  • In this paper, we aim to evaluate the performance of the digital signal processing (DSP) algorithm used in [8] in order to improve the resolution of spectrometers with fixed number of low-cost, non-ideal filters. In such spectrometers, the resolution is limited by the number of filters. We aim to demonstrate via new experiments that the resolution improvement by six times over the conventional limit is possible by using the DSP algorithm as claimed by [8].

  • Because the location of the pilot sub-carriers of WiBro system ca be acquired from the specification, jamming signals can easily attack them. It causes more serious error than the attack to the data sub-carriers. Therefore, for military application of the WiBro system, frequency hopping or encryption of location of pilot sub-carriers is needed.

  • When a current transformer (CT) is saturated, the wave-shape of the secondary current is distorted and contains points of inflection, which correspond to the start or end of each saturation period. Discontinuity in the first-difference function of the current arises at points of inflection, where the second and third differences convert into pulses that can be used to detect saturation. This paper describes the design and evaluation of a CT saturation detection technique using the third-difference function and includes the countermeasure for a spike signal. Test results clearly demonstrate that the algorithm successfully detects the start and end of each saturation period irrespective of the remanent flux and magnetization inductance in the saturated region. This paper concludes by describing the results of hardware implementation of the algorithm using a DSP.

  • This paper presents a Digital Signal Processor achieving high through-put for both decision intensive and computation intensive tasks. The proposed processor employees a multiplier, two ALU and load/store. Unit as operational units. Those four units are controlled and works parallel by superscalar control scheme, which is different from prior DSP architecture. The performance evaluation was done by implementing AC-3 decoding algorithm and 37.8% improvement was achieved. This study is valuable especially for the consumer electronics applications, which require very low cost.

  • This paper is a study on the application of flipped learning, which is known as a teaching method that provides effective learning, to signal processing subjects. The teaching - learning model used for the class and the implementation examples for three years are described. In-class can be judged to be a relatively successful class, but organization of the video data provided in the pre-class and evaluation of whether or not to study pre-class video have to be improved.

  • As technology advances, processor speeds are increasing at a rapid pace and digital systems require a significant amount of data bandwidth. As a result, careful consideration of signal integrity is required to ensure reliable and high-speed data processing. Crosstalk has become a vital area of research in signal integrity for electronic packages, mainly because of the high level of integration. Analytic formulas were analyzed in this study to identify the features that can predict crosstalk in multi-conductor transmission lines. Through the analysis, five variables were found and obtained a dataset consisting of 302,500, data points. The study evaluated the performance of various regression models for optimization via automatic machine learning by comparing the machine learning predictions with the analytic solution. Extra tree regression consistently outperformed other algorithms, with coefficients of determination exceeding 0.9 and root mean square logarithmic errors below 0.35. The study also notes that different algorithms produced varied predictions for the two metrics.

  • In this paper, presented is the result of a digital implementation of a FM stereo composite signal generator. The chip utilizing DDFS(Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer architecture is implemented using $1.0\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS gate-array technology thereby replacing analog componentry. To verify the process of generating composite signals a conventional logic simulation method was used. The processed chip was mounted on an evaluation PCB to test and analyze to signals. According to the measurement result obtained by using a 12-bit DAC, the digital FM composite signal generator produces a 74DB spectrally pure signal over its entire tuning range, which is superior to that of analog counterpart by 14dB in it spectral reponse. And further enhancements of the spectral response is expected to be achieved by using a high resolution digital to analog converter, such as a 16-bit DAC. The resulting signals is superior to the signal of the analoy circuitry typically used, in major characteristics such as S/N ratios, accuracy, tuning stability, and signal seperation.

  • This paper is concerned with the performance analysis of MSAGF-MMA with variable step size whose step size varies according to input power signal and decision-directed error signal. The proposed algorithm is made to change according to the input power signal which can reliably increase the convergence speed to the steady state by making the step size less affected by the fluctuation of the input signal in the MMA having the binary flag obtained from the modified Stop-and-Go algorithm. At the same time, the step size can be varied according to the decision-directed error signal so that the residual error can be reduced in the steady state. As a result of computer simulations, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm has a very good performance in the evaluation of residual ISI and averaged-MSE in steady state as well as in terms of convergence speed to steady state compared to MMA and MSAGF-MMA.

  • With the development of next IT convergence technology and the construction of infrastructure for personalized services, the importance of services based on user's sensibility status and vital signal is being spotlighted. It is the most crucial factor for the strategy of sensibility engineering to investigate student's vital signal according to the sensibility. In this paper, we proposed the vital signal monitoring simulation system by the various visual stimulus. The proposed method obtained the student's vital signal by the various visual stimulus. And the power spectrum analysis using the fast fourier transform is evaluated the activity level between the sympathetic and the parasympathetic. The analyzed result is monitoring the sensibility by displaying the heath signal light. To evaluate the sensibility between the high school's students and the university's students, we conducted SD profile and paired T-tests so as to verify usefulness. This evaluation found that the difference of sensibility activity by positive and negative stimulus was statistically meaningful. Ultimately, this paper suggests empirical application to verify the adequacy and the validity.

  • This paper proposes a loose part monitoring system (LPMS) design with a signal processing method based on fuzzy logic. Considering fuzzy characteristics of metallic impact waveform due to not only interferences from various types of noises in an operating nuclear power plant but also complex wave propagation paths within a monitored mechanical structure, the proposed LPMS design incorporates the comprehensive relation among impact signal features in the fuzzy rule bases for the purposes of alarm discrimination and impact diagnosis improvement. The impact signal features for the fuzzy rule bases include the rising time, the falling time, and the peak voltage values of the impact signal envelopes. Fuzzy inference results based on the fuzzy membership values of these impact signal features determine the confidence level data for each signal feature. The total integrated confidence level data is used for alarm discrimination and impact diagnosis purposes. Through the perpormance test of the proposed LPMS with mock-up structures and instrumentation facility, test results show that the system is effective in diagnosis of the loose part impact event(i.e., the evaluation of possible impacted area and degree of impact magnitude) as well as in suppressing false alarm generation.
