The utilizations of ceramics in the modern industries are increasing due to the desirable combinations of electrical, mechanical and physical properties found in ceramics. Ceramic materials are brittle, hard, strong in compression, weak in shearing and tension which is prone to affect the defects such as scratch, crack and breakage during the machining. Generally, the defects of the ceramic machining are generated from the structural vibrations of the machine. In this study, the dynamic characteristics of a machining center for ceramic machining were investigated to analyze the structural vibrations for the improved stability. Frequency response test and computer simulation have been conducted for the analysis and the design improvement. The improved design is suggested to suppress vibrations for the higher stability of the machine and further to reduce vibrations. And the result shows that simple design alterations without any change of major parts of the machine can reduce the vibration of the machine effectively.
The study was intended to investigate and explore the preimenstrual symptoms, their severity levels, their patterns and the relationships of the age to those symptoms and patterns among Korean women. The data were collected from 844 women in one highschool, one Nursing college and one Korea National Open University in Seoul, from Nov, 1997 to Jun. 1998. The instruments were the Menstrual Symptoms Questionnaire developed by Chesney and the Center for Epidemiologic studies Depression scale developed by Radloff. the data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple comparison test, $X^2$-test, simple regression analysis and logistic regression analysis using pc-SAS program. The results were as follows ; 1. Korean women had more symptoms of abdominal bloating, fatigue, abdominal discomfort and backache in perimenstrual period. There Teenages had more symptoms of depression and uterine cramps in the day before or the first day of menstruation. Women in their twenties had more symptoms of abdominal pain or abdominal discomfort, backache, abdominal bloating and the sensitiveness /discomforts in the lower back, abdomen and inner part of thighs. women in their thirties had more symptoms of abdominal bloating, fatigue, tension and nervousness before the menstruation, abdominal discomfort and backpain in the first day of menstruation. Women in their forties had more symptoms of backache, breast discomforts, abdominal pain and discomforts. 2. The severity levels of the perimenstrual symptoms showed the highest score(mean=2.73) in twenties and the lowest score)mean=1.96) in forties The perimenstrual symptom patterns were prevailed the spasmodic menstrual symptoms in teenage and twenties and the congestive menstrual symptoms in thirties and forties. The age was a determinant of perimenstrual symptom patterns and the precipitative equation was log[p(age)/(1-p(age)]=2.7356-0.0982 age. 3. The relationship of the age to perimenstrual symptoms was vanished or lessened, controlling for parity as a test factor. this finding supports the notion that parity is an extraneous variable.
Rock bolt is one of the most important supports for tunnelling to prevent excessive ground relaxation at the primary tunnel excavation stage. It forms a ground arch band by confining the ground around a tunnel. Rock bolt has various effects, such as support or hanging effect, internal pressure effect, arching effect, ground improvement effect etc. Most studies on rock bolt focused on the concept of support, but only a few researches on the ground reinforcing effect by pre-tensioning a rock bolts. In this study, large scale model tests are performed to investigate the ground reinforcing effect of rock bolts for regularly jointed rocks. Simple beam model was built to find out the reinforcing effect of jointed rocks, which was reinforced by pre-tensioned rock bolts. Settlement of model beam was analyzed through measuring its sagging for various installation intervals.

Purpose : We aimed to validate a new manual therapy to treat tension type headache(TTH) by applying myofascial release techniques to the scalp and to examine the changes in the quality of life and the headache characteristics after treatment and at the 6-month follow-up. Methods : Thirty patients were recruited in this study and were assigned to two groups through simple random sampling. Fifteen patients were assigned to the manual therapy group (MT) and 15 patients to the scalp myofascial release technique (SMT) group. However, five patients from the MT group and one from the SMT group were excluded. Therefore, 24 patients with TTH (10 males, 14 females) participated in the study. Patients underwent either MT or SMT. The procedures were performed by a physical therapist twice per week for 4 weeks. The quality of life [using the brief pain inventory (BPI) and the headache impact test (HIT)], and the frequency, duration, and intensity of the headache [on a visual analog scale (VAS)] were assessed before and after the treatment, and at the follow-up. Results : After 4 weeks of SMT, the frequency (p<.001), duration (p<.05), and intensity (p<.001) of the headache and the quality of life (HIT; p <.001, BPI; p<.001) significantly improved in the patients with TTH. The improvement in these parameters remained significant even after 6 months of follow-up. Similarly, After 4 weeks of MT, the frequency (p<.05), duration (p<.05), and intensity (p<.01) of the headache, and the quality of life (HIT; p<.05, BPI; p<.001) significantly improved in the patients with TTH. The improvement in these parameters remained significant even after 6 months of follow-up. There was no significant difference in these parameters between the two groups. Conclusion : It has been suggested that MT using the SMT can be used as a non-invasive treatment to treat the frequency, duration, and intensity of the TTH, and to improve the quality of life.

