The micro-porous asymmetric PVDF hollow fiber membranes for gas-liquid contactor were prepared by the dry-jet wet phase inversion process and the characteristics of hollow fiber membranes were evaluated by the gas permeation method and scanning electron microscope. The chemical absorbent for removal of $SO_2$ gas was sodium hydroxide at bench scale hollow fiber membrane contactor. The experiments were performed in a counter-current mode of operation with gas in the shell side and liquid in the fiber lumen of the module to examine the effect of various operating variables such as concentration of absorbent, gas flow rate, L/G ratio and concentration of inlet $SO_2$ gas on the $SO_2$ removal efficiency using PVDF hollow fiber membrane contactor. Membrane mass transfer coefficient($k_m$) was calculated by mathematical modeling. The volumetric overall mass transfer coefficient increased with increasing the concentration of absorbent and L/G ratio. The increase of the absorbent concentration and L/G ratio not only provides more sufficient alkalinity but also decreases liquid phase resistance. The volumetric overall mass transfer coefficient increased with increasing gas flow rate due to decreasing the gas phase resistance.

We investigated a flexible transparent film using the spinning multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). Spin-capable MWCNTs on iron catalyzed on a SiO2 wafer was grown by chemical vapor deposition, which was performed at $780^{\circ}C$ using C2H2 and H2 gas. The average diameter and length of MWCNTs grown on the substrate were ~15 nm and $250{\sim}300{\mu}m$, respectively. The MWCNT sheets were produced by continuously pulling out from well-aligned MWCNTs on a substrate. The MWCNT sheet films were produced simply by direct coating on the flexible film or grass. The thickness of sheet film was remarkably decreased by alcohol spraying on the surface of sheet. The alcohol splay increased transmittance and decreased electrical resistance of MWCNT sheet films. Single and double sheets were produced with sheet resistance of ~699 and ${\sim}349{\Omega}/sq$, respectively, transmittance of 81~85 % and 67~72%, respectively. The MWCNT sheet films were heated through the application of direct current power. The flexible transparent heaters showed a rapid thermal response and uniform distribution of temperature. In addition, MWCNT yarns were prepared by spinning a bundle of MWCNTs from vertically super-aligned MWCNTs on a substrate, and field emission from the tip and side of the yarns was induced in a scanning electron microscope. We found that the field emission behavior from the tip of the yarn was better than the field emission from the side. The field emission turn-on voltages from the tip and side of MWCNT yarns were 1.6 and $1.7V/{\mu}m$, respectively, after the yarn was subjected to an aging process. Both the configuration of the tip end and the body of the yarn were changed remarkably during the field emission. We also performed the field emission of the sheet films. The sheet films showed the turn on voltage of ${\sim}1.45V/{\mu}m$ during the field emission.
'Eve 58-1', the subject of this study is a statue made of plaster and its structural stability was evaluated by utilizing the CAE program in order to prevent the risk of damage arising from impact and vibration that are generated during the packaging and transportation process given its material characteristics. CAE is an abbreviation for Computer Applied Engineering for realization by predicting changes at the time of application of virtual physical energy. It is applied by reflecting the physical property conditions and each boundary condition of plaster, and the digital images of the internal and external structure of the work were acquired through 3D scanning and CT analysis for interpretation by executing finite element modeling. When acceleration is applied to the work in the direction of its own weight, the left-right side and the front-rear side, it was possible to confirm a maximum displacement value of 15.24 mm in the head section of the front-rear side direction that has been tilted by approximately 27° from the Y-axis and the largest stress value of 12.46 MPa was at the left ankle section. The corresponding results confirmed that the left ankle section is the most vulnerable area and the section for which precautions need to be exercised and supplemented at the time of transporting the work by means of objective values.

PURPOSE. This study investigated the physical and mechanical changes in the titanium base of three different hybrid abutment materials after cyclic loading by estimating the post-load reverse torque value (RTV), compressive side fulcrum wear pattern of titanium base, and surface roughness. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A total of 24 dental implants were divided into three groups (n = 8 each): Group Z, LD, and P used zirconia, lithium disilicate, and polyetheretherketone, respectively, for hybrid abutment fabrication. RTV was evaluated after cyclic loading with 50 N for 1.2 × 106 chewing cycles. The compressive sides of the titanium bases were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope, and the roughness of the affected areas was measured using an optical profilometer after loading. Datasets were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis test followed by Mann-Whitney tests with the Bonferroni correction (α = .05). RESULTS. Twenty-three samples passed the test; one LD sample fractured after 770,474 cycles. Post-load RTV varied significantly depending on the hybridabutment material (P = .020). Group P had a significantly higher median of post-load RTVs than group Z (16.5 and 14.3 Ncm, respectively). Groups LD and P showed minor signs of wear, and group Z showed a more pronounced wear pattern. While evaluating compressive side affected area roughness of titanium bases, lower medians were shown in group LD (Ra 0.16 and Rq 0.22 ㎛) and group P (Ra 0.16 and Rq 0.23 ㎛) than in group Z (Ra 0.26 and Rq 0.34 ㎛); significant differences were found only among the unaffected surface and group Z. CONCLUSION. The hybrid abutment material influences the post-load RTV. Group Z had a more pronounced wear pattern on the compressive side of titanium base; however, the surface roughness was not statistically different among the hybridabutment groups.

Botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) is used for treating bilateral masseter hypertrophy since 1994. Recently there have been more clinical studies in this area, with some authors reporting that BoNT-A can reduce the size of the masseter muscle, as documented by photography, ultrasonography, computed tomography, and 3D(three dimensional) laser scan. However, earlier studies were only for bilateral masseter hypertrophy cases, not for unilateral masseter hypertrophy cases. The aim of this study was to use 3D laser scanning to evaluate changes in the external facial contour induced by unilateral BoNT-A injection. BoNT-A was injected into hypertrophic masseter muscle unilaterally in 10 patients with asymmetric masseter hypertrophy. The clinical effects of unilaterally injected BoNT-A were evaluated before the injection and 4, 8, and 12weeks after the injection using 3D laser scan. And the mean values of both sides (injection and non-injection sides) were compared with. At injection side, mean values of the volume and the bulkiest height at each time point diminished significantly between pre-injection and 4, 8, and 12weeks post-injection. At non-injection side, in contrast, mean values of the volume and the bulkiest height diminished also but less than that of injected side, and there was no statistical significance. In this limited study, we concluded that the unilaterally BoNT-A injection side showed greater mean values of the reduction of muscle volume than non-injection side at 4, 8, and 12 weeks after the injection.

The lower elementary school grades are an important period in which eating habits are formed. We examined the relationship between eating habits and school meal intake in the lower grades of an elementary school in Seoul. The eating habits were investigated using the Nutrition Quotient (NQ) for children. The school meal intake rates and preferred menus were obtained by automatically scanning the plate before and after meals using an artificial intelligence food scanner. The average school meal intake rate for the 347 subjects was 68.5±12.2%, and the nutrient intakes through the school meals were 353.5±70.0 kcal of energy, 51.8±10.2 g of carbohydrates, 14.6±3.1 g of proteins, 10.3±2.3 g of fats, 87.0±20.0 mg of calcium, and 1.8±0.4 mg of iron. The preferred menus were rice, grilled food, and dairy products, and non-preferred menus were salad, beverages, and stewed food. The eating habits that showed a positive correlation with the school meal intake rate were 'Diverse side dishes (r=0.332, P<0.001)', 'Vegetable side dishes (r=0.166, P<0.01)', 'Kimchi side dish (r=0.230, P<0.001)' and 'Less TV watching and computer game time (r=0.105, P<0.05)'. The NQ score also showed a positive correlation with the rate of school meal intake (r=0.216, P<0.001). The balance score was positively correlated with fruit (r=0.192, P<0.001), and the diversity score had the highest positive correlation with Kimchi (r=0.362, P<0.001). The regularity score was positively correlated with fried food (r=0.114, P<0.05). In conclusion, it was found that elementary school students in the lower grades had a higher school meal intake rate when their eating habits included eating side dishes evenly, and consuming vegetable side dishes and Kimchi.
In domethacin was microencapsulated with ethylcellulose using a modified spherical agglomeration process, aiming at a sustained release proparation without side effects on the stomach. The surface morphology of the microcapsules was examined using scanning electron microscopy. The microcapsules were porous and spherical, and their porosity increased with increasing the viscosity of ethylcellulose. In vitro dissolution process followed Higuchi's diffusion model for first 3 hr. Release rate of the drug from microcapsules decreased as the viscosity of ethylcellulose was decreased. The release rate also decreased with increasing the microcapsule size. The microcapsules induced less gastric ulcer in rats than raw drug.

In most of ultrasonic NDT(Non-Destructive Testing) equipments using A-scan display technic, it is one of the inconveniences that the user must be proficient in reading the displayed signals for the accurate decisions. In this study, a simple microprocessorized NDT machine for the flaw detection was developed. The operation of system is based on the conventional NDT system. The microprocessor detects the time delay between transmitted pulse and echos by counter-measure method. Then according to the scanning position, the location of flaw orthe other side of testing object is plotted on the CRT. The main advantages of the developed system are simplicity in handling, recording capability of measured data, and low cost.
Three-dimensional density distributions of an impinging and eccentric flame have been analyzed numerically and experimentally by a combined optical system with a digital speckle tomography. The flame has been ignited by premixed butane/air from air holes and impinged vertically against a plate located at the upper side of tile burner nozzle. In order to compare with experimental data, computer synthesized phantoms of impinging and eccentric flames have been made and reconstructed by a developed three-dimensional multiplicative algebraic reconstruction technique (MART). A new scanning technique has been developed for the analysis of speckle displacements to investigate wall jet regions of the impinging flame including sharp variation of the flow direction and pressure gradient. The reconstructed temperatures have been compared with a temperature photography by an infrared camera and results of numerical analysis using a finite-element method.
Imaging sonars such as side-scanning sonar or forward-looking sonar are becoming fundamental sensors in the underwater robotics field. However, using sonar images for underwater perception presents many challenges. Sonar images are usually low resolution with inherent speckled noise. To overcome the limited sensor information for underwater perception, we investigated preprocessing methods for sonar images and feature detection methods for a nonlinear scale space. In this paper, we focus on a comparative analysis of (1) preprocessing for sonar images and (2) the feature detection performance in relation to the scale space composition.
