  • O-Ethyl S-methyl ethylphosphonothioate was studied for chemical and metabolic oxidation using $^{31}P-NMR$ analyses. The chemical shifts of O-ethyl ethylphosphonic acid (2) which is one of major metabolites were changed with the variation of oxidation systems. $^{31}P-NMR$ chemical shifts of 2 were observed at 40.15ppm from oxidaton by MCPBA, 30.98 ppm by MMPP, 29.31 ppm from in vitro rat liver microsomal oxidation, and 29.10 ppm from in vivo metabolism in houseflies. $^{31}P-NMR$ chemical shift of 2 in two different solvents such as deutero-chloroform and deuterium oxide were observed at 30.70 ppm and 40.15 ppm, respectively. And those of the metabolites were also observed at around 30 ppm under the conditions of pH 3, 5.6 and 14 and 47.91 ppm under pH 1 which is a strong acidic condition. It could be explained that the ionized form of 2 should have greater shielding effect on phosphorus atom and hence shows upfield chemical shift in polar solvents and alkaline conditions. On the other hand, a protonated form under organic solvents and the strong acidic condition should have less shielding effect than its ionized form, shifting the peak downfield.

  • In order to increase the therapeutic effect of radiation, there has been an increase in the use of conventional photon therapy. The intensive care unit should pay more attention to the radiation safety evaluation due to the higher energy and the larger facility compared to the existing Photon treatment. These radiation safety evaluations are mainly performed by using Monte Carlo simulation, and the first thing to be done is geometric modeling. The Heavy-ion treatment facility uses synchrotron as the accelerating device, which is difficult to precisely model geometrically and is mostly modeled briefly. This study investigated the effect of simplification and precise implementation of Dipole magnet among the components of synchrotron acceleration device on the radiation safety evaluation. The results show that the simplified geometric model is overestimated with the precisely implemented geometric model. Therefore, it is considered that the radiological safety evaluation results in more reliable results of the precise geometric modeling.

  • Sensor and optical properties have become critical features in powder foundation. The flaky barium sulfate powder shows good smooth texture, adhesion and natural looking characteristics. However, it has limitations abilities in UV shielding, hiding and blooming effect. Thus we adopt TiO$_2$ that has excellent hiding power and blooming effect as well as UV shielding ability, but TiO$_2$ has still intrinsic problems in dispersion and texture. To overcome this disadvantages, the barium sulfate/TiO$_2$/dimethicone composite powder was prepared. The flaky barium sulfate powder was coated with TiO$_2$ in nanoscale and followed by coated with dimethicone. When this surface-modified powder was applied for make-up cosmetics, especially in powder foundation, the powder gave powder foundation more good characteristics than the original flaky barium sulfate, Ti02 powder, dimethicone in abovementioned optical and sensory properties. To characterize the distinctive features of this surface-modified powder, we measured its characteristics with UV in vitro tester, hiding powder test method, goniophotometer, consumer panel test and so on.

  • To investigate the electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency (EMI SE) property based on heat treatment effects of carbon fibers in various temperatures, the polyacrilonitrle-based carbon fibers were prepared by electrospinning method and treated at 1073, 1323, 1873 and 2573 K. The surface morphology of carbon fibers was investigated by using FE-SEM and the carbon crystallization was studied by Raman spectroscopy based on effects of reaction temperatures. The electrical conductivity was obtained by measuring the surface resistance with four probe method on carbon crystallization. The permittivity, permeability and EMI SE were investigated by using S-parameter in the range of 800~4500 MHz. In case of carbon fibers treated at 2573 K, the improved carbon crystallization was confirmed by Raman spectrum and the enhanced electrical conductivity showing 54.7 S/cm was also observed. The permittivity was dramatically improved by factor of 4 based on effect of high reaction temperature. Eventually, the highly improved EMI SE value was obtained showing around 41.7 dB.

  • In this study, the concentration distribution of indoor radon in Daejeon Metropolitan City was investigated and the reduction efficiency was evaluated by applying the radon reduction methods. Based on the results of the National Institute of Environmental Research, indoor radon measurements were conducted on 24 selected houses, and the average value of District A was 261 Bq/m3, far exceeding the standard, and even in the same house, indoor radon concentration was affected by measurement point and time. In the case of eight houses that applied the soil venting method to reduce radon, the indoorradon level was significantly lowerthan the standard value, and the average reduction efficiency was also around 55%, indicating a good reduction effect. In addition, the average reduction efficiency was around 90% in the two houses that carried out the shielding method, showing the very excellent effect of the indoorradon reduction. Even if the same reduction method is applied when reducing radon, the reduction efficiency may vary depending on various factors such as the structure of the building, the frequency of ventilation, and the season, so it is necessary to accurately evaluate the effectiveness of the reduction method in the future. Based on this, it is necessary to establish indoor radon management measures in Daejeon Metropolitan City to reduce human harm caused by radon exposure.