The diaphragm used for CFT columns has a small amount of steel to be used, but has a disadvantage that welding is difficult and openings are required because the steel tube and four sides must be welded. The improved diaphragm to be examined in this study was cut into four corners by cutting the center hole for concrete filling. In the improved diaphragm, the width of the center hole is the same as that of the previous diaphragm, but the width of the diaphragm contacting the steel tube is reduced, thereby reducing the welding length by about 70% compared to the previous diaphragm. The in-plane strain of each specimen was analyzed when the same load was applied to the interior diaphragm through a simple tensile test. Using the general FEM program(ANSYS 19.2), the analysis was performed under the same conditions as the actual simple tensile test, and the load transfer between the improved diaphragm and the previous diaphragm was compared. When the width of the diaphragm is equal to or smaller than the flange width, stress is concentrated from the end of the diaphragm, and when the flange width is larger, stress is concentrated at the center.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of semi-igid behavior of the steel tubular column to H-beam connection reinforced with exterior square-plate diaphragms and to check the main parameters that affect this behavior. Steel tube connections without interior diaphragm and/or complicated exterior diaphragm show the considerable flexibility due to out of-plane deformation of tube flange. For the exact analysis well-reflected the effect of this flexibility on the overall frame performance. it need to find out the moment-rotation curve function that well trace the result of experiment in the whole region and the function should be simply transformed into an adequate form for the nonlinear analysis program. After collecting several test data same to the connection type considered. we carried out FEM analysis using ANSYS for the assumed beam-to-column connection developed from the simple tension test and the results are compared with experimental values. Based on the parametric study. we proposed the moment-relation curve function and performed the multiple-regression analysis procedure for three parameters consisting of this function with the main geometric parameter of this connection type.
Models to predict the ultimate strength of simply supported or continuous deep beams with web openings are proposed. The derived equations are based on upper-bound theorem. The concrete is assumed as a perfectly plastic material obeying the modified Coulomb failure criteria with zero tension cutoff. Reinforcing bar is considered as elastic-perfectly plastic material and its stress is calculated from the limiting principal compressive strain of concrete. The governing failure mechanisms based on test results are idealized as rigid moving blocks separated by a hyperbolic yield line. The effective compressive strength of concrete is calculated from the formula proposed by Vecchio and Collins. Comparisons with existing test results are performed, and they show good agreement.
The concrete-filled tube column has the excellent structural performance. But it is difficult to connect with column and beam because of closed section. It suggests that pipe should be produced by welding two sides together where two shapes are joined after a channel is pre-welded onto the three sides in order to form an internal diaphragm. The upper diaphragm of the connection used the horizontal plate and the lower diaphragm used the Vertical plate. This research performed 6 monotonic tension experiments describing the connection upside and downside in order to evaluate the structural capability of the offered connection. And the cyclic loading experiment was performed about 2 T-Type column to beam connections. As to the experimental result edge cutting geometry, there was no big effect. An increase in the number of holes of the plate ultimate strength was increased by 5% and The thickness of the plate increases, the maximum strength was increased by 4%. T-Type connections until it reaches the plastic moment showed a stable behavior.
Multilayer(clad) sheets, composed of two or more materials with different properties, are fabricated using the roll-bonding process. A good formability is an essential property for a multilayered sheet in order to manufacture parts by plastic deformation. In this study, the influences of temperature and strain rate on the plastic properties of stainless steel-aluminum-magnesium multilayered(STS-Al-Mg) sheets were investigated. Tensile tests were performed at various temperatures and strain rates on the multilayered sheet and on each separate layer. Fracture of the multilayered sheet was observed to be temperature-dependent. At the base temperature of $200^{\circ}C$, all materials fractured simultaneously. At lower temperatures, the Mg alloy sheet fractured earlier than the other materials. Conversely, the other materials fractured earlier than the Mg alloy sheet at higher temperatures. The uniform and total elongations of the multilayered sheet were observed to be higher than that of each material at a temperature of $250^{\circ}C$. Larger uniform elongations were obtained for higher strain rates at constant temperature. The same trend was observed for the Mg alloy sheet, which exhibited the lowest elongation among the three materials. The tensile strengths and elongations of the single layer sheets were compared to those of the multilayer material. The strength of the multilayered sheet was successfully calculated by the rule of mixture from the values of each single layer. However, no simple correlation between the elongation of each layer and that of the multilayer was obtained.

Various types of reinforcement splicing methods have been developed and implemented in reinforced concrete construction projects for achieving the continuity of reinforcements. Due to the complicated reinforcement arrangements and the difficulties in securing bar spacing, the traditional lap splicing method, which has been widely used in reinforced concrete constructions, often shows low constructability and difficulties in quality control. Also, lap spliced regions are likely to be over-reinforced, which may not be desirable in seismic design. On the other hand, mechanical splicing methods can offer simple and clear arrangements of reinforcement. In order to utilize the couplers for the ribbed-deformed bars, however, additional screw processing at the ends of reinforcing bars is typically required, which often lead to performance degradations of reinforced concrete members due to the lack of workmanship in screw processing or in adjusting the length of reinforcing bars. On the contrary, the use of screw-ribbed reinforcements can easily solve these issues on the mechanical splicing methods, because it does not require the screw process on the bar. In this study, the mechanical coupler suitable for the screw-ribbed reinforcements has been developed, in which any gap between the reinforcements and sleeve device can be removed by grouting high-flow inorganic mortar. This study presents the uniaxial tension tests on the screw-ribbed reinforcement with the mechanical sleeve devices and the cyclic loading tests on RC columns with the developed coupler. The test results show that the mechanical sleeve connection developed in this study has an excellent splicing performance, and that it is applicable to reinforced concrete columns with a proper confinement by hoop reinforcement.
