  • A compressible multiphase flow was investigated using a DIM consisting of seven equations, including the fifth-order MLP and a modified HLLC Riemann solver to achieve a precise interface structure of liquid and gas. The numerical methods were verified by comparing the flow structures of the high-pressure water and low-pressure air in the shock tube. A 2D air-helium shock-bubble interaction at the incident shock wave condition (Mach number 1.22) was numerically solved and verified using the experimental results.

  • This paper summarizes the technical difficulties pertaining the double-compression ramp scramjet inlet model testing in a shock tunnel and their corresponding solutions. Four technical difficulties are identified: 1) test facility unstart, 2) flow disturbance and model damage due to the impact of diaphragm debris, 3) lack of fuel jet development due to multiple injection, and 4) short test time. After overcoming the identified technical difficulties, the improved results were confirmed through the results of shadowgraph images and shock tube end wall pressure.

  • A numerical investigation on nonlinear oscillations of gas in an axisymmetric resonant tube is presented. When a tube is oscillated at a resonant frequency, acoustic variables such as density, velocity, and pressure undergo very large perturbation, often described as nonlinear oscillation. In order to analyze these phenomena, axisymmetric 2-D nonlinear governing equations have been derived and solved numerically. Numerical simulations were accomplished for cylindrical, conical, and 1/2 cosine-shape tubes, which have same volume and length. For conical and 1/2 cosine-shape tubes, very large variation of pressures can be induced without shock formation except the cylindrical tube. In addition, the results well agree to those of 1-D simple model analysis.

  • Numerical simulations are conducted to investigate the feature of spontaneous ignition of hydrogen within a certain length of downstream tube released by the failure of pressure boundaries of various geometric assumption. The results show that the ignition feature can be varied with the shape of pressure boundary. The ignition at the contact region are developed at the spherical pressure boundaries due to multi-dimensional shock interactions, whereas the local ignition is developed in limited area such as boundary layer at the planar pressure boundary conditions. The spontaneous ignition inside the tube can be generated from the reaction region of only boundary layer regardless of existence of the reaction of core region.

  • As the aging ages, the disease also increases, and the development of AI technology and X-ray equipment used to treat patients' diseases is also progressing a lot. X-ray tube converts only 1% of electron energy into X-ray and 99% into thermal energy. Therefore, when the cooling time of the anode and the X-ray tube are frequently used in large hospitals, the amount of X-ray emission increases due to temperature rise, the image quality deteriorates due to the difference in X-ray dose, and the lifespan of the overheated X-ray tube may be shortened. Therefore, in this study, temperature rise and cooling time of 60kW, 75kW, and 90kW of X-ray tube anode input power were studied. In the X-ray Tube One shot 0.1s, the section where the temperature rises fastest is 0.03s from 0s, and it is judged that the temperature has risen by more than 50%. The section in which the temperature drop changes most rapidly at 20 seconds of cooling time for the X-ray tube is 0.1 seconds to 0.2 seconds, and it is judged that a high temperature drop of about 65% or more has occurred. After 20 seconds of cooling time from 0 seconds to 0.1 seconds of the X-ray tube, the temperature is expected to rise by more than 3.7% from the beginning. In particular, since 90kW can be damaged by thermal shock at high temperatures, it is necessary to increase the surface area of the anode or to require an efficient cooling system.

  • A high resolution numerical method aimed at solving cavitating flow was proposed and applied to gas-liquid two-phase shock tube problem with arbitrary void fraction. The present method with compressibility effects employs a finite-difference 4th-order Runge-Kutta method and Roe's flux difference splitting approximation with the MUSCL TVD scheme. The Jacobian matrix from the inviscid flux of constitute equation is diagonalized analytically and the speed of sound for the two-phase media is derived by eigenvalues. So that the present method is appropriate for the extension of high order upwind schemes based on the characteristic theory. By this method, a Riemann problem for Euler equations of one dimensional shock tube was computed. Numerical results of high speed flow phenomena such as detailed observations of shock and expansion wave propagations through the gas-liquid two-phase media and some data related to computational efficiency are made. Comparisons of predicted results and solutions at isothermal condition are provided and discussed.

