developed.

  • Green Frame is a column-beam system formed by composite precast concrete column and beam connected with steel buried in both members. During the installation of Green columns, the columns of Green Frame, covering 3 floors per each piece and beams, the eccentricity can be observed due to the construction error and the weight of beam itself. Such eccentricity may have a little influence on a single frame, yet, it can develop critical issues to the installation of subsequent beams or beams on the upper floors in the context of a building as a whole that has multiple frames. These issues lead to delay in frame installation, decrease of productivity and increase of cost, etc. Therefore, this study presents a steel-joint connection method in order to solve the issues. The steel-joint connection method exists on slope plane and reinforcing plate in steel frame buried in composite PC members. Through this method, the issues can be resolved without requiring additional equipment or manpower.
