  • The portion of single-household in Korea is more than 20% of the total household, and expected to be increase every year and reach 24% in 2030. For the accommodation of single-households, a small housing system called the share-house has appeared and developed in Japan and Europe. In this study, a comparative case analysis was performed to determine the development criteria for foreign and domestic cases. The analysis was conducted in view of the building type and scale, plan layout, add-on facilities and features, and operational methods and target tenants. In the cases of Korea, the share-house is mainly developed through the remodeling of a single detached house with the characteristics of small scale and living room centered plan targeting specific individuals with clear operating themes. For foreign cases, it was developed through the remodeling of various buildings, such as hotels or motels, having the characteristics of medium or large scale and corridor type plan targeting for various individuals with a range of operational methods reflecting regional features.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the energy saving and cost benefit analysis of the Low-income Energy Efficiency Treatment Program supported by KOREF(Korea Energy Foundation). This program was launched in 2007 and performs building energy retrofit for the low-income and energy poverty houses. Method: Energy simulation and cost benefit analysis were accomplished for the low-income detached houses. The structure of detached house was a lot og block structure, wood frame (single glass) and concrete roof. Baseline model of the low-income detached houses was proposed. Result: Annual heating energy consumptions were decreased by about 3.2% with the window system replacement(Case 1), 9.3% with reinforcement of insulation(Case2), and 12.5% with both(Case 3) compared to those of baseline model. The construction cost will be recouped within 5 years for the Case 1, 3 years for the Case 2, and 3 years for the Case 3. Case 3 was the most cost beneficient construction method in the analyzed cases in this study.

The housing subjected was categorized into detached single family houses and apartments, reinforced concrete and brick structures, intermittent and continous heating system, and the space subjected was bedroom. In order to understand the thermal characteristics of each floor heating systems, the vertical distribution of indoor temperature and the distribution of surface temperature on the floor were measured. The vertical distribution of indoor temperature except the measurement point 1 largely showed average temperature distribution, and the temperature of the measurement point 1 in the housing surveyed showed the highest temperature in the house "sample A" because of the radiation heating from the floor of the Ondol room. As the result of the measurement, the thermal characteristics of each heating system were more stable distribution in apartments of R.C structure.structure.
