The effect of glass-frit size on microstructural evolution and electrical resistance of conductive silver paste was investigated. Silver paste was prepared by mixing 70 wt% commercial silver powder with $1.6{\mu}m$, 3 wt% Bi based glass-frit and 27 wt% organic vehicle. Two different sizes of glass-frit were obtained by ball-milling of commercial glass-frit ($3{\mu}m$) for 3 and 5 days, which had an average particle size of 1.0 and $0.5{\mu}m$. The smaller glass-frit was melt at low sintered temperature and rapidly spread between the silver particles, which is induced the dense networking among silver particles and strong adhesiveness to $Al_2O_3$ substrate. The silver film with smaller glass-frit sintered at $500^{\circ}C$ showed the small pore size and low porosity resulting in low electrical resistivity of $4{\mu}{\Omega}cm$.
Background: Nanotechnology opens new applications in many fields including medicine. Among all metallic nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles (silver NPS) have proved to be the most effective against a large variety of organisms including toxic cyanobacteria. Materials and Methods: Silver NPs were biosynthesized in vivo with different alga species namely, Spirulina piatensis, Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus oh/iquus following two scenarios. First: by suspending a thoroughly washed algae biomass in 1 mM aqueous $AgN0_3$ solution. Second: by culturing them individually in culture media containing the same concentration of $AgN0_3$. Silver NPs were characterized using UV-Vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive analysis (EDX) and Fourier transform infra-red (FfIR) spectroscopy. The biosynthesized silver NPs were tested for cytotoxic activity against a cancer promoter cyanobacteruim Microcystis aeruginosa, considering effects on cell viability and chlorophyll content. Results: The surface plasmon band indicated the biosynthesis of silver NPs at ~400 nm. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that the silver NPs had a mean average size below 100 nm. Energy-dispersive analysis X-ray (EDX) spectra confirmed the presence of silver element. FfIR spectral analyses suggested that proteins and or polysaccharides may be responsible for the biosynthesis of silver NPs and (-COO-) of carboxylate ions is responsible for stabilizing them. The toxic potentialities ofthe biosynthesized silver NPs against the cancer promoter cyanobacterium, Microcystis aeruginosa showed high reduction in viable cells count and the total chlorophyll content. Conclusions: The potential activity of the biosynthesized silver NPs from the studied algae species against Microcystis aernginosa cells is expected to be mainly mediated by the release of silver ions (Ag+) from the particle surface and bioactive compounds as indicated by FfIR analysis.
We investigated the sintering and consolidation phenomena of silver nanoparticles under various thermal treatment conditions when they were patterned by a contact printing technique on polyimide substrate films. The sintering of metastable silver nanoparticles commenced at 180 $^{\circ}C$, where the point necks were formed at the contact points of the nanoparticles to reduce the overall surface area and the overall surface energy. As the temperature was increased up to 250 $^{\circ}C$, silver atoms diffused from the grain boundaries at the intersections and continued to deposit on the interior surface of the pores, thereby filling up the remaining space. When the consolidation temperature exceeded 270 $^{\circ}C$, the capillary force between the spherical silver particles and polyimide flat surface induced the permanent deformation of the polyimide films, leaving crater-shaped indentation marks. The bonding force between the patterned silver metal and polyimide substrate was greatly increased by the heat treatment temperature and the mechanical interlocking by the metal particle indentation.
Effects of continuous oil phase on silver halide nanoparticles were investigated where nanoparticles were prepared using two different types of water-in-oil(W/O) microemulsions containing silver and halide, respectively. Phase behavior experiments for ternary systems containing AOT surfactant, hydrocarbon oil and aqueous solution of an inorganic salt showed that the region of one phase W/O microemulsion was found to be broadened with an increase in the alkyl chain length of a hydrocarbon mainly due to an increase in hydrophilic nature of a surfactant. With the information of phase behavior experiments, silver halide nanoparticles were prepared using different AOT-based microemulsion systems and photomicrographs obtained by transmission electron microscopy indicated that about 10 nm size particles of relatively spherical shape were obtained. It has been found that an increase in alkyl chain length of a hydrocarbon results in a decrease in particle size because of higher intermicellar exchange rate among microemulsion drops. The average particle size was also found to increase with the inorganic salt composition of initial aqueous solution.
