종관 기상 분포에 따른 PM2.5 농도의 공간적 차이에 관한 연구 (A Study on Spatial Differences in PM2.5 Concentrations According to Synoptic Meteorological Distribution)

  • To investigate the reason for the spatial difference in PM2.5 (Particulate Matter, < 2.5 ㎛) concentration despite a similar synoptic pattern, a synoptic analysis was performed. The data used for this study were the daily average PM2.5 concentration and meteorological data observed from 2016 to 2020 in Busan and Seoul metropolitan areas. Synoptic pressure patterns associated with high PM2.5 concentration episodes (greater than 35 ㎍/m3) were analyzed using K-means cluster analysis, based on the 900 hPa geopotential height of NCEP (National Centers for Environmental Prediction) FNL (Final analysis) data. The analysis identified three sub-groups related to high concentrations occurring only in Busan and Seoul metropolitan areas. Although the synoptic patterns of high PM2.5 concentration episodes that occur independently in Busan and Seoul metropolitan areas were similar, there was a difference in the intensity of pressure gradient and its direction, which tends to be an important factor determining the movement time of pollutants. The spatial difference in PM2.5 concentration in the Korean Peninsula is due to the difference and direction of the atmospheric pressure gradient that develops from southwest to northeast direction.

FCAnalyzer: A Functional Clustering Analysis Tool for Predicted Transcription Regulatory Elements and Gene Ontology Terms

  • Numerous studies have reported that genes with similar expression patterns are co-regulated. From gene expression data, we have assumed that genes having similar expression pattern would share similar transcription factor binding sites (TFBSs). These function as the binding regions for transcription factors (TFs) and thereby regulate gene expression. In this context, various analysis tools have been developed. However, they have shortcomings in the combined analysis of expression patterns and significant TFBSs and in the functional analysis of target genes of significantly overrepresented putative regulators. In this study, we present a web-based A Functional Clustering Analysis Tool for Predicted Transcription Regulatory Elements and Gene Ontology Terms (FCAnalyzer). This system integrates microarray clustering data with similar expression patterns, and TFBS data in each cluster. FCAnalyzer is designed to perform two independent clustering procedures. The first process clusters gene expression profiles using the K-means clustering method, and the second process clusters predicted TFBSs in the upstream region of previously clustered genes using the hierarchical biclustering method for simultaneous grouping of genes and samples. This system offers retrieved information for predicted TFBSs in each cluster using $Match^{TM}$ in the TRANSFAC database. We used gene ontology term analysis for functional annotation of genes in the same cluster. We also provide the user with a combinatorial TFBS analysis of TFBS pairs. The enrichment of TFBS analysis and GO term analysis is statistically by the calculation of P values based on Fisher’s exact test, hypergeometric distribution and Bonferroni correction. FCAnalyzer is a web-based, user-friendly functional clustering analysis system that facilitates the transcriptional regulatory analysis of co-expressed genes. This system presents the analyses of clustered genes, significant TFBSs, significantly enriched TFBS combinations, their target genes and TFBS-TF pairs.

공유 디스크 클러스터에서 친화도 기반 동적 트랜잭션 라우팅 (Affinity-based Dynamic Transaction Routing in a Shared Disk Cluster)

  • 공유 디스크(Shared Disks: SD) 클러스터는 온라인 트랜잭션 처리를 위해 다수 개의 컴퓨터를 연동하는 방식으로, 각 노드들은 디스크 계층에서 데이타베이스를 공유한다. SD 클러스터에서 트랜잭션 라우팅은 사용자가 요청한 트랜잭션을 실행할 노드를 결정하는 것을 의미한다. 이때, 동일한 클래스에 속하는 트랜잭션들을 가급적 동일한 노드에서 실행시킴으로써 지역 참조성을 극대화할 수 있으며, 이를 친화도 기반 라우팅이라 한다. 그러나 친화도 기반 라우팅은 트랜잭션 클래스의 부하 변화에 적절히 대처할 수 없으며, 특정 트랜잭션 클래스가 폭주할 경우 해당 노드는 과부하 상태에 빠질 수 있다는 단점을 갖는다. 본 논문에서는 친화도 기반 라우팅을 지원하면서 SD 클러스터를 구성하는 노드들의 부하를 동적으로 분산할 수 있는 동적 트랜잭션 라우팅 기법을 제안한다. 제안한 기법은 지역 버퍼에 대한 참조 지역성을 높이고 버퍼 무효화 오버헤드를 줄임으로써 시스템의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다.

