MASS ESTIMATION OF IMPACTING OBJECTS AGAINST A STRUCTURE USING AN ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK WITHOUT CONSIDERATION OF BACKGROUND NOISE

  • It is critically important to identify unexpected loose parts in a nuclear reactor pressure vessel, since they may collide with and cause damage to internal structures. Mass estimation can provide key information regarding the kind as well as the location of loose parts. This study proposes a mass estimation method based on an artificial neural network (ANN), which can overcome several unresolved issues involved in other conventional methods. In the ANN model, input parameters are the discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients of the auto-power spectrum density (APSD) of the measured impact acceleration signal. The performance of the proposed method is then evaluated through application to a large-sized plate and a 1/8-scaled mockup of a reactor pressure vessel. The results are compared with those obtained using a conventional method, the frequency ratio (FR) method. It is shown that the proposed method is capable of estimating the impact mass with 30% lower relative error than the FR method, thus improving the estimation performance.

Invisible Messenger: A System to Whisper in a Person′s Ear Remotely by integrating Visual Tracking and Speaker Array

  • This paper proposes a novel computer-human interface, named invisible Messenger. It integrates face detection and tracking, and speaker array signal processing. By speaker array it is possible to form acoustic focus at the arbitrary location that is measured by the face tracking. Thus the proposed system can whisper in a person's ear as if an invisible virtual messenger were standing by the person. Not only speculative discussion, the authors have implemented a working prototype system based upon the proposed idea. This paper also describes about this prototype. In order to confirm effectiveness of the proposed idea, the authors conduct experiments using the implemented system. Experimental results demonstrate the effectivenss of the proposed idea.

계측레이더 추적 시뮬레이터 개발 (A Development of Instrumentation Radar Tracking Status Simulator)

  • Defense Systems Test Center in ADD supports increasingly various missile test requirements such as higher altitude event, multi target operation and low-altitude, high velocity target tracking. In this paper, we have proposed the development of instrumentation radar tracking status simulator based on virtual reality. This simulator can predict the tracking status and risk of failure using several modeling algorithms. It consists of target model, radar model, environment model and several algorithms includes the multipath interference effects. Simulation results show that the predict tracking status and signal are similar to the test results of the live flight test. This simulator predicts and analyze all of the status and critical parameters such as the optimal site location, servo response, optimal flight trajectory, LOS(Line of Sight). This simulator provides the mission plan with a powerful M&S tool to rehearse and analyze instrumentation tracking radar measurement plan for live flight test at DSTC(Defense Systems Test Center).

자동차 대시보드의 사출압력 최소화를 위한 게이트 위치와 공정조건의 강건설계 (Robust Design of Gate Locations and Process Parameters for Minimizing Injection Pressure of an Automotive Dashboard)

  • In this paper, multiple gate locations and process conditions under concern are automatically optimized by considering robustness to minimize the injection pressure required to mold an automotive dashboard. Computer simulation-based experiments using orthogonal arrays(OA) and a design-range reduction algorithm are consolidated into an iterative search scheme, which is then used as a tool for the optimization process. The robustness of a design is evaluated using an OA-based simulation of process fluctuations due to noise as well as the signal-to-noise ratio. The optimal design solution for the automotive dashboard shows that the robustness of the injection pressure is significantly improved when compared to the initial design. As a result, both the die clamping force and the pressure distribution in the part cavity are also much improved in terms of their robustness.

  • 무선 통신망은 음성위주의 아날로그 방식에서 출발하여, 다양한 서버스 능력을 갖는 디지럴 방식으로 진화되고 있으며 궁극적으로는 멀티미디어 서비스가 가능한 IMT -2000으로 발전할 것이다. 무선망에서 멀티미디어 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 한정된 무선 대역폭을 트래픽 특성에 따라 동적으로 활용할 수 있는 방안이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 IMT - 2000 환경에서 이동체의 이동 방향을 추정하여 이를 근거로 대역폭을 예약하고, 멀티미디어 트래픽을 전송하는 대역 할당 및 호 수락 제어 기법을 제안한다. 이 기법은 수신 신호 세기(RSS: Received Si맹a1 Strength) 이외에 이동체와 기지국간이 거리, 이동체의 이동방향, 이동체의 이전위치와 같은 부정확한 다수의 파라미터를 동시에 고려하는 퍼지 다기준(multi-criteria) 의사 결정 방법을 이용하여 이동체의 위치를 추정한다. 시뮬레이션에 의해 성능을 분석하였다.

