We examined the antimicrobial effects of the cotton fabrics which were laundered at different conditions and treated with a colloidal silver solution using Staphylococcus aureus. Colloidal silver solution was made from commercial colloidal silver generator by electrolysis. The fabric which was innoculated and washed with water before drying had no more Staphylococcus aureus, but which was innoculated and dried before washing with detergent solution had lower reduction rate. The fabric washed with oxygen bleach did not have an antimicrobial effect, but rinsed with 0.07% fabric softener showed antimicrobial properties. The fabric rinsed with 0.7ppm colloidal silver solution had better antimicrobial effects. As the treating concentration of silver solution increased, the antimicrobial property of the fabric was increased. The fabric treated with 5% silver solution sustained reflectance and whiteness of untreated fabric. The colloidal silver treated fabric lost antimicrobial property after washing because nano-sized silver particles were located on uneven fiber surface without chemical bonding forces.

This study examined the difference in the mechanical properties of cotton fabrics treated with nano silver. Nano silver powder, UV-absorber, and DMDHEU are applied to cotton fabrics. The reagents added in a finishing solution were Triton X-100 and $MgCl_2$$6H_2O$. The mechanical properties of the fabrics were measured by KES-FB system. From these, the primary hand values were evaluated by the conversion equation (KN-202-DS). The results of this study are summarized as follows. The fabric tensile properties and bending properties are increased by the application of nano silver, DMDHEU, and UV-absorber mixed. The values of tensile properties in the warp direction were significantly lower than those in the weft direction. However, the values of bending properties in the warp direction were higher than those in the weft direction. The differences in the values of compression parameters by nano silver coating were unnoticeable. However, the compression energy and resilience of compression in each fabric was increased by DMDHEU treatment. The SMD values of cotton fabrics are decreased by nano silver, DMDHEU, and UV-absorber mixed treatment.

We manufactured natural dyed Korean traditional paper (Hanji) for cultural properties conservation and storage with goldthread (Coptis chinensis) and silver nitrate ($AgNO_3$). Goldthread and silver nitrate are known to be an excellent antimicrobial activity. The effect of content of goldthread and silver nitrate on properties of dyed Hanji was investigated. Color strength of dyed Hanji decreased with increasing content of silver nitrate. After-mordanting with 3% silver nitrate improved lightfastness of dyed Hanji. Tannic acid treatment increased K/S value of dyed Hanji. As the amount of the increase in goldthread content was reduced silver nitrate content. Sim-mordanting method was used for simplifying manufacture process. Silver nitrate sim-mordanting method increased K/S value of goldthread than after-mordanting method.

This article aims to summarize the recycling status of scrap gold, silver, platinum, and palladium by regions and industries in order to utilize the data for securing raw materials of the domestic urban mining industry. The amount of gold from scrap has shown a tendency to decrease in countries other than China over the last ten years, which is attributed to the increase in scrap containing gold in China. The industry demand for gold is the highest in electronic products, but it is decreasing. The amount of scrap recycling for silver has declined but total silver production has increased by increasing mine products. As production and demand from platinum and palladium scrap are mostly for catalysts, their demand could be affected by the electric vehicle industry.

The silver generation in our aging society will rapidly emergeas a new consumer group and the service industry used by silver customers will develop going forward. The beauty service sector is one of the most needed ones for the qualitative improvement of life for the silver generation. In this research, ananalysis was conducted on 244 persons of the silver generation living in Seoul, in order to examine the factors affecting the quality of the beauty service for the silver generation and their relationships with customer loyalty. For the statistical treatment of the empirical analysis, the SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 statistical programs were used. The results of the analysis showed that the service quality perceived by the silver customers who used the beauty service had significant effects on trust and flow, which are the relationship qualities, and that trust and flow had positive effects on customer loyalty. Also, it was found that, in the relationship between service quality and customer loyalty, trust had mediating effects on reliability, responsiveness, empathy, and assurance, and that flow had mediating effects on reliability, responsiveness, empathy, assurance, and tangibility. The results of this research are significant in that they present the basic data enabling the beauty industry to play an important role for the silver generation, under the present circumstances in which the beauty service industry has minimal educational programs exclusively available for the silver generation.
Content services for silver users on the ubiquitous technologies are getting attention as a new business model, monitoring users in real-time on the real-world and/or cyber-world. A lot of business and service model have been developed to apply silver or elder user. This study explained a state-of-the-art silver IT service to innovative services for users, ranging from home and finance to support for healthcare and living. Due to the variation of subtle terminologies, this study was conducted to restructure an adaptive terminology including some definitions. Current silver IT service model has been evaluated from the technical, functional, and business analyst, and its suitability has also been expressed in a proposed model and service. The purpose of this study was to propose a systematic approach of new IT service business model for silver users. A proposed model was described to explain the feasibility of the silver IT industry.

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) can be used in the areas such as integrate circuit, cell electrode and antimicrobial deodorant. In this study, AgNPs have been prepared by using $AgNO_3$ aqueous solution in the carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) hydrogel. CMC powders were dissolved in deionized water, and then irradiated by a gamma-ray with a radiation dose of 50 kGy to make CMC hydrogel. CMC hydrogels were dipped into $1.0{\times}10^{-2}M$$AgNO_3$ solution for 1 hour. After that, the swollen hydrogels were irradiated by gamma-ray for the formation of AgNPs. The characteristics of silver nanoparticles in the CMC hydrogels were monitored by UV-Vis and the morphological study and dispersed coefficient of particles were investigated by FE-SEM/EDX. It was observed that the sodium salt in the CMC is crucial to the formation of silver nanoparticle. Finally, antibacterial tests indiacted that the hydrogel containing silver nanoparticle has antibacterial activity.
As a basic study for environment-friendly production of bacterial cellulose (BC) dressing with antimicrobial activity, we isolated and identified acetic acid bacteria which are resistant to silver ions and can biosynthesize silver nanoparticles. Furthermore, conditions of BC production by selected strain were also investigated. Strain G7 isolated from decayed grape skin was able to grow in the presence of 0.1 mM $AgNO_3$ which was identified as Acetobacter intermedius based on 16S rRNA gene analysis. BC production was the highest in a medium containing 2% glucose as a carbon source, 2% yeast extract as a nitrogen source, and 0.115% acetic acid as a cosubstrate. Structural properties of BC produced in optimal medium were studied using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffractometer, and it was found that BC produced was cellulose type I that was the same as a typical native cellulose. When strain G7 was cultured in an optimal medium containing 0.1 mM $AgNO_3$, the color of the culture broth turned into reddish brown, indicating that silver nanoparticles were formed. As a result of UV-Vis spectral analysis of the culture, it was found that a unique absorption spectrum of silver nanoparticles at 425 nm was also observed. Scanning electron microscopic observations showed that silver nanoparticles were formed on the surface and pores of BC membrane.
