  • The Nam-Hae Sin-sa, the South Sea shrine in Yeong-Am, Korea was a national institution for public peace and bliss, was excavated in 2000, and the shrine and the 3-way-gate were reconstructed in 2001. Hae Sin-sa, the Sea shrine is a place for religious service separated into the Nam-Hae Sin-sa, the Dong-Hae Myo, and the Seo-Hae Dan. The Dong-Hae Myo was reconstructed, but restored shrine and 3-way-gate of the Nam-Hae Sin-sa is not perfect in comparison with excavation plan in 2000, therefore new reconstruction was researched through the related literature, the analysis of historical maps and excavation results, the interview with the concerned people and the case study. This research defines the analysis of the Plan of the Nam-Hae Sin-sa Reconstruction as follows. 1. The Nam-Hae Sin-sa was the institution for religious service operated by national direct management, represents the shrine for public peace and bliss on the Mountain, the Sea, and the River. Especially the Nam-Hae Sin-sa had an important position on the pivot of international trade with China and Japan, and had a role of main shrine with another one in the Mt. Ji-ri San. 2. The name of the Sea shrine was called as Nam-Hae Sin-sa(the South Sea shrine), Dong-Hae Myo(the East Sea shrine), Seo-Hae Dan(the West Sea shrine). But the name of the South Sea shrine had changed in the early period of Chosun as Nam-Hae Sin-sa to the later Chosun as Nam-Hae Dang through the research of related literature and historical map. Such as the Seo-Hae Dan, it was constructed for the Dan, the flat raised-floor without buildings, and changed to the type of Sa-Dang with addition of buildings. 3. The historical map of Hae Sin-sa informs the types of the roof, the Mat-bae roof was used in the Dong-Hae Myo, but the Pal-jak roof was showed in the Seo-Hae Dan and the Nam-Hae Sin-sa. 4. According to the analysis of Yong-Ch'uck the unit length, Nam-Hae Sin-sa was reconstructed in the period of Koryo on large scale, but it was restored in the Chosun on middle scale. And the Unit of Yong Ch'uck was changed into Yeong-jo Ch'uck in the period of Chosun. 5. As the results, The Plan of the Nam-Hae Sin-sa Reconstruction designed the new shrine into the 3 Kan front and the 2 Kan side with 3:2 scale. An-ch'o-gong with Yong-du and Yong Mi the ornaments represents head and tail of dragon, the Un-gong and the ornament of Pa-ryun-dae-gong in the building, and the Ch'ung-ryang of the Yong-du show the image of the institution for religious service for the god of the sea who look like dragon. The inner gate building and the main entrance were designed as same plan and scale as Hyang-gyo, the Korean Traditional School and Shrine of Confucianism, on the basis of results of excavation. Raise the 3-tall gate of the main entrance with harmony of the scale and the shape, because the side of gate building has the Mat-bae roof. 6. This research shows that Plan of the Nam-Hae Sin-sa Reconstruction is composed into shrine space and reservation space from the main entrance to inner gate and shrine like Jung-ak Dan in the Mt. Gye-ryong San, and it also informs the well in the west side of Sin-sa is an important factor of the plan of shrine architecture.

  • As NGIS project has been implemented in 1995 and effectiveness of geospatial information increased, Digital maps serve several purpose in administrative, living, and the variety of industrial fields. But, Digital maps have difficulties in application of managing urban facilities due to many differences with real world information caused by high update cost and long generation period. This paper suggests an update method of building layers of digital map in urban area; first, we verify the filtered building information using digital areal imagery and LiDAR data which is high-accurate and also can be faster and more economical in 3D information acquisition, and finally update building layers by comparing with the existed digital map. Future research will concentrate on automatic removal of the small and the tree regions, discrimination of buildings and vegetation for generating and updating building layers using LiDAR data.

  • We have investigated analytically and numerically on both the generalized dimension D sub(n) and the fractal dimensionality f sub($\alpha$) in the dissipative Willbrink map. and discussed both the mode-locking phenomenon and the dissipative trajectory when z=0.03, b=0.9 and K sub(d) =0.272313668. In the mode-locking phenomenon. we find that the generalized dimension D sub(-n) and superconverged $\delta$ sub(n) are very close to D sub(-$\infty$) =0.92403 and $\delta$ sub($\infty$) =2.16442 even for n~20 as listed in Table 1. In dissipative trajectory, the values of D sub(+n) and D sub(-n) for n~20 are estimated to be very close to D sub(+$\infty$) =0.63267 and D sub(-$\infty$) =1.89802 on the circle map. Thus, the values of the generalized dimension as nlongrightarrow$\infty$ on dissipative Willbrink map are expected to be the same results as those for the circle map and to have the universal scaling exponents for a special scaling structure when the values of overbar(w), z, b, and k sub(d) have the different values.