세 개의 트랜스폰더로 이루어진 장기선 위치추적장치의 민감도 해석 (Sensitivity Analysis of Long Baseline System with Three Transponders)

  • Underwater acoustic navigation systems are classified into three systems: ultra-short baseline (USBL), short baseline (SBL), and long baseline (LBL). Because the USBL system estimates the angle of a submersible, the estimation error becomes large if the submersible is far from the USBL transducer array mounted under a support vessel. SBL and LBL systems estimate submersible's location more accurately because they have wider distribution of measuring sensors. Especially LBL systems are widely used as a navigation system for deep ocean applications. Although it is most accurate system it still has estimation errors because of noise, measurement error, refraction and multi-path of acoustic signal, or wrong information of the distributed transponders. In this paper the estimation error of the LBL system are analyzed from a point of sensitivity. It is assumed that the error exists only in the distance between a submersible and the transponders. For this purpose sensitivity of the estimated position with respect to relative distances between them is analyzed. The result says that estimation error is small if the submersible is close to transponders but not near the ocean bottom.

저압 배선 이상 진단을 위한 지능형 차단 시스템 구축 (Development Intelligent Diagnosis System for Detecting Fault of Transmission Line)

  • 본 논문에서는 저압 배선 진단 시스템 개발에서 핵심 파트 중 하나인 지능형 차단 시스템 구축을 목표로 한다. 제안된 진단 시스템은 TFDR (Time-Frequency Domain Reflectometry) 알고리즘을 바탕으로 하여 실제 전압이 흐르는 배선에 대해 이상 거리 측정을 하게 된다. 그리고 배선으로부터 얻은 정보를 바탕으로 배선 이상의 종류를 분석하는 것이 지능형 차단 시스템의 목표이다. 효율적인 분석을 위해, 본 논문에서는 퍼지-베이시안 (Fuzzy-Bayesian) 알고리즘을 바탕으로 하여 시스템을 구성하였다. 실제 저압 배선에서 실험된 데이터를 바탕으로 한 실험을 통해 제안된 기술의 우수성을 입증하고자 한다.

항만 감시를 위한 수중 강자성 표적 탐지에 관한 연구 (A Study on Detection of Underwater Ferromagnetic Target for Harbor Surveillance)

  • Many countries have been developing and operating an underwater surveillance system in order to protect their oceanic environment from infiltrating hostile marine forces which intend to lay mines, conduct reconnaissance and destroy friendly ships anchored at the harbor. One of the most efficient methods to detect unidentified submarine approaching harbor is sensing variation of magnetism of target by magnetic sensors. This measurement system has an advantage of high possibility of detection and low probability of false alarm, compared to acoustic sensors, although it has relatively decreased detection range. The contents of this paper mainly cover the analysis of possible effectiveness of magnetic sensors. First of all, environmental characteristics of surveillance area and magnetic information of simulated targets has been analyzed. Subsequently, a signal processing method of separating target from geomagnetic field and methods of estimating target location has been proposed.

AWGN 제거를 위한 변형된 평균필터 (The Modified Mean Filter to Remove AWGN)

  • 영상신호를 처리하는 과정에서 다양한 잡음에 의해 영상의 열화가 발생하고 있으며, 가우시안 잡음은 전송 등의 과정에서 영상에 의존적으로 발생한다. 이러한 가우시안 잡음을 제거하기 위한 다양한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 AWGN을 제거하기 위하여 마스크 내의 표준편차를 구하고 그 값을 임계값과 비교하여 레벨을 나누어 마스크 내의 각 화소값에 주는 가중치를 구한 후, 평균치를 출력영상의 화소값으로 하는 변형된 weighted mean filter를 제안하였다. 그리고 시뮬레이션을 통해 기존의 방법들과 그 성능을 비교하였고 판단기준으로 PSNR을 사용하였다.

An Adaptive Transversal Filter for GNSS Receiver: Implementation and Performance Evaluation

  • One-sided and two-sided ATF for GNSS receiver are deigned, implemented and evaluated in this paper. The difference f filter characteristics such as the location of zeros and the frequency response is reviewed and examined with experiments. NLMS adaptation algorithm is adopted for updating the weighting coefficients of the 12-tap FIR filter. he performance of ATF is evaluated using real signals consisting of the signals from GPS simulator and the signal generator. The output of ATF is fed into the SDR to evaluate SNR and the position accuracy. The complexity of implementation is also compared and the effects of the time delay and the phase delay are examined. The experimental results show that one-sided and two-sided ATF give similar performance against single tone CWI.
