  • The network environment is presently becoming very increased. Accordingly, the study of traffic classification for network management is becoming difficult. Automatic signature extraction system is a hot topic in the field of traffic classification research. However, existing automatic payload signature generation systems suffer problems such as semi-automatic system, generating of disposable signatures, generating of false-positive signatures and signatures are not kept up to date. Therefore, we provide a fully automatic signature update system that automatically performs all the processes, such as traffic collection, signature generation, signature management and signature verification. The step of traffic collection automatically collects ground-truth traffic through the traffic measurement agent (TMA) and traffic management server (TMS). The step of signature management removes unnecessary signatures. The step of signature generation generates new signatures. Finally, the step of signature verification removes the false-positive signatures. The proposed system can solve the problems of existing systems. The result of this system to a campus network showed that, in the case of four applications, high recall values and low false-positive rates can be maintained.

  • This paper proposes a robust on-line signature verification system based on a new segmentation method and fusion scheme. The proposed segmentation method resolves the problem of segment-to-segment comparison where the variation between reference signature and input signature causes the errors in the location and the number of segments. In addition, the fusion scheme is adopted, which discriminates genuineness by calculating each feature vector's fuzzy membership degree yielded from the proposed segmentation method. Experimental results show that the proposed signature verification system has lower False Reject Rate(FRR) for genuine signature and False Accept Rate(FAR) for forgery signature.

  • A partitioned signature file is an enhancement of the signature file that divides all the signatures into blocks in such a way that each block contains the signatures with the same key. Its directory storesall the keys as meta information for avoiding unnecessary block accesses by examming them first before the acture searching of the blocks.. Efficient directory management is very important in large databasse environments since ist size gets larger proportionally to that of the database. In this paper, we first point out the problems in the directory management methods of the previous partitioned signature files, and then present a new one solving them. OUr method offers good features in the followint three aspects: (1) suitability for large database environments, (2) adaptability to dynamic situations, and (3) storage overhead for the directory. Moreover, we can seamlessly integrate it as a subcomponent into previously-developed general-purpose storage engines. These features show that our method is applicableto signature-based access structures for the content-based retrieval in various multimedia applications such as hypermedia systems, digital library systems, multimedia document systems, multimedia mailing systems, and so on.

  • This paper delas with the detection of freehand forgeries of signatures based on the averaged directional amplitudes of gradient vetor which are related to the overall shape of the handwritten signature and fuzzy ARTMAP neural network classifier. In the first step, signature images are extracted from the background by a process involving noise reduction and automatic thresholding. Next, twelve directional amplitudes of gradient vector for each pixel on the signature line are measure and averaged through the entire signature image. With these twelve averaged directional gradient amplitudes, the fuzzy ARTMAP neural network is trained and tested for the detection of freehand forgeries of singatures. The experimental results show that the fuzzy ARTMAP neural network cna lcassify a signature whether genuine or forged with greater than 95% overall accuracy.

  • Convertible authenticated encryption (CAE) schemes enable the signer to send a confidential message and its corresponding signature to the designated recipient. The recipient can also convert the signature into a conventional one which can be verified by anyone. Integrating the properties of self-certified public key systems, this paper presents efficient and computationally indistinguishable self-certified CAE schemes for strengthening the security of E-Commerce applications. Additionally, we also adapt the proposed schemes to elliptic curve systems for facilitating the applications of limited computing power and insufficient storage space. The proposed schemes are secure against known existential active attacks, satisfy the semantic security requirement, and have the following advantages: (i) No extra certificate is required since the tasks of authenticating the public key and verifying the signature can be simultaneously carried out within one step, which helps reducing computation efforts and communication overheads. (ii) In case of a later dispute, the recipient can convert the signature into an ordinary one for the public arbitration. (iii) The signature conversion can be solely performed by the recipient without additional computation efforts or communication overheads. (iv) The recipient of the signature can prove himself, if needed, to anyone that he is actually the designated recipient.

  • A designated verifier signature is a special type of digital signature, which convinces a designated verifier that she has signed a message in such a way that the designated verifier cannot transfer the signature to a third party. A strong designated verifier signature scheme enhances the privacy of the signer such that no one but the designated verifier can verify the signer's signatures. In this paper we present two generic frame works for constructing strong designated verifier signature schemes from any secure ring signature scheme and any deniable one-pass authenticated key exchange protocol, respectively. Compared with similar protocols, the instantiations of our construction achieve improved efficiency.