  • In ubiquitous GIS system, the spatial information could be updated and utilied by mobile terminals. Spatial information stored in mobile terminals should be able to synchronize to the server. However, in mobile environment, there are some limitations in synchronization service due to the limited bandwidth. The ActMAP system, that was developed to consider of mobile environment, has suggested a partial update protocal for synchronization in order to solve the narrow bandwidth problem. But it is still has a problem that it does not consider two-way synchronization between a server and a mobile terminal. This paper suggests a two-way synchronization protocol between a server and mobile terminals. It, therefore, is inclined to supporting updated and utilization of spatial information using mobile terminals.

  • Unmanned ground vehicles may be operated by remote control unit through the wireless communication or autonomously. However, the autonomous technology is still challenging and not perfectly developed. For some reason or other, the wireless communication is not always available. If wireless communication is abruptly disconnected, the UGV will be nothing but a lump of junk. What was worse, the UGV can be captured by enemy. This paper suggests a method, autonomous return technology with which the UGV can autonomously go back to a safer position along the reverse path. The suggested autonomous return technology for UGV is based on multi-correlated information based DB creation and matching. While SUGV moves by remote-control, the multi-correlated information based DB is created with the multi-sensor information; the absolute position of the trajectory is stored in DB if GPS is available and the hybrid MAP based on the fusion of VISION and LADAR is stored with the corresponding relative position if GPS is unavailable. In multi-correlated information based autonomous return, SUGV returns autonomously based on DB; SUGV returns along the trajectory based on GPS-based absolute position if GPS is available. Otherwise, the current position of SUGV is first estimated by the relative position using multi-sensor fusion followed by the matching between the query and DB. Then, the return path is created in MAP and SUGV returns automatically based on the MAP. Experimental results on the pre-built trajectory show the possibility of the successful autonomous return.

  • Visibility of the satellite navigation is related to a environmental condition of a receiver. Obstacles like buildings and trees in urban areas can block signals and have effects on accuracy and reliability of positioning. This paper presents a method of creating 3D analysis model of urban canyon of Seoul using three-Dimensional digital map. Analysis techniques of visible satellites with Ray-Polygon Collision Detection and validation of algorithm through field tests are discussed. We have compared and analyzed the visibility of GPS and Galileo with respect to separate and simultaneous tracking in view of DOP (Dilution of Precision) using the 3D GIS digital map.

  • Exploring distributional patterns of multivariate data is very essential in understanding the characteristics of given data set, as well as in building plausible models for the data. For that purpose, low-dimensional visualization methods have been developed by many researchers along various directions. As one of methods, Kohonen's SOM (Self-Organizing Map) is prominent. SOM compresses the volume of the data, yields abstraction from the data and offers visual display on low-dimensional grids. Although it is proven quite effective, it has one undesirable property: SOM's display is discrete. In this study, we propose two techniques for enhancing quality of SOM's display, so that SOM's display becomes continuous. The proposed methods are demonstrated in two numerical examples.

  • Currently, Korea is ahead of the forest sector such as forest management, forest investigation and forest management, which is not insufficient compared with the forest advanced countries (Germany, Japan, Austria). However, there is a lack of systematic and advanced forest management plan and related research, and it is not enough to construct GIS for practical and complex analysis. Therefore, in order to perform forest analysis effectively, this study maps forest basic statistics (2010, 2015) based on GIS to map forest information. As a result, the forest area, growing stock, average growing stock, and forest rate could be produced with the maximized visual effect by detailed administrative districts, and systematic analysis of the time series changes was also possible. Forest area increased only in Goseong, Sejong, Cheolwon, Yeoncheon, Daejeon, and Seoul Guro-gu, and decreased in all other areas, while growing stock increased in most areas, Uljin, Ulleung, Seoul Nowon-gu, and Seoul Gangdong-gu. The average growing stock was found to increase in most areas excluding the four administrative districts and the forest rate was higher in 10 regions (Goseong, Yeoncheon, Gongju, Busan Dong-gu, Daegu Seo-gu, etc.) but it decreased in most regions excluding 10 regions. Based on this research, we plan to produce and analyze forest information maps for smaller administrative districts and more.