Endophytes ascertain a symbiotic relationship with plants as promoters of growth, defense mechanism etc. This study is a first report to screen the endophytic population in Waltheria indica, a tropical medicinal plant. 5 bacterial and 3 fungal strains in leaves, 3 bacterial and 1 yeast species in stems were differentiated morphologically and identified by biochemical and molecular methods. The phylogenetic tree of the isolated endophytes was constructed using MEGA X. Silver nanoparticles were biosynthesized from a rare endophytic bacterium Cupriavidus metallidurans isolated from the leaf of W. indica. The formation of silver nanoparticles was confirmed by UV-Visible spectrophotometer that evidenced a strong absorption band at 408.5 nm of UV-Visible range with crystalline nature and average particle size of 16.4 nm by Particle size analyzer. The Fourier Transform Infra-Red spectrum displayed the presence of various functional groups that stabilized the nanoparticles. X-ray diffraction peaks were conferred to face centered cubic structure. Transmission Electron Microscope and Scanning Electron Microscope revealed the spherical-shaped, polycrystalline nature with the presence of elemental silver analyzed by Energy Dispersive of X-Ray spectrum. Selected area electron diffraction also confirmed the orientation of AgNPs at 111, 200, 220, 311 planes similar to X-ray diffraction analysis. The synthesized nanoparticles are evaluated for antimicrobial activity against 7 bacterial and 3 fungal pathogens. A good zone of inhibition was observed against pathogenic bacteria than fungal pathogens. Thus the study could hold a key aspect in drug discovery research and other pharmacological conducts of human clinical conditions.

Synthesis of silver nanoparticles by the supersonic nozzle expansion method with corona discharge ions was investigated. Corona discharge ions functioned as seeds for heterogeneous nucleation in the silver nanoparticles formation process and provided silver nanoparticles with electronic repulsive force that prevents aggregation of the particles. For ion ejecting, we used sonic-jet corona discharger. Upon application of the corona discharge ions, the mean diameter of the produced particles was decreased from 12.54 to 6.22nm and the standard deviation was decreased from 5.02 to 3.34nm. In addition, the agglomeration of silver nanoparticles was reduced.

In this study, we used not chemical and physical synthesis method but the solution plasma sputtering method in the synthesis of silver nano-particles. Synthesis of all the silver nano-particles was conducted for 1hour in 360 ml of distilled water and characteristics of changing the input voltage and frequency of the synthesised silver nano-particles by using the solution plasma sputtering method were analyzed through FE-SEM(Field Emission-Scanning Electron Microscope). We changed the input voltage from 8 kV to 10 kV in steps of 1 kV, input frequency from 20 kHz to 30 kHz in steps of 5 kHz in the solution plasma reactor with the advanced device which can control the DC voltage and frequency. We confirmed that the size of silver nano-particles were larger according to the change of the input voltage and frequency.
The nanosized silver and gold particles are prepared by ERC method in which metal vapors with high temperature is rapidly quenched by coolants such as liquid nitrogen or liquid argon. In order to monitor the crystal structural changes on the internal and the surface of the nanosized noble metal particles, lattice parameter, internal strain and Debye-Waller factor are investigated, and the calculation of X-ray diffraction scattering intensity is performed. The lattice parameters of silver and gold particles agree with those of bulk materials, and crystal internal strain of the metal particles is not changed by rapid cooling. The Debye-Waller factor of gold particles is increased with decreasing particle size because of the surface softening phenomenon of nanosized particles, but the crystal structural change on the surface of the particles is not detected from the comparison the calculated X-ray diffraction profile with the experimental profile on gold particles with the particle size of 4 nm.
