Development of Three-Dimensional Gamma-ray Camera (방사선원 3차원 위치탐지를 위한 방사선 영상장치 개발)

  • Radiation source imaging system is essential for protecting of radiation leakage accidents and minimizing damages from the radioactive materials, and is expected to play an important role in the nuclear plant decommissioning area. In this study, the stereoscopic camera principle was applied to develop a new radiation imaging device technology that can extract the radiation three-dimensional position information. This radiation three-dimensional imaging device (K3-RIS) was designed as a compact structure consisting of a radiation sensor, a CCD camera, and a pan-tilt only. It features the acquisition of stereoscopic radiation images by position change control, high-resolution detection by continuous scan mode control, and stereoscopic image signal processing. The performance analysis test of K3-RIS was conducted for a gamma-ray source(Cs-137) in radiation calibration facility. The test result showed that a performance error with less than 3% regardless of distances of the objects.

Real Time AOA Estimation Using Analog Neural Network Model (아날로그 신경망 모델을 이용한 실시간 도래방향 추정 알고리즘의 개발)

  • It has well known that MUSIC and ESPRIT algorithms estimate angle of arrival(AOA) with high resolution by eigenvalue decomposition of the covariance matrix which were obtained from the array antennas, However, the disadvantage of MUSIC and ESPRIT is that they are computationally ineffective, and then they are difficult to implement in real time. the other problem of MUSIC and ESPRIT is to require calibrated antennas with uniform features, and are sensitive ti the manufacturing fault and other physical uncertainties. To overcome these disadvantages, several method using neural model have been study. For multiple signals, those methods require huge training data prior to AOA estimation. This paper proposes the algorithm for AOA estimation by interconnected Hopfield neural model. Computer simulations show the validity of the proposed algorithm. It follows that the proposed method yields better AOA estimates than MUSIC. Moreover, out method does not require huge training procedure and only assigns interconnected coefficients to the neural network prior to AOA estimation.

A Classification of lschemic Heart Disease using Neural Network in Magnetocardiogram (심자도에서 신경회로망을 이용한 허혈성 심장질환 분류)

  • The electrical current generated by heart creates not only electric potential but also a magnetic field. In this study, the signals obtained magnetocardiogram(MCG) using 61 channel superconducting quantum interference device(SQUID) system, and the clinical significance of various feature parameters has been developed MCG. Neural network algorithm was used to perform the classification of ischemic heart disease. The MCG signal was obtained to facilitate the extraction of parameters through a process of pre-processing. The data used to research the normal group 10 and ischemic heart disease group 10 with visible signs of stable angina patients. The available clinical indicators were extracted by characteristic point, characteristic interval parameter, and amplitude ratio parameter. The extracted parameters are determined to analysis the significance and clinical parameters were defined. It is possible to classify ischemic heart disease using the MCG feature parameters as a neural network input.

An EEG Classifier Representing Subject's Characteristics for Brain-Computer Interface (뇌-컴퓨터 인터페이스를 위한 개인의 특성을 반영하는 뇌파 분류기)

  • BCI(Brain-Computer Interface) is studied to control the machines with brain. In this study, an EEG(Electroencephalography) signal classification model is proposed. The model gets EEG pattern from each subject's brain and extracts characteristic features. The model discriminates the EEG patterns by using those extracted characteristic features of each subject. The proposed method classifies each pair of the given tasks and combines the results to give the final result. Four tasks such as rest, movement, mental-arithmetic calculation and point-fixing were used in the experiment. Over 90% of the trials, the model yielded successful results. The model exploits characteristic features of the subjects and the weight table that was produced after training. The analysis results of the model such as its high success rates and short processing time show that it can be used in a real-time brain-computer interface system.

A study on Speech Coding Method using V/S/TSIUVC Switching (V/S/TSIUVC 스위칭을 이용한 음성부호화 방식에 관한 연구)

  • In a speech coding system using excitation source of voiced and unvoiced, it would be a distortion of speech quality in a voiced and an unvoiced consonants in a frame. In this paper, I propose a new multi-pulse coding method make use of V/S/TSIUVC switching and TSIUVC approximation-synthesis method in order to restrict a distortion of speech quality. The TSIUVC is extracted by using the zero crossing rate and individual pitch pulse. And the TSIUVC extraction rate was 91% for female voice and 96.2% for male voice. The important thing is that the frequency information of 0.547kHz below and 2.813kHz above can be made with high quality synthesis waveform within TSIUVC. I evaluated the MPC of V/UV and FBD-MPC of V/S/TSIUVC. As a result, the synthesis speech of FBD-MPC was better in speech quality than the MPC.

  • This paper develops a scheme of resource management for guaranteeing QoS of realtime traffic in wireless mobile internet environments Mobile terminal has significant impact on the QoS originating mobility provided to a real-time application. The currently proposed MRSVP is not clear the boundary of resource reservation tregion and also can give rise to signal overhead to maintain sessions. To solve above problem, we propose the new reservation protocol, mobile cluster based H-MRSVP to combine MRSVP with moving cluster concept. In this paper, we analytically design our model for guaranteeing the QoS of realtime traffic and compare the three schemes: guard channel allocation schemes, DCA and our model. The performance measures are the probabilities of new call blocking, handoff dropping, resource utilization and service completion versus the system offered Erlang load. Consequently, Simulation indicate our model is more flexible than DCA in a view pint of channel utilization and gains the advantage over guard channel scheme with respects to the mobility.

