Optical tomography was used to measure the pattern of spray cross-section. The maximum-likelihood estimation (MLE) algorithm was used to reconstruct the spray cross-section from the measured transmission rate of the spray. A swirl-type injector was used to form an optically dense spray, and the test was carried out in a high-pressure chamber, to control the pressure condition of the test site. Before the experiment, the reliability of the MLE-based reconstruction algorithm was verified, by comparing it with a conventional filtered back projection reconstruction (FBP) method. The MLE algorithm showed superior reconstruction of the image. In the spray patternation experiment, the results of the optical tomography and optical line patternator, which uses Mie scattering signal information, were compared. While measuring the cross-section of optically dense spray, the intensity of the scattering signal had attenuated to an uncorrectable level, which led to incorrect spray pattern measurement by the optical line patternator. However, reliable results were obtained by optical tomography, under the same condition. Finally, the pattern of the optically dense spray was measured at various chamber pressures, of up to 3 MPa. As the chamber pressure increased, the hollow cone-shaped swirl spray shrank, and the attenuation coefficient value of the inner region increased.

This study introduce to the fuzzy membership filter to cancel a high frequency noise of welding current. And ART2 which has the competitive learning network classifiers the signal patterns for the filtered welding signal. A welding current possesses a specific pattern according to the existence or the size of a welding gap. These specific patterns result in different classification in comparison with an occasion for no welding gap. The patterns In each case of 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, and no welding gap are identified by the artificial neural network. These procedure is an off-line execution. In on-line execution, the identification model of neural network for the classified pattern is located on ahead of the welding plant. And when the welding current patterns pass through the neural network in the direction of feedforward. it is possible to recognize the existence or the size of a welding gap.

The global positioning system (GPS) is a useful system in civilian and military applications. However, because of the weak signal, GPS receivers are vulnerable to interference caused by unwanted signals or intentional jammers. To alleviate this issue, a controlled reception pattern antenna (CRPA) array can be employed to adaptively place radiation pattern nulls toward the direction of the signal interference. The performance of the CRPA array improves as the number of antenna elements increases. Therefore, antenna miniaturization is highly desirable for CRPA applications. We designed a compact CRPA array based on seven electrically miniaturized microstrip patch antennas (MPAs) on a 5-inch ground platform. We used a non-Foster matching circuit to match efficiently miniaturized MPAs on an FR-4 substrate. Experimental results show that the non-Foster matching circuit significantly improves such elements of antenna performance as return loss and antenna gain. In addition, we confirmed that the mutual coupling of the proposed CRPA array is less than -45 dB.
Optical-fiber electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI) is a non-contact, non-destructive examination technique with the advantages of rapid measurement, high accuracy, and full-field measurement. The optical-fiber ESPI system used in this study was compact and portable with the advantages of easy set-up and signal acquisition. By suitably configuring the optical-fiber ESPI system, producing an image signal in a charge-coupled device camera, and periodically modulating beam phases, we obtained phase information from the speckle pattern using a four-step phase shifting algorithm. Moreover, we compared the actual defect size with that of interference fringes which appeared on a screen after calculating the pixel value according to the distance between the object and the CCD camera. Conventional methods of measuring defects are time-consuming and resource-intensive because the estimated values are relative. However, our simple method could quantitatively estimate the defect length by carrying out numerical analysis for obtaining values on the X-axis in a line profile. The results showed reliable values for average error rates and a decrease in the error rate with increasing defect length or pressure.
Myocardial ischemia is a disorder of cardiac function caused by insuficient blood flow to the muscle tissue of the heart. We can diagnose myocardial ischemia by observing the change of ST-segment, but this change is temporary. Our primary purpose is to detect the temporary change of the 57-segment automatically In the signal processing, the wavelet transform decomposes the ECG(electrocardiogram) signal into high and low frequency components using wavelet function. Recomposing the high frequency bands including QRS complex, we can detect QRS complex more easily. Amplitude comparison method is adopted to detect QRS complex. Reducing the effect of noise to the minimum, we grouped ECG by 5 data and compared the amplitude of maximum value. To recognize the ECG .signal pattern, we adopted the polynomial approximation partially and statistical method. The polynomial approximation makes possible to compare some ECG signal with different frequency and sampling period. The ECG signal is divided into small parts based on QRS complex, and then, each part is approximated to the polynomials. After removing the distorted ECG by calculating the difference between the orignal ECG and the approximated ECG for polynomial, we compared the approximated ECG pattern with the database, and we detected and classified abnormality of ECG.
