Influence of silver nanoparticles on the photovoltaic parameters of silicon solar cells

  • Influence of Ag nanoparticles on optical and photovoltaic properties of, silicon substrates, silicon solar cells and glass have been investigated. Silver nanoparticles have been fabricated by evaporation of thin Ag layers followed by the thermal annealing. The surface plasmon resonance peak was observed in the absorbance spectrum at 470 nm of glass with deposited silver nanoparticles. It is demonstrated that deposition of silver nanoparticles on silicon substrates was accompanied with a significant decrease in reflectance at the wavelength 360-1100 nm and increase of the absorption at wavelengths close to the band gap for Si substrates. We studied influence of Ag nanoparticles on photovoltaic characteristics of silicon solar cells without and with common use antireflection coating (ARC). It is shown that silver nanoparticles deposited onto the front surface of the solar cells without ARC led to increase in the photocurrent density by 39% comparing to cells without Ag nanoparticles. Contrary to this, solar cells with Ag nanoparticles deposited on front surface with ARC discovered decrease in photocurrent density. The improved performance of investigated cells was attributed to Ag-plasmonic excitations that reduce the reflectance from the silicon surface and ultimately leads to the enhanced light absorption in the cell. This study showed possibility of application of Ag nanoparticles for the improvement of the conversion efficiency of waferbased silicon solar cells instead of usual ARC.

액상환원법을 이용하여 합성된 은 나노입자의 적외선 흡수 및 반사 특성 (Infrared Absorption and Reflection Properties of Silver Nanoparticles Synthesized by Liquid Reduction Method)

  • 액상환원법을 통하여 출발 물질인 질산은 용액으로부터 환원 용매인 DMF와 환원제 및 계면활성제 역할을 하는 PVP를 이용하여 여러 합성 조건에서 균일하면서 적당한 크기의 은 나노판상체를 합성하고자 하였다. 합성 시료 및 필름시편들의 특성들은 SEM, TEM, UV-Vis-NIR 분광법, PSA 및 XRD를 사용하여 비교 조사하였다. 질산은 용액과 DMF에 26 wt%의 PVP가 첨가된 반응물을 $70^{\circ}C$에서 72 h 동안 반응하여 합성한 시료에는 약 100~200 nm 크기의 삼각형판상체들로 존재하였고, 약 1,000 nm에서 최대 흡수 피크를 나타내므로 근적외선을 가장 잘 반사시키는 시료로 예측하였다. 필름용 코팅액에서 은 나노판상체의 함유량이 증가하거나 이의 크기가 증가되면, 필름 시편의 투과율은 떨어지고 반사율은 높아지는 경향을 나타내었다.

Preparation of Flame Retardant and Antibacterial Wood with Composite Membrane Coating

  • A novel flame retardant and antibacterial composite membrane coating for wood surfaces was prepared by adding POSS-based phosphorous nitrogen flame retardant (later referred to as NH2-POSS) and silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) to chitosan (CS). The effects of NH2-POSS content (mass fractions of CS 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 3%, 5%, and 7%) on the structure and properties of the composite membrane coating on wood were investigated. The composite film was prepared by the method of blending and ducting. Contact angle, tensile property and antibacterial effects of the composite film were measured, and infrared spectroscopy was used. The results show that the addition of NH2-POSS can not only improve the toughness of the membrane, but also the flame retardancy of the membrane, which improves the application of the membrane in wood products. However, with the addition of NH2-POSS, the transparency of the composite membrane was weakened. The inhibitory effect of the composite membrane on the growth of Escherichia coli was enhanced with the increase in Ag NPs. This research provides a foundation for the application of functional wood.

자동차 선도장 강판용 베이스코트의 유변학적 특성 및 롤코팅 동적 거동 (Rheological Properties and Roll Coating Dynamics of Basecoats for Precoated Automotive Metal Sheets)

  • 본 연구에서는 자동차 선도장 강판용 베이스코트 도료들의 유변물성 및 롤코팅 공정에서의 유동 특성을 고찰하였다. 베이스코트 3종 색상 도료들의 상온 조건에서 전단 점도와 열경화 조건에서 탄성/점성 모듈러스의 변화를 회전형 유변물성 측정기를 통해 분석하였다. 이를 통해 작용기의 배합비율과 열경화 이전의 전단 점도 특성이 경화에 의한 도료 내 가교구조 형성에 큰 영향을 주었음을 확인하였다. 또한, 3-롤코팅 공정에서 베이스코트 도료들의 코팅 특성 및 유동 불안성정을 관찰하여 코팅 운전 영역을 설정하였다. 이러한 유변학적 접근법은 비뉴튼성 도료의 친환경적 선도장강판 코팅 기술 개발 및 최적의 안정한 조건 설정을 위해 유용하게 활용될 수 있음을 보였다.

