  • A new image encoding and identification scheme is proposed for security verification by using CGH(computer generated hologram), random phase mask, and correlation technique. The encrypted image, which is attached to the security product, is made by multiplying QPH(quadratic phase hologram) using SA(simulated annealing) algorithm with a random phase function. The random phase function plays a role of key when the encrypted image is decrypted. The encrypted image could be optically recovered by 2-f system and automatically verified for personal identification. Simulation results show the proposed method cand be used for the reconstruction and the recognition of the encrypted. Image.

  • Therefore the use of Hadamard transform in the image processing requires only the real number operations and results in the computational advantages. Recently, however, certain degradation aspects have been reported. In this paper we propose a WH matrixtwhich retains the main properties of Hadamard matrix. The actual improvement of the image transmission in the inner part of the picture has been demonstrated by the computer simulated image developments. The orthogonal transforms such as Hadamard transform offers a useful facility in the digital signal processing. As the size of the transmission block increases, however, the assignment of bits for each data must increase exponentially. Thus the SNR of the image tends to decline accordingly. As an attempt to increase the SNR, we propose the WH matrix whose elements are made of ${\pm}$1, ${\pm}$2, ${\pm}$3, ${\pm}$4, and the unitform is 8${\times}$8 matrix.

  • Today people obtain much information about appearances through movies. The stars' body images in movies have been created through total fashion as they play the roles of an ideal model to create actual body images. This study examined the relations between the body images in the film media in terms of appearances or total fashion and actual body images based on the simulation theory by Jean Baudrillard. It conducted a literature study by collecting and analyzing film media-related picture images from books, papers, periodicals and the Internet home and abroad. The research scope was limited to the stars who made appearances in movies and the ones who starred in movies in addition to their other lines of work. As a result, the following conclusions were drawn; the stars' body images went hyperreal between their actual body images and the ones of their roles in movies and then were simulated in fashion. To be specific, 1. the stars' actual body images went hyperreal and were simulated in fashion in the following cases; 1) the stars in the heyday of film; 2) fashionistas; and 3) pictures taken by paparazzi. 2. The body images of their roles went hyperreal in the following cases; 1) through brand participation; 2) through changed body images; and 3) through cyber body images. Their body images became hyperreal and were simulated in fashion by the input of fashion designers and the techniques of other areas. The body images in film are the object of desire to the audience. They go hyperreal and become the ideal body image to real people. The various kinds of hyperreal images in the film media create new beauty as a reference and object of comparison for people to change their body images in reality.

  • In this paper, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) clutter images are simulated based on the extensive analyses for radar backscatter characteristics of various earth surfaces, and the simulated images are compared with measured SAR images. At first, the surface parameters including soil moisture content and surface roughness parameters and other parameters for vegetation canopies are measured for various surfaces. The backscattering coefficients for the surfaces are computed using theoretical and empirical models for surface scattering and the radiative transfer for vegetation-canopy scattering. Then, the digital elevation map (DEM) and land cover map (LCM) are used for the SAR image generation. The SAR impulse response (correlation function) is also employed to simulated reliable SAR images. Finally, the appropriate speckle and texture parameters for various earth surfaces are used for generating the SAR clutter images.

  • Lipreading has been suggested as one of the methods to improve the performance of speech recognition in noisy environment. However, existing methods are developed and implemented only in software. This paper suggests a hardware design for real-time lipreading. For real-time processing and feasible implementation, we decompose the lipreading system into three parts; image acquisition module, feature vector extraction module, and recognition module. Image acquisition module capture input image by using CMOS image sensor. The feature vector extraction module extracts feature vector from the input image by using parallel block matching algorithm. The parallel block matching algorithm is coded and simulated for FPGA circuit. Recognition module uses HMM based recognition algorithm. The recognition algorithm is coded and simulated by using DSP chip. The simulation results show that a real-time lipreading system can be implemented in hardware.

  • We present the results of image simulations of 43.1 GHz SiO maser emission toward a Mira variable using the KVN (Korean VLBI Network) and other facilities which can make joint VLBI experiments with the KVN. To test the imaging capability of the KVN we used the image of SiO masers in the simulation obtained by the VLBA, which is considered to be the optimum VLBI facility at present to study SiO masers toward evolved stars. The simulated images of SiO maser emission confirm that coordinate VLBI expriments of KVN with several more stations in Japan or in the neighborhood of Korean Peninsula are necessary to exert the functional benefit of the KVN as the first mm VLBI facility which can perform simultaneous observations at four different frequency bands.

  • This paper proposes a new real-time 2-D convolver filter architecture wihtout using any multiplier. To meet the massive amount of computations for real-time image processing, several commercial 2-D convolver chips have many multipliers occupying large VLSI area. Te proposed architecture using only one shift-and-accumulator can reduce the chip size by more than 70% of commercial 2-D convolver filter chips and can meet the real-time image processing srequirement, i.e., the standard of CCIR601. In addition, the proposed chip can be used for not only 2-D image processing but also 1-D signal processing and has bood scalability for higher speed applications. We have simulated the architecture by using VHDL models and have performed logic synthesis. We used the samsung SOG cell library (KG60K) and verified completely function and timing simulations. The implemented filter chip consists of only 3,893 gates, operates at 125 MHz and can meet the real-time image processing requirement, that is, 720*480 pixels per frame and 30 frames per second (10.4 mpixels/second).

  • A computer-generated hologram(CGH) is made for three-dimensional image reconstruction of a virtual object which is a difficult to irradiate the laser light directly. One of the adverse effect factors is quantization of wave front computed by program when a computer-generated hologram is made. Amplitude element is not considered in Kinoform, it needs processing to reduce noise or false image. So several investigation was reported that the improvement of reconstructed image of Kinoform. Means to calculate the most suitable complex amplitude distribution are iterative algorithm, simulated annealing algorithm and genetic Algorithm. Error diffusion method reconstructed to separate the object as for the noise that originated in the quantization error. So it is efficient method to obtain high quality image with not many processing.

  • Using soft classification, it is possible to obtain the land cover proportions from the remotely sensed image. These land cover proportions are then used as input data for a procedure called "super-resolution mapping" to produce the predicted hard land cover layers at higher resolution than the original remotely sensed image. Superresolution mapping can be implemented using a number of algorithms in which the Hopfield Neural Network (HNN) has showed some advantages. The HNN has improved the land cover classification through superresolution mapping greatly with the high resolution data. However, the super-resolution mapping is based on the spatial dependence assumption, therefore it is predicted that the accuracy of resulted land cover classes depends on the relative size of spatial features and the spatial resolution of the remotely sensed image. This research is to evaluate the capability of HNN to implement the super-resolution mapping for SPOT image to create higher resolution land cover classes with different zoom factor.

  • High-density image sensors have microlens array to improve photosensitivity. It is conventionally fabricated by reflow process. The reflow process has some weak points. UV imprinting process can be proposed as an alternative process to integrate microlens array on photodiodes. In this study, the UV imprionting process to integrate microlens array on image sensor was developed using W transparent flexible mold and simulated image sensor substrate. The UV transparent flexible mold was fabricated by replicating master pattern using siliconacrylate photopolymer. The releasing property and shape accuacy of siliconacrylate mold was analysed. After UV imprinting process, replication quality and align accuracy was analysed.
