Kylin-2 is an advanced neutronics lattice code, developed by Nuclear Power Institute of China. High-precision multigroup cross section library is need for KYLIN-2 to carry out simulation of current pressurized water reactor (PWR) and advanced reactor. In this paper a multigroup cross section library generation system named TPAMS was developed, the methods in TPAMS dealing with resonance data such as subgroup parameters, lambda factor, resonance integral were discussed. Moreover, the depletion chain simplification method was studied. TPAMS can produce multigroup library in binary and ASIIC formats, including detailed data contents for resonance, transport and depletion calculations. A multigroup cross section library has been generated for KYLIN-2 based on TPAMS system. The multigroup cross section library was verified through the analysis of various criticality and burnup benchmarks, the values of multiplication factor and isotope density were compared with the experiment data. Numerical results demonstrate the accuracy of the multigroup cross section library and the reliability of the multigroup cross section library generation system TPAMS.

For the purpose of improving accuracy in jet noise prediction and investigating its generation mechanism, high subsonic jets were computed by using compressible Large Eddy Simulation(LES), wherein the inflow forcing or disturbance added in the inflow shear layer was incorporated. The far-field Sound Pressure Levels(SPL) as well as the flow field resulted in good agreement with available experimental data by applying only the high azimuthal modes among the inflow forcing parameters. We found that this result was due to an important role of the inflow forcing upon breaking down the axiymmetric vortices that caused high amplitude velocity and pressure fluctuations. In order to examine generation mechanism of the dominant noise component, wavelet transformation was introduced to reveal the presence of a well-organized structure of pressure fluctuations that originated mainly from vortex motions near the end of the jet potential core. This structure took a train of alternately positive and negative wavelet-transformed pressure regions along the jet distance, spreading towards the downstream with advection and propagation. It was concluded that this structure and its dynamic motion are the reason why a high subsonic jet produces the dominant noise with a particular downstream directivity.
The present study aims to generate turbulent inflow data to more accurately represent the turbulent flow around a square cylinder when the inflow turbulence level is significant. The modified random flow generation (RFG) technique in conjunction with a previously developed LES code is successfully adopted into a finite element based fluid flow solver to generate the required inflow turbulence boundary conditions for the three-dimensional (3-D) LES computations of transitional turbulent flow around a square cylinder at Reynolds number of 22,000. The near wall region is modelled without using wall approximate conditions and a wall damping coefficient is introduced into the calculation of sub-grid length scale in the boundary layer of the cylinder wall. The numerical results obtained from simulations are compared with each other and with the experimental data for different inflow turbulence boundary conditions in order to discuss the issues such as the synthetic inflow turbulence effects on the 3-D transitional flow behaviour in the near wake and the free shear layer, the basic mechanism by which stream turbulence interacts with the mean flow over the cylinder body and the prediction of integral flow parameters. The comparison among the LES results with and without inflow turbulence and the experimental data emphasizes that the turbulent inflow data generated by the present RFG technique for the LES computation can be a viable approach in accurately predicting the effects of inflow turbulence on the near wake turbulent flow characteristics around a bluff body.
In recent years, as human casualties and property damage caused by hazardous waves have increased in the East Sea, precise wave prediction skills have become necessary. In this study, the Simulating WAves Nearshore (SWAN) third-generation numerical wave model was calibrated and optimized to enhance the accuracy of winter storm wave prediction in the East Sea. We used Source Term 6 (ST6) and physical observations from a large-scale experiment conducted in Australia and compared its results to Komen's formula, a default in SWAN. As input wind data, we used Korean Meteorological Agency's (KMA's) operational meteorological model called Regional Data Assimilation and Prediction System (RDAPS), the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts' newest 5th generation re-analysis data (ERA5), and Japanese Meteorological Agency's (JMA's) meso-scale forecasting data. We analyzed the accuracy of each model's results by comparing them to observation data. For quantitative analysis and assessment, the observed wave data for 6 locations from KMA and Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency (KHOA) were used, and statistical analysis was conducted to assess model accuracy. As a result, ST6 models had a smaller root mean square error and higher correlation coefficient than the default model in significant wave height prediction. However, for peak wave period simulation, the results were incoherent among each model and location. In simulations with different wind data, the simulation using ERA5 for input wind datashowed the most accurate results overall but underestimated the wave height in predicting high wave events compared to the simulation using RDAPS and JMA meso-scale model. In addition, it showed that the spatial resolution of wind plays a more significant role in predicting high wave events. Nevertheless, the numerical model optimized in this study highlighted some limitations in predicting high waves that rise rapidly in time caused by meteorological events. This suggests that further research is necessary to enhance the accuracy of wave prediction in various climate conditions, such as extreme weather.

The mobile telecommunication system has been growing exponentially after 1990s due to the high population in a city and the growth of mobile user. In this time, the current mobile system mainly concentrates on the voice communication. However, in the next generation, mobile users want to get very diverse services via mobile terminal such as the Internet access, web access, multimedia communication, and etc. For this reason, the next generation system, such as the UMTS system, has to support the packet data service and it will play the major role in the system. In different from the voice service, the packet data service should store packet data in a buffer at base station before it forwards. Consequently, the performance closely related to the buffer management and its operation. However, until now, there are rare study on the buffer behavior and management. In this paper, we will observe the buffer behavior in the UMTS systems by using simulation and analyze the results. For this research, we generate packet data traffics and model the UMTS system for a simulation. Then we analyze the buffer state by a simulation and calculate the buffer overflow probability by mathematical methods.