Development of Estimation Method of Sensing Ability According to Smart Sensor Types (지적센서 형태에 따른 센싱능력 분석기법 개발)

  • This paper deals with sensing ability of smart sensor that has a sensing ability of distinguish materials. We have developed new signal processing method that have distinguish different materials. We made the two type of smart sensors for experiment. The first type of smart sensor is H2 type. The second type of smart sensor is HH type. The smart sensor was developed for recognition of material. And then we developed estimation method of sensing ability of smart sensors. The first method(Sensing Ability Index) is developed for H2 smart sensor. The second method($R_{SAI}$ Index) is developed for HH smart sensor. We estimated sensing ability of smart sensor with new SAI and $R_{SAI}$ method. This paper describes our primary study for a new method of estimate sensing ability of smart sensor, which is need for precision work system. This is a study of dynamic characteristics of smart sensor according to frequency and displacement changing with new SAI and $R_{SAI}$ method. Experiment and analysis are executed for proper dynamic sensing condition. First, we developed advanced smart sensors. Second, we develop new SAI and $R_{SAI}$ methods that have a sensing ability of distinguish materials. Dynamic characteristics of smart sensor are evaluated through new SAI and $R_{SAI}$ method relatively. We can use the new SAI and $R_{SAI}$ method for finding materials. Applications of this method are finding abnormal condition of object(auto-manufacturing), feeling of object(medical product), robotics, safety diagnosis of structure, etc.

Handoff Control Scheme for IP Based Hybrid Mobile Data Network (IP 기반 흔합 무선데이터망에서의 핸드오프 제어방식 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a new handoff scheme which is efficient in hybrid mobile data network consists of cellular mobile network and wireless LAN. In this scheme, handoff is delayed until connections with wireless LAN and data rates are smoothly decreased according to becon signal strength of wireless LAN. By doing so, data transfer capacity is increased and required data buffer in handoff for mobile and network system can be decreased. We analyze new handoff scheme by computer simulation. The results show that 180Mbytes data can be transferred additionally in handoff processing and required buffer size can be decreased 1/2 with the conditions that mobile speed is 1Km/hr and the data rate of a original call is 2,048Kbps.

The Effect of Growth Condition on a Soluble Expression of Anti-EGFRvIII Single-chain Antibody in Escherichia coli NiCo21(DE3)

  • Single-chain antibodies against epidermal growth factor receptor variant III (EGFRvIII) are potentially promising agents for developing antibody-based cancer treatment strategies. We described in our previous study the successful expression of an anti-EGFRvIII scFv antibody in Escherichia coli. However, we could also observe the formation of insoluble aggregates in the periplasmic space, limiting the production yield of the active product. In the present study, we investigated the mechanisms by which growth conditions could affect the expression of the soluble anti-EGFRvIII scFv antibody in small-scale E. coli NiCo21(DE3) cultures, attempting to maximize production. The secreted scFv molecules were purified using Ni-NTA magnetic beads and protein characterization was performed using SDS-PAGE and western blot analyses. We used the ImageJ software for protein quantification and determined the antigen-binding activity of the scFv antibody against the EGFRvIII protein. Our results showed that the highest percentage of soluble scFv expression could be achieved under culture conditions that combined low IPTG concentration (0.1 mM), low growth temperature (18℃), and large culture dish surface area. We found moderate-yield soluble scFv production in the culture medium after lactose-mediated induction, which was also beneficial for downstream protein processing. These findings were confirmed by conducting western blot analysis, indicating that the soluble, approximately 30-kDa scFv molecule was localized in the periplasm and the extracellular space. Moreover, the antigen-binding assay confirmed the scFv affinity against the EGFRvIII antigen. In conclusion, our study reveals that low-speed protein expression is preferable to obtain more soluble anti-EGFRvIII scFv protein in an E. coli expression system.

Simultaneous monitoring of motion ECG of two subjects using Bluetooth Piconet and baseline drift

  • Uninterrupted monitoring of multiple subjects is required for mass causality events, in hospital environment or for sports by medical technicians or physicians. Movement of subjects under monitoring requires such system to be wireless, sometimes demands multiple transmitters and a receiver as a base station and monitored parameter must not be corrupted by any noise before further diagnosis. A Bluetooth Piconet network is visualized, where each subject carries a Bluetooth transmitter module that acquires vital sign continuously and relays to Bluetooth enabled device where, further signal processing is done. In this paper, a wireless network is realized to capture ECG of two subjects performing different activities like cycling, jogging, staircase climbing at 100 Hz frequency using prototyped Bluetooth module. The paper demonstrates removal of baseline drift using Fast Fourier Transform and Inverse Fast Fourier Transform and removal of high frequency noise using moving average and S-Golay algorithm. Experimental results highlight the efficacy of the proposed work to monitor any vital sign parameters of multiple subjects simultaneously. The importance of removing baseline drift before high frequency noise removal is shown using experimental results. It is possible to use Bluetooth Piconet frame work to capture ECG simultaneously for more than two subjects. For the applications where there will be larger body movement, baseline drift removal is a major concern and hence along with wireless transmission issues, baseline drift removal before high frequency noise removal is necessary for further feature extraction.