Structural Parameters of Galaxies in the Virgo Cluster

  • We present structural parameters of galaxies in the Extended Viro Cluster Catalog (EVCC), new catalog of galaxies in the Viro cluster using homogeneous Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Date Release 7 (DR7) data. The EVCC covers more extended region of the Viro cluster than of the Virgo Cluster Catalog (VCC) and presents updated morphologies of galaxies using multi-band images and spectral features. We obtain the surface brightness profiles of galaxies using ellipse task in IRAF. Based on the analysis of surface brightness profile we construct a catalog of various structural parameters of galaxies, i.e. central surface brightness, effective radius, sersic index, effective surface brightness, and mean effective surface brightness. Taking advantage of these structural parameters in various parameter spaces, we refine criteria of dividing giant elliptical and dwarf elliptical galaxies. In addition, we found that bulge dominated galaxies have larger sersic index and brighter central surface brightness than disk dominated galaxies. At fixed magnitude, dwarf elliptical galaxies dwarf lenticular galaxies, and dwarf irregular low surface brightness (LSB) galaxies show larger effective radii than giant elliptical galaxies, giant lenticular galaxies, and irregular high surface brightness (HSB) galaxies, respectively. Dwarf elliptical galaxies and dwarf irregular LSB galaxies occupy the similar structural parameter spaces. We suggest that giant elliptical galaxies and dwarf elliptical galaxies may have different origin.

전북지역 주부의 라이프스타일에 따른 친환경농산물의 구매행태 및 인식에 관한 연구 (The Consumption Behavior and Perceptions of Environmentally-friendly Agricultural Products According to the Lifestyles of Housewives in the Jeonbuk Area)

  • The principal objective of this study was to evaluate the consumption behavior and perceptions of environmentally-friendly agricultural products (EAPs) according to the lifestyles of housewives in the Jeonbuk area, Korea. Self-administered questionnaires were collected from 267 housewives. Frequency analysis, chi-square, one-way ANOVA, factor analysis, and cluster analysis were used to analyze the data. Three clusters were obtained from the cluster analysis of LOHAS and wellbeing-related lifestyle: Cluster 1 "LOHAS-pursuit group", Cluster 2 "wellbeing-progress group", Cluster 3 "Utility-pursuit group". Of the housewives who were of LOHAS-pursuit group, about 50% were over 40 years old and had a professional job with a high household income. They had a high level of understanding about EAPs and purchased the highest percentage of EAPs among the groups. The housewives who were of the wellbeing-progress group, over 83% were between the ages of 30 and 40. Their consumption behaviors were very similar with that of the LOHAS-pursuit group, but the household income was lower. Of the housewives who were of the utility-pursuit group, about 63% under 30 years old. Their household income and level of understanding about EAPs were the lowest among the groups. They less interest in EAPs in comparison with other groups. For housewives' to choose EAPs properly, information and consumer education on these products, according to their lifestyles is necessary.

무선 센서 네트워크에서 에너지 효율을 위한 클러스터 멤버 노드 설정 방법 (A Method to Customize Cluster Member Nodes for Energy-Efficiency in Wireless Sensor Networks)

  • 무선 센서 네트워크는 특정 지역의 센서 정보를 센서 노드를 통해 수집하는 네트워크이다. 지역 내 센서 노드의 측정된 데이터는 데이터를 수집, 처리하여 사용자에게 전달하는 싱크 노드로 전송된다. 하지만, 센서 네트워크를 구성하는 센서 노드의 제한된 능력 때문에 센서 노드의 저전력 동작 기법이 필요하다. 센서 네트워크에서 노드들은 주위 노드가 유사한 데이터를 측정한다는 특성을 갖기 때문에 클러스터를 형성하여 클러스터 헤드로 데이터를 전송하는 클러스터링 기법이 저전력 동작 기법에 효과적으로 사용될 수 있다. 다중 흡 기반의 클러스터링 형성 기법에서 클러스터 내 멤버 노드의 개수는 균형적인 클러스터 형성에 영향을 주기 때문에, 클러스터링 기법은 클러스터를 균등하게 분할하는 방법이 필요하다. 이를 위해, 본문은 클러스터 내 적절한 멤버 노드를 설정하여, 에너지 효율적인 센서네트워크 클러스터링 방법을 제안한다.

회전형 저온 플라즈마 시스템을 이용한 분말식품의 균일한 살균 연구 (A Study of Homogeneous Sterilization of Micro-sized Food Powder by Rotatable Low-Temperature Plasma System)

  • In this study, a relatively effective process is used to sterilize Escherichia coli on the surface of micro-sized calcium citrate powder using nitrogen and argon as process gases in a low-temperature vacuum plasma treatment. The purpose of this study is to confirm and to introduce the effectiveness of homogeneous surface treatment for the sterilization of fine inorganic powder by the rotatable low-temperature RF plasma system designed by ourselves. The results of the test using 3M petrifilm showed that there were no remarkable spots in the case of the surface of plasma treated powder, whereas the untreated powder showed many blue spots, which indicating that the E. coli was alive. After 5 days, in the same samples, the blue spots were seen to be larger and darker than before, while the plasma-treated powder showed no changes. The results from FE-SEM analysis showed that the E. coli was damaged and/or destroyed by reactive species generated in the plasma space, resulting in the E. coli being sterilized. Furthermore, the sterilization effects according to the selected parameters ($N_2$ and Ar; flow rate 30 and 50 sccm) adapted in this study were mutually similar, regardless of such different process parameters, and this indicates that homogeneous treatment of powder surfaces could be more effective than conventional methods. Therefore, the plasma apparatus used in this study may be a practical method to use in a powerful sterilization process in powder-type food.