Distributed generation(DG) of combined cooling, heat, and power(CCHP)has been gaining momentum in recent year as efficient, secure alternative for meeting increasing energy demands. This paper presents the energy performance of microturbine CCHP system equipped with an absorption chiller by modelling it in hospital building. The orders of study were as following. 1)The list and schedule of energy consumption equipment in hospital were examined such as heating and cooling machine, light etc. 2) Annual report of energy usage and monitoring data were examined as heating, cooling, DHW, lighting, etc. 3) The weather data in 2007 was used for simulation and was arranged by meteorological office data in Daejeon. 4) Reference simulation model was built by comparison of real energy consumption and simulation result by TRNSYS and ESP-r. The energy consumption pattern of building were analyzed by simulation model and energy reduction rate were calculated over the cogeneration. As a result of this study, power generation efficiency of turbine was about 30[%] after installing micro gas turbine and lighting energy as well as total electricity consumption can be reduced by 40[%]. If electricity energy and waste heat in turbine are used, 56[%] of heating energy and 67[%] of cooling energy can be reduced respectively, and total system efficiency can be increased up to 70[%].

Solar power has the largest proportion of power generation and facility capacity among renewable energy in South Korea. Floating solar power plant is a new way to resolve weakness of land solar power plant. This study analyzes the power generation of the 18.7 MW floating solar power project located in Saemangeum, Gunsan-si. Since the solar power generation has a characteristic that is greatly affected by the climate, various methods have been applied to predict solar power generation. In general, variables necessary for predicting power generation are solar insolation on inclined surfaces, solar generation efficiency, and panel installation area. This study analyzed solar power generation using the monthly solar insolation data from the KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration) over the past 10 years. Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) was applied to predict the solar power generation with the variables including solar panel efficiency and insolation. In the case of Saemangeum solar power project, the most solar power generation was in May, the least was in December, the average solar power generation simulated on MCS is 2.1 GWh per month, the minimum monthly power generation is 0.3 GWh, and the maximum is 5.0 GWh.

The Korea Nowadays, which is research on digital twin technology for efficient operation in various industrial/manufacturing sites, is being actively conducted, and gradual depletion of fossil fuels and environmental pollution issues require new renewable/eco-friendly power generation methods, such as wave power plants. In wave power generation, however, which generates electricity from the energy of waves, it is very important to understand and predict the amount of power generation and operational efficiency factors, such as breakdown, because these are closely related by wave energy with high variability. Therefore, it is necessary to derive a meaningful correlation between highly volatile data, such as wave height data and sensor data in an oscillating water column (OWC) chamber. Secondly, the methodological study, which can predict the desired information, should be conducted by learning the prediction situation with the extracted data based on the derived correlation. This study designed a workflow-based training model using a machine learning framework to predict the pressure of the OWC. In addition, the validity of the pressure prediction analysis was verified through a verification and evaluation dataset using an IoT sensor data to enable smart operation and maintenance with the digital twin of the wave generation system.
To assess the station-keeping performance of floating structures in the Arctic region, the ice load should be considered along with other environmental loads induced by waves, wind, and currents. However, present methods for performance evaluation in the time domain are not effective in terms of time and cost. An ice load generation module is proposed based on the experimental data measured at the KRISO ice model basin. The developed module was applied to a time domain simulation. Using the results of a captive model test conducted in multiple directions, the statistical characteristics of ice loads were analyzed and processed so that an ice load corresponding to an arbitrary angle of the structure could be generated. The developed module is connected to commercial dynamic analysis software (OrcaFlex) as an external force input. Station-keeping simulation in the time domain was conducted for the same floating structure used in the model test. The mooring system was modeled and included to reflect the designed operation scenario. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed ice generation module and its application to station-keeping performance evaluation. Considering the generated ice load, the designed structure can maintain a heading angle relative to ice up to 4°. Station-keeping performance is enhanced as the heading angle conforms to the drift direction. It is expected that the developed module will be used as a platform to verify station-keeping algorithms for Arctic floating structures with a dynamic positioning system.
The heat generation of the angular contact and the deep groove ball bearing is studied experimentally and numerically. The temperature variation of the inner and outer races and the temperature increase distribution are measured for the shaft rotational speeds, preloads, viscosities of the lubricant and lubrication methods. The measured temperature distributions are used as the input data of the numerical simulation to estimate the heat generation rate at the bearing. The temperatures of the inner and outer race increase more rapidly and approach faster to their steady values as the rotational speed increases. The optimal viscosity of the oil to minimize the heat generation is 8~10 cSt at 4$0^{\circ}C$ when the oil-air lubrication method is adopted. The heat generation of the bearing increases with the rotational speed and depends more on the lubrication method than on the preload variation.
