서비스양을 고려한 수가 결정모형에 의한 추정 환산지수와 실제 환산지수의 비교 (Comparison Actual Conversion Factor with Estimated Conversion Factor by Fee Adjustment Model Reflecting Health Service Volume)

  • Background: Price control alone may not successfully restrain growth in health expenditures. This study aimed to propose fee adjustment model suitable for Korea reflecting health service volume and to clarify applicability of the model by comparing actual conversion factor with estimated conversion factor from simulation of this model. Methods: Fee adjustment model was developed based on Alberta's fee adjustment formula in Canada and 7 alternatives were assessed according to diversely applied parameters of the model. Results: Estimated conversion factors of the tertiary care hospital and the hospital were lower than actual conversion factors, since the utilization of heath service has been increased. However, there was no big difference between estimated conversion factors and actual conversion factors of the general hospital and the clinic. Eventually this fee adjustment model could estimate proper conversion factor reflecting health service volume. Conclusion: This model may be applicable to the mechanism as determining conversion factor between insurer and provider via negotiation and controling growth in health expenditures.

컨테이너 터미널에서 컨테이너 크레인의 하역능력 추정에 관한 시뮬레이션 연구 (A Simulation Study on Efficiency of Container Crane in Container Terminal)

  • This paper describes the simulation study which estimates the container crane efficiency in container terminal. In most simulation studies, it is assumed that container cranes are available at any time. Though the failures of container cranes don't occur often, they are very serious problems on terminal efficiency. As usual, the failures of container crane cause arrived ships to delay the departure time. In this study, a queueing simulation model for container terminal, which focuses on the failures of container cranes, is designed. The simulation approach appears to be the most appropriate one because it allows to avoid the usual exponential assumption on interarrivals of ships and service times of container cranes. Using the developed model, we tested the efficiency of container cranes considering failures with a real system size and performed the simulation experiment on real container terminal to validate the developed simulation model. The results of simulation experiment were analyzed using output statistics, which include the waiting times of vessels and yard tractors, the utilization for container cranes, and the berth occupancy rates.

ATM 망에서 ABR 서비스 대역 할당을 위한 Dynamic MB 메카니즘 (Dynamic movable boundary mechanism for bandwidth alloc ation of ABR service in ATM networks)

  • In this paper, we show the movable boundary (MB) method is the effective bandwidth allocation strategy for the ABR service among existing bandwidth allocation methods. The MB method can gurantee the QOS requirement according to the service priority and improve bandwidth utilization using the characteristics of the ABR service. The threshold values of the MB, which have an important effect upon connection blocking probability(CBP) performance of each service, are obtained by simulation. The MB method with the fixed thresholds, however, may not have good performance to variation of input traffic parameters. We suggest the dynamic MB method which changes the threshold values adaptively according to the required bandwidth of input traffic. We also show that the dynamic MB method can urantee the CBP performance according to the service priority regardless of variation of input traffic parameters.

Service Block Based Resource Allocation Scheme for Macrocell-Femtocell Networks

  • The heterogeneous LTE (Long Term Evolution)-Advanced networks comprising a macrocell and femtocells can provide an efficient solution not only to extend macrocell coverage but also to deal with packet traffics increasing explosively within macrocells. An efficient resource management scheme is necessary to maintain the QoS (Quality of Service) of mobile multimedia services because the LTE-Advanced system should support not only voice but also mobile applications such as data, image and video. This paper proposes a resource management scheme to guarantee QoS continuity of multimedia services and to maximize the resource utilization in OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) based LTE-Advanced systems. This scheme divides the resources into several service blocks and allocates those resources based on the competition between macrocell and femtocell. Simulation results show that it provides better performances than the conventional one in respect of handover failure rate and blocking rate.

  • 본 논문에서는 광대역 스펙트럼 인지 무선망에서 인지사용자의 요구자원의 크기에 따라 스펙트럼 홀의 그룹핑 범위를 변화시키는 동적 스펙트럼 홀 그룹핑 방식을 제안하고, 광대역 인지사용자의 서비스를 위한 채널할당에 적용한다. 제안한 동적 스펙트럼 홀 그룹핑 방식은 인지사용자의 요구자원의 크기를 예측하여 필요한 양 만큼 주사용자의 스펙트럼 홀을 그룹핑함으로써 기존의 정적 스펙트럼 홀 그룹핑에 의해 발생 할 수 있는 스펙트럼 자원의 낭비를 개선 할 수 있다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 동적 스펙트럼 홀 그룹핑 방식과 기존의 정적 스펙트럼 홀 그룹핑 방식에 의한 채널할당의 자원사용률을 비교하여, 허용할 수 있는 인지사용자의 서비스 성능에서 자원이용률을 크게 향상시킬 수 있음을 보인다.

