Mechanical parts are often grouped into part families based on the similarity of their shapes, to support efficient manufacturing process planning and design modification. The 2-part sequence papers present similarity assessment techniques to support part family classification for machined parts. These exploit the multiple feature decompositions obtained by the feature recognition method using convex decomposition. Convex decomposition provides a hierarchical volumetric representation of a part, organized in an outside-in hierarchy. It provides local accessibility directions, which supports abstract and qualitative similarity assessment. It is converted to a Form Feature Decomposition (FFD), which represents a part using form features intrinsic to the shape of the part. This supports abstract and qualitative similarity assessment using positive feature volumes.. FFD is converted to Negative Feature Decomposition (NFD), which represents a part as a base component and negative machining features. This supports a detailed, quantitative similarity assessment technique that measures the similarity between machined parts and associated machining processes implied by two parts' NFDs. Features of the NFD are organized into branch groups to capture the NFD hierarchy and feature interrelations. Branch groups of two parts' NFDs are matched to obtain pairs, and then features within each pair of branch groups are compared, exploiting feature type, size, machining direction, and other information relevant to machining processes. This paper, the second one of the two companion papers, describes the similarity assessment method using NFD.

Recent studies have shown that the neural network-based binary code similarity detection technology performs well in vulnerability mining, plagiarism detection, and malicious code analysis. However, existing cross-architecture methods still suffer from insufficient feature characterization and low discrimination accuracy. To address these issues, this paper proposes a cross-architecture binary function similarity detection method based on composite feature model (SDCFM). Firstly, the binary function is converted into vector representation according to the proposed composite feature model, which is composed of instruction statistical features, control flow graph structural features, and application program interface calling behavioral features. Then, the composite features are embedded by the proposed hierarchical embedding network based on a graph neural network. In which, the block-level features and the function-level features are processed separately and finally fused into the embedding. In addition, to make the trained model more accurate and stable, our method utilizes the embeddings of predecessor nodes to modify the node embedding in the iterative updating process of the graph neural network. To assess the effectiveness of composite feature model, we contrast SDCFM with the state of art method on benchmark datasets. The experimental results show that SDCFM has good performance both on the area under the curve in the binary function similarity detection task and the vulnerable candidate function ranking in vulnerability search task.
A variety of different metrics has been introduced to measure the similarity of two given sequences. These widely used metrics are ranging from spell correctors and categorizers to new sequence mining applications. Different metrics consider different aspects of sequences, but the essence of any sequence is extracted from the ordering of its elements. In this paper, we propose a novel sequence similarity measure that is based on all ordered pairs of one sequence and where a Hasse diagram is built in the other sequence. In contrast with existing approaches, the idea behind the proposed sequence similarity metric is to extract all ordering features to capture sequence properties. We designed a clustering problem to evaluate our sequence similarity metric. Experimental results showed the superiority of our proposed sequence similarity metric in maximizing the purity of clustering compared to metrics such as d2, Smith-Waterman, Levenshtein, and Needleman-Wunsch. The limitation of those methods originates from some neglected sequence features, which are considered in our proposed sequence similarity metric.
Image classification needs the spectral similarity comparison between spectral features of each pixel and the representative spectral features of each class. The spectral similarity is obtained by computing the spectral feature vector distance between the pixel and the class. Each spectral feature contributes differently in the image classification depending on the class separability of the spectral feature, which is computed using a suitable vector distance measure such as the Bhattacharyya distance. We propose a method to determine the weight value of each spectral feature in the computation of feature vector distance for the similarity measurement. The weight value is determined by the ratio between each feature separability value to the total separability values of all the spectral features. We created ten spectral features consisting of seven bands of Landsat-8 OLI image and three indices, NDVI, NDWI and NDBI. For three experimental test sites, we obtained the overall accuracies between 95.0% and 97.5% and the kappa coefficients between 90.43% and 94.47%.
This paper presents an improved method measuring inter-utterance similarity in an example-based dialogue system, which searches the most similar utterance in a dialogue database to generate a response to a given user utterance. Unlike general inter-sentence similarity measures, the inter-utterance similarity measure for example-based dialogue system should consider not only word distribution but also various linguistic features, such as affirmation/negation, tense, modality, sentence type, which affects the natural conversation. However, previous approaches do not sufficiently reflect these features. This paper proposes a new utterance similarity measure by analyzing and reflecting various linguistic features to improve performance in accuracy. Also, by considering substitutability of the features, the proposed method can utilize limited number of examples. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves 10%p improvement in accuracy compared to the previous method.

This paper introduces a new method to solve Similarity Recognition for Cloth Products, which is based on Fuzzy logic and Particle swarm optimization algorithm. For convenience, it is called the SRCPFP method hereafter. In this paper, the SRCPFP method combines Fuzzy Logic (FL) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to solve similarity recognition for cloth products. First, it establishes three features, length, thickness, and temperature resistance, respectively, for each cloth product. Subsequently, these three features are engaged to construct a Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) which can find out the similarity between a query cloth and each sampling cloth in the cloth database D. At the same time, the FIS integrated with the PSO algorithm can effectively search for near optimal parameters of membership functions in eight fuzzy rules of the FIS for the above similarities. Finally, experimental results represent that the SRCPFP method can realize a satisfying recognition performance and outperform other well-known methods for similarity recognition under considerations here.

The turn-to-turn short is one major fault of the motor faults of BLDC motors and can appear frequently. When the fault happens, the motor can be operated without breakdown, but it is necessary to maintain the motor for continuous working. In past research, several methods have been applied to detect winding faults. The representative approaches have been focusing on current signals, which can give important information to extract features and to detect faults. In this study, current sensors were installed to measure signals for fault detection of BLDC motors. In this study, the Park's vector method was used to extract the features and to isolate the faults from the current measured by sensors. Because this method can consider the three-phase current values, it is useful to detect features from one-phase and three-phase faults. After extracting two-dimensional features, the final feature was generated by using the two-dimensional values using the distance equation. The values were used in fuzzy similarity to isolate the faults. Fuzzy similarity is an available tool to diagnose the fault without model generation and the fault was converted to the percentage value that can be considered as possibility of the fault.
As one type of power quality (PQ) disturbance sources, high-speed rail (HSR) can have major impacts on the power supply grid. Providing timely and accurate warning information for PQ problems of HSR is important for the safe and stable operation of traction power supply systems and the power supply grid. This study proposes a novel warning approach to identify PQ problems and provide warning prompts based on the monitored data of HSR. To embody the displacement and status change of monitored data, multi-features of different sliding windows are computed. To reflect the relative importance degree of these features in the overall evaluation, an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used to analyse the weights of multi-features. Finally, a multi-features similarity algorithm is applied to analyse the difference between monitored data and the reference data of HSR, and PQ warning results based on dynamic thresholds can be analysed to quantify its severity. Cases studies demonstrate that the proposed approach is effective and feasible, and it has now been applied to an actual PQ monitoring platform.

Presently, Multimedia data are increasing suddenly in broadcasting and internet fields. For retrieval of still images in multimedia database, content-based image retrieval system is implemented in this paper that user can retrieve similar objects from image database after choosing a wanted query region of object. As to extract color features from query image, we transform color to HSV with proposed method that similarity is obtained it through histogram intersection with database images after making histogram. Also, query image is transformed to gray image and induced to wavelet transformation by which spatial gray distribution and texture features are extracted using banded autocorrelogram and GLCM before having similarity values. And final similarity values is determined by adding two similarity values. In that, weight value is applied to each similarity value. We make up for defects by taking color image features but also gray image features from query image. Elevations of recall and precision are verified in experiment results.