국립김해박물관(國立金海博物館) 개관(開館) 전시유물 보존처리 보고(報告) (Report on the Conservation Treatment for the Artifacts Exhibited in the newly-opened Kimhae National Museum)

  • 국립김해박물관의 개관을 위해 전시유물 200여점을 보존처리 하였다. 처리유물은 대부분 고분출토품이며 재질은 금동, 은, 구리합금제, 철제 등 금속유물이 주종을 이루고 있다. 모두 고대 가야문화를 대표하는 문화재들이다. 유물은 상태에 따라 처리방법을 달리했다. 구리합금제 유물은 부식물의 안정성에 따라 보존과 제거를 결정했다 특히 철제품의 경우 현재 안정한 상태의 유물은 물리적인 방법으로 이물질을 제거해 원형을 찾고 방녹제[상품명:Ballistol]를 이용해 부식을 예방하는데 중점을 두었다. 부식이 진행중인 유물은 원인제거를 위해 2단계 탈염처리를 했다. 제 1단계는 0.3M NaOH 용액함침, 제 2단계는 붕사-증류수 가압탈염법이다. 이밖에 전시를 위한 특수 받침대제작 및 각종 전시보조물인 모형 등에 대한 수정작업도 지원했다.

키토산-은나노 녹색합성 복합물질을 적용한 항균 기능성 포장지 연구 (A Study of Antibacterial Paper Packaging Material Coated with Chitosan-Ag Nanocomposite Prepared by Green Synthesis)

  • A novel antibacterial paper coated with chitosan-based silver (Ag) nanocomposite prepared by green synthesis has been investigated for a wide range of application in food, agricultural and medical packaging. Green synthesis of Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) was carried out by a chemical reaction involving a mixture of chitosan-silver nitrate (AgNO3) in an autoclave at 15 psi, $121^{\circ}C$, for 15-120 sec. AgNPs and their formation in chitosan were confirmed by both UV-Vis spectroscopy and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) study showed that free amino groups in chitosan act as an effective reductant and AgNPs stabilizer. Antibacterial test of coated paper with as-prepared chitosan-AgNPs was performed qualitatively against E. coli based on the formation of halo zones around coated papers and it was shown to be effective in suppressing the growth of E. coli with increasing Ag contents in coating layer.

은 나노와이어 특성에 따른 커피 링 현상에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Coffee-ring Effect of Silver Nanowire with Different Parameters)

  • A coffee-ring effect is from capillary flow by different evaporation rate across the droplet. The capillary flow tends particles to accumulate at the edges of the droplet and makes the ring-shaped stain pattern. These coffee-ring formation and suppression of coffee-ring have been a critical role in printing and coating technologies. In this study, we present the experimental study on coffee-ring effect of silver nanowire inside the evaporating sessile droplet. Size and concentration effect of nanowires at coffee-ring effect has been investigated. From the coffee-ring, we observed the regimes of connected rings and disconnected ones and measure the resistivity of single ring pattern with different nanowire length.

Effect of Additional Ag Layer on Corrosion Protection of Cu-Electrodeposited AZ31 Mg Alloy

  • This study investigated the corrosion protection by electrodeposited copper layer on AZ31 Mg alloy with and without additional silver layer by immersion test, salt spray test, OCP transient and potentiodynamic polarization experiment. The single electrodeposited Cu layer on AZ31 Mg alloy showed a nodular structure with many imperfections of crevices between the nodules, which resulted in the fast initiation of pitting corrosion within first few hours of immersion. Double-layer coating of Cu and outer Ag layer slightly increased the initiation time for pitting corrosion. Triple-layer coatings of Cu/Ag/Cu exhibited the most efficient corrosion protection of AZ31 Mg alloy, compared to the single- and double-layer coatings. Surface morphology of the outer Cu layer in the triple-layer was changed from the nodular structure to fine particle structure with no crevices due to the presence of an additional Ag layer. Thus, the improved corrosion resistance of AZ31 Mg alloy by electrodeposited Cu/Ag or Cu/Ag/Cu layers is readily ascribed to the decreased number of imperfections in the electrodeposited layers due to the additional silver layer. It is concluded that the additional silver layer provides many nucleation sites for the second Cu plating, resulting in the formation of finer and denser structure than the first Cu electrodeposit.

  • In this study, characteristics of silver ink-jet printing were investigated under various substrate treatments such as substrate heating, hydrophobic coating, and ultraviolet(UV)/ozone soaking. Fluorocarbon(FC) film was spin-coated on the polyimide (PI) film substrate to obtain a hydrophobic surface. Although hydrophobicity of the FC film could reduce the diameter of the printed droplets, the singlet images printed on the FC film surface showed irregularities in the pattern size and the position of the printed droplet along with droplet merging phenomenon. The proposed UV/ozone soaking of the FC film improved the uniformity of the pattern size and the droplet position after printing and substrate heating was very effective way in preventing droplet merging. By heating of the substrate after UV/ozone soaking of the coated FC film, silver conductive lines of 78-116 ${\mu}m$ line were successfully printed at low substrate temperatures of $40^{\circ}C$.

은 나노와이어 기반 하이브리드 이중층 압력 센서 (A Hybrid Bilayer Pressure Sensor based on Silver Nanowire)

  • We have fabricated flexible and stretchable pressure sensors using silver nanowires (AgNWs) and analyzed their electric responses. AgNWs are spray coated directly onto uncured polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) such that AgNWs penetrate into the uncured PDMS, enhancing the adhesion properties of AgNWs. However, the single-layered AgNW sensor exhibits unstable electric response and low pressure sensitivity. To tackle it, we have coated a conductive polymer, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) onto the AgNW layer. Such a hybrid bilayer sensor ensures a stable electric response because the over-coating layer of PEDOT:PSS effectively suppresses the protrusion of AgNWs from PDMS during release. To enhance the sensitivity further, we have also fabricated a stacked bilayer AgNW sensor. However, its electric response varies depending sensitively on the initial overlap pressure.