  • As real-time processing of data with large storage space is required in the era of multimedia, disk arrays are generally used as storage subsystems which be able to provide improved I/O performance. To design the cost-effective disk array, it is important to develop performance models which evaluate the disk array performance. Both queueing theory and simulation are applicable as the method of performance evaluation through queueing modeling. But there is a limit to the analytical method using queueing theory due to the characteristics of disk array requests being serviced in the parallel and concurrent manner. So in this paper we evaluate the disk array performance using simulation method which abstract disk array systems in the low level. Performance results were evaluated through simulation, so that mean response time, mean queueing delay, mean service time, mean queue length for disk array requests and utilization, throughput for disk array systems, can be utilized for capacity planning in the phase of disk array design.

해군 건선거 모의실험 연구 (A Simulation Study of Navy Drydocks)

  • A simulation study was conducted to determine optimum capacity of Navy drydock facility using GASP-IV, an advanced FORTRAN-based simulation language, under demands of regular overhauls and emergency repairs by ships of an hypothetical fleet composition. Three year dock usage data was analyzed to produce probability distributions underlying drydock repair demands. The present facility size of two drydocks was simulated and was found to be somewhat short of adequate service capability, showing excessive average waiting time and average queue length. The simulation model was then modified to include an additional drydock of similar size as the other two and a year's simulation was again conducted. All repair needs were quite satisfactorily met and all docks showed very high utilization factor (0.98). This contributed to an increase in the fleet's ship availability from 0.95 to 0.99. This study illustrates the usefulness of simulation technique as a tool for analyzing policy alternatives in military long-term investment areas.

  • 본 연구는 대기행렬 네트워크 시뮬레이션에서 통제변수를 활용하여 목표 반응변수를 보다 더 정확히 추정하는 기법을 탐색한다. 반응변수 추정에서 통제변수기법의 효율성은 반응변수와 높은 상관관계를 가지는 통제변수의 선택과 선택된 통제변수를 이용하여 통제추정량을 어떻게 정의하는가에 따라 달라진다. 대기행렬 네트워크 시뮬레이션 모형에서 확률적 모형의 발전과정은 확률적 서비스시간과 분지 확률에 의하여 재현된다. 대부분의 통제변수기법은 통제추정치 구성에서 서비스 시간 확률변수를 사용한다. 본 연구는 서비스 시간 확률변수와 분지 확률변수를 동시에 사용하는 통제 추정량을 제안하고 이를 컴퓨터 네트워크 시스템의 관심 반응변수 추정에 응용하여 그 효율성을 탐색하고자 한다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 반응변수 추정에 있어서 분지확률 통제변수의 활용 가능성을 제시하고 있으며, 서비스-시간과 분지확률을 동시에 이용하는 결합 통제변수의 활용은 향후 연구가 필요한 분야로 판단된다.

시뮬레이션을 통한 AIN IP 시스템의 호처리용량 분석 (Performance Analysis of an Intelligent Peripheral System in Advanced Intelligent Network)

  • Intelligent Peripheral(IP) system is to provide specialized resource functions (SRF) such as playing announcement, collecting user information, and receiving messages in the Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN). We analyze the call processing capacity of an AIN IP system being developed in ETRI through an extensive simulation using SLAM II under a variety of AIN service scenarios. We consider televoting (VOT) and universal personal telecommunication (UPT) services which are to be provided at the fit implementation of the AIN in Korea. As the performance criteria to determine the call processing capacity, processor utilization, delay and call loss probability are considered. It turns out that the major processor called SAMP is the bottleneck processor, the service response delay dominates the delay performance, and the call loss probability becomes the primary criterion in determining the call processing capacity of the AIN IP system. It is also shown that the call processing capacity of the AIN IP system is determined by the utilization of the processor and the delay performance when the VOT ratio is below 70 percent but it is determined by the call loss probability due to the lack of service channels for providing the SRF operations.

An Enhanced Transmission Mechanism for Supporting Quality of Service in Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks

  • Congestion occurring at wireless sensor networks(WSNs) causes packet delay and packet drop, which directly affects overall QoS(Quality of Service) parameters of network. Network congestion is critical when important data is to be transmitted through network. Thus, it is significantly important to effectively control the congestion. In this paper, new mechanism to guarantee reliable transmission for the important data is proposed by considering the importance of packet, configuring packet priority and utilizing the settings in routing process. Using this mechanism, network condition can be maintained without congestion in a way of making packet routed through various routes. Additionally, congestion control using packet service time, packet inter-arrival time and buffer utilization enables to reduce packet delay and prevent packet drop. Performance for the proposed mechanism was evaluated by simulation. The simulation results indicate that the proposed mechanism results to reduction of packet delay and produces positive influence in terms of packet loss rate and network lifetime. It implies that the proposed mechanism contributes to maintaining the network condition to be efficient.