  • There are two types of generators in the MHD generation : linear type Faraday and disk type hall generator. In this paper, it is experimented disk type hall generator. Disk type generator is driven by shock tube that compresses working gas isentropically in a very short time. As a working gas, helium gas seeded with cesium is used. it is difficult to confirm the whole condition thorough oかy experiment because the things happened in MHD generator is very complex. Furthermore we can't how exactly what happen at the inside of generator's channel because the time of generation is very short and working gas flows out very high speed. Expecially it is almost impossible to measure the things occurred in the boundary layer using MHD generation experimental equipment driven shock uk. With above reasons, to know certainly how the several values happened inside disk MHD generator charge, some graphs were drawn linearly through calculation using measured experimental data. For the more, other calculated results which can't be obtained by only experiment are considered in this paper. And these calculated results are compared to experiment data how exactly done the calculation.

  • Objective: The shock index (SI), as a trauma triage tool, is a capable clinical indicator of hemodynamic instability and hypovolemic shock, but the conception of SI is contradictory to shock. The reverse shock index (RSI) was introduced recently, but its utility has not been sufficiently proven. Methods: This study examined the RSI utility by evaluating the procedures performed at an emergency department (ED) and the associated outcomes when the RSI is used alone or in combination with the Korean Triage and Acuity Scale (KTAS). This was a retrospective study conducted by including data of 4,789 adult trauma patients for a year. The clinical variables, procedures performed on patients, and outcomes were investigated. The median RSI was 0.9 in the RSI<1 group. Results: Patients in the RSI<1 group had a higher odds of requiring procedures at the ED and for experiencing worse outcomes: intubation (odds ratio [OR], 5.4; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.3-13.1; P<0.001), chest tube insertion (OR, 6.5; 95% CI, 0.4-111.84; P<0.001), use of emergency drugs (OR, 3.6; 95% CI, 1.5-8.5; P<0.001), circulatory support (OR, 5.4; 95% CI, 2.3-12.9; P<0.001), intensive care unit admission (OR, 3.5; 95% CI, 1.8-6.8; P<0.001), and mortality during the ED stay (OR, 20.4; 95% CI, 5.5-75.7; P<0.001). In the group with KTAS 1-3, trends similar to those in the RSI<1 group were observed. Patients with RSI<1 had more severe injuries and poorer outcomes than those with $RSI{\geq}1$, regardless of whether the RSI was used alone or in combination with KTAS. Conclusion: RSI can provide an appropriate triage with concurrent KTAS use.

  • Among the many different types of wind tunnels, Ludwieg Tube(LT) is the most suitable facility for high Reynolds number testing. Depending on the location of diaphragm, there are two types of LTs. In the present study, a computational work has been carried out to compare the operation characteristics of upstream- and downstream-diaphragm LTs. Two-dimensional, axisymmetric, unsteady, compressible Navier-Stokes equations were solved using a fully implicit finite volume scheme. Based on the present results, the flow mechanism of the starting process was discussed in detail using wave diagrams and characteristics of starting time and working time were investigated.

  • In SI engine research the pressure data in cylinder is the most important fundamental ones leading to engine efficiencies and performances. It is, therefore, necessary to obtain accurate pressure data and yet it is often impossible to install a reliable data producing, flush-mounted type pressure transducer in a cylinder of small and medium size multicylinder SI engines. When flush mounting the transducer is not possible, the spark-plug type pressure transducer is commonly used as an alternative. In this case, the transmission tube of spark-plug type pressure transducer introduces distortions in the pressure signal. Efforts were made to understand the dynamic characteristics of spark-plug pressure transducer by shock tube tests and real engine experiments. In engine experiment the cylinder pressure data were simultaneously obtained by both flush mounted and spark-plug type pressure transducers of certain transmission tube geometry. Those pressure data collected by spark-plug type pressure transducer were tested for correction to flush mounted ones by the application of transfer function. As a result of the calibration the IMEP difference between F/M data and improved S/P data was shown to be corrected about 75-98% from the original ones.