  • Today, it is widely accepted that dense environments tend to accelerate galaxy evolution. However, according to recent studies, the environments where galaxies evolve most considerably are galaxy groups rather than galaxy clusters. In an isolated group, the central host galaxy and its satellites co-evolve and interact with each other; as a result, they tend to have similar properties. Such conformity between host and satellite galaxies are relatively well known in galaxy groups, but it is hardly studied what happens after such galaxy groups merge into a galaxy cluster. Recently, J. H. Lee et al. (2014) have found that the colors of bright galaxies in WHL J085910.0+294957, a galaxy cluster at z = 0.3, show a measurable correlation with the mean colors of faint companions around them, which may be the vestige of infallen groups in the cluster. As a follow-up study, we explore more galaxy clusters, Abell 3659 and Abell 1146 at z ~ 0.1, using deep images obtained from the Magellan (Baade) 6.5-m telescope. Cluster members are selected based on the distributions of color, size and concentration along magnitude and spatial distribution. We investigate the dependence of the mean colors of faint companion galaxies on local environments and the properties of adjacent bright galaxies. After comparing the results with those in J. H. Lee et al. (2014), we discuss the origin of the relationships between bright galaxies and their faint companions based on their dependence on cluster properties.

군집분석과 요인분석 이용한 우리나라 성인의 식사패턴 비교 분석 - 2005년도 국민건강영양조사 자료 이용하여 (A Comparison of Cluster and Factor Analysis to Derive Dietary Patterns in Korean Adults Using Data from the 2005 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore dietary patterns and compare dietary patterns using cluster and factor analysis in Korean adults. This study analyzed data of 4,182 adult populations who aged 30 and more and had all of socio-demographic, anthropometric, and dietary data from 2005 Korean Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Socio-demographic data was assessed by questionnaire and dietary data from 24-hour recall method was used. For cluster analysis, the percent of energy intake from each food group was used and 4 patterns were identified: "traditional", "bread, fruit & vegetable, milk", "noodle & egg", and "meat, fish, alcohol". The "traditional" pattern group was more likely to be old, less educated, living in a rural area and had higher percentage of energy intake from carbohydrates than other pattern groups. "Meat, fish, alcohol" group was more likely to be male and higher percentage of energy intake from fat. For factor analysis, mean amount of each food group was used and also 4 patterns were identified; "traditional", "modified", "bread, fruit, milk", and "noodle, egg, mushroom". People who showed higher factor score of "traditional" pattern were more likely to be elderly, less educated, and living in a rural area and higher proportion of energy intake from carbohydrates. In conclusion, three dietary patterns defined by cluster and factor analysis separately were similar and all dietary patterns were affected by socio-demographic factors and nutrient profile.

GIS 기법을 이용한 지형적 특성에 따른 월악산 소나무 연륜생장의 이질성 규명 (Analysis of Heterogeneous Tree-Ring Growths of Pinus densiflora with Various Topographical Characteristics in Mt. Worak Using GIS)

  • 소나무 직경생장과 기후인자(월 평균기온과 총강수량)와의 관계를 지형적 특성에 따라 분석하기 위하여 월악산국립공원에서 선정한 20개의 임분에서 각각 10여 본의 임목에 대한 연륜을 측정하였다. 각 연륜계열들은 크로스데이팅 한 후, 임령과 임분동태에 따른 임목생장 추세를 제거하기 위하여 표준화함으로써 임분별 연륜연대기를 작성하였다. 연륜의 생장경향을 이용한 집락분석의 결과 20개 임분을 4개의 집락으로 분류할 수 있었다. 집락 Ⅰ 의 사면 방향은 북쪽이었으나, 다른 집락들은 대부분 남족과 남서쪽이었다. 고도는 집락Ⅰ(1개 임분), 집락Ⅱ(10개 임분), 집락Ⅲ(2개 임분)이 305∼580 m이었으나, 집락Ⅳ(7개 임분)는 다른 집락들보다 높은 450~870 m이었다 이중 집락Ⅱ는 다른 집락보다 토심이 얕은 급경사의 암석지에 위치하였다. 지형에 따른 기후인자들과 연륜생장과의 관계를 분석하기 위해 반응함수를 집락별로 실시하였다. 집락Ⅰ은 북사면의 다소 중습한 지역에 위치하여 다른 집락보다 기후인자의 영향을 많이 받지 않았다. 집락 Ⅱ는 강수가 임목생장을 제한하는 주요인으로 나타났는데, 이는 집락 Ⅱ가 낮은 고도에 위치하면서 토심이 얕은 급경사의 암석지에 위치하여 수분에 대한 임목생장의 민감도가 증가한 것이라 생각된다. 집락Ⅲ과 집락Ⅳ는 집락Ⅱ에 비하여 임목생장 개시 이전의 겨울과 이른봄의 기온이 보다 중요한 인자로 나타났다. 이런 결과는 고도 상승에 따른 기온 감소(집락Ⅳ)나 계곡부의 미소지형적 특성에 따른 온도 저하(집락Ⅲ)로 발생되는 결과라 생각된다. 이상의 결과는 GIS를 이용하여 수치화 하여 연륜과 지형이 갖는 시-공간적 정보들을 동시에 분석한 결과이다.