  • Radiation side effects and complications on the ocular adnexa during electron beam therapy for orbital lymphoma can increase the incidence of posterior subcapsular cataracts. This study simulated a medical linear accelerator and a mathematical model of the eye using monte carlo simulations to evaluate the dose to the ocular adnexa and compare the shielding effectiveness on different parts of the ocular adnexa based on lens shield thickness. The dose assessment results of the ocular adnexa showed that the lens's sensitive area had the highest absorbed dose distribution when no shield was used, followed by the lens's non-sensitive area, the anterior chamber, vitreous humor, cornea, and eyelid in descending order. With the use of a shield, a 2 mm thick shield demonstrated a dose reduction effect of over 90% in the lens's sensitive area, over 83% in the non-sensitive area and anterior chamber, and a dose reduction effect of 30 to 62% in the vitreous body, cornea, and eyelid. For dose reduction in the lens's sensitive area during electron beam therapy for orbital lymphoma, it is necessary to use a shield of at least 2 mm thickness. Additionally, shielding strategies considering the thickness and area of the shield for other ocular adnexa besides the lens are required.

  • Bisumus has a low melting point, making it easier to handle. This allows us to test what type of effect diamagnetism has on electro static and magnetic field shields. However, the actual materials for experimentation have only ever been manufactured cylindrically, and so there have been no recorded cases of measurements to this effect. To understand what kind of effect pure bisumus as diamagnetism has on electro static and magnetic shields in comparison to other materials, bisumus, along with copper, aluminum and iron 스텐도, were used to make a cylinder each. These cylinders were then used to measure and compare the electro static shield and magnetic shield at different bands of frequencies, starting from a low frequency. As shown on the graph/chart/diagram, the best results were recorded for copper and bisumus as diamagnetism in an electro static field. In terms of magnetic shielding, iron provided the best results, as expected, whereas bisumus displayed minimal effect.

  • This study is to investigate the effect of interference between two C-shaped high-rise buildings by computational fluid dynamics (CFD), focusing on the variation of the local pressure coefficient (CP) and the mean pressure coefficient (CPMEAN). Sixteen building position cases are considered for the present study. These cases were based on the position and height of the interference building (IB). The pressure coefficient (CP) is calculated on the principal building (PB) and is compared with an isolated building identical in shape and size. The interference effect on PB has also been presented in reference for the interference factor (IF). According to the findings, the maximum force coefficient on the PB is 0.971 and it is 10.97% more than the isolated PB when IB is located at position 2b (two times the width of the building), and the interfering height of 13H/15 mm. The moment coefficient on PB is 1.27, which is 27.36% less than the isolated case in which IB pushed 2b to 3b in the y direction with 750 mm height. In most of the cases, because of the shielding effect of the IB, the value of force coefficient (CF) on PB has been reduced. On the face of the PB, there are also considerable differences in the mean pressure coefficient CPMEAN. When IB was positioned at a location of 2b in Y direction and an interfering height of 13H/15 mm, the maximum CPMEAN (1.58) was observed on the leeward face of PB.

  • In this paper, the conventional 2 dimensional metamaterial structure has degeneration of shielding characteristic in cross polarization effect. The proposed 3-D resonator is designed for reduction of cross polarization effect. The proposed 3-D resonator using LTCC consists of 2-D parallel resonators on X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis. The 2-D parallel resonator consists of two plate and one via. When the co-polarization electric filed is excited, the resonance frequency of 3-D resonator is 5.024GHz. The stop bandwidth is 19MHz. When the cross-polarization electric field is excited, the resonance frequency of 3-D resonator is 4.825GHz. The stop bandwidth is 19MHz. The proposed 3-D resonator achieve reduction of cross-polarization effect. The concrete consists of proposed 3-D resonator and absorbtion materials. The concrete will be applied for reduction or interference signal of ETCS(Electric Toll collection system).

  • In this study, the effect of zwitterionic surfactant on Cu electrodeposition was investigated through cyclic voltammetry. With the addition of (dodecyldimethylammonio)propanesulfonate (DDAPS) as a representative zwitterionic surfactant in the electrolyte for Cu electrodeposition, the electrochemical Cu2+ reduction was inhibited on Cu and glassy carbon electrodes. Its inhibition effect was similar to that of cationic surfactant rather than anionic surfactant. Moreover, DDAPS interacted with chloride ion and exhibited the mass transfer-dependent inhibition behavior, which indicates that its inhibition function is associated with the formation of its surface aggregates on anion-covered Cu surface. In addition, adsorbed DDAPS slightly reduced the surface roughness of Cu electrodeposits. These characteristics were similar to those of cationic surfactant, but less obvious. It means the effect of DDAPS on Cu electrodeposition originates from the cationic head group which is shield by anionic head group.
