임상 적용 차폐물질에 따른 선량 및 CT 화질 변화 분석 (Analysis of CT Image Quality Change according to Clinical Application Shielding Materials)

  • 수정체가 포함된 Brain CT 스캔 조건 중 관전압을 80, 100, 120 kVp로 변화시켜 적용하고 납, 납 고글, 황산바륨 실리콘 혼합 차폐체를 이용하여 선량의 변화를 분석하고, 차폐체가 화질에 영향을 미치는 정도를 SNR, CNR, SSIM 지수 분석방법을 적용하여 비교 분석해 보았다. 그 결과 모든 차폐물질 적용으로 선량 감소는 하였지만, 선량 감소 차는 크지 않은 것으로 분석되었다(P > 0.05). 또한 차폐물질 적용으로 화질의 변화는 납 고글 적용 시 SNR, CNR이 가장 높았고 SSIM 분석에서도 기준값 1에 가장 근접하여 구조적 유사도가 가장 우수한 것으로 측정되었다. 따라서, 본 연구결과를 기준으로 더욱 다양한 차폐체 적용과 임상실험 결과를 도출하여 적용한다면 차폐체 활용 검사 시 임상 적용기준에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

ASUSD nuclear data sensitivity and uncertainty program package: Validation on fusion and fission benchmark experiments

  • Nuclear data (ND) sensitivity and uncertainty (S/U) quantification in shielding applications is performed using deterministic and probabilistic approaches. In this paper the validation of the newly developed deterministic program package ASUSD (ADVANTG + SUSD3D) is presented. ASUSD was developed with the aim of automating the process of ND S/U while retaining the computational efficiency of the deterministic approach to ND S/U analysis. The paper includes a detailed description of each of the programs contained within ASUSD, the computational workflow and validation results. ASUSD was validated on two shielding benchmark experiments from the Shielding Integral Benchmark Archive and Database (SINBAD) - the fission relevant ASPIS Iron 88 experiment and the fusion relevant Frascati Neutron Generator (FNG) Helium Cooled Pebble Bed (HCPB) Test Blanket Module (TBM) mock-up experiment. The validation process was performed in two stages. Firstly, the Denovo discrete ordinates transport solver was validated as a standalone solver. Secondly, the ASUSD program package as a whole was validated as a ND S/U analysis tool. Both stages of the validation process yielded excellent results, with a maximum difference of 17% in final uncertainties due to ND between ASUSD and the stochastic ND S/U approach. Based on these results, ASUSD has proven to be a user friendly and computationally efficient tool for deterministic ND S/U analysis of shielding geometries.

Development and application analysis of high-energy neutron radiation shielding materials from tungsten boron polyethylene

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a high-energy neutron shielding material applied in proton therapy environment. Composite shielding material consisting of 10.00 wt% boron carbide particles (B4C), 13.64 wt% surface-modified cross-linked polyethylene (PE), and 76.36 wt% tungsten particles were fabricated by hot-pressure sintering method, where the optimal ratio of the composite is determined by the shielding effect under the neutron field generated in typical proton therapy environment. The results of Differential Scanning Calorimetry measurements (DSC) and tensile experiment show that the composite has good thermal and mechanical properties. In addition, the high energy-neutron shielding performance of the developed material was evaluated using cyclotron proton accelerator with 100 MeV proton. The simulation shows a 99.99% decrease in fast neutron injection after 44 cm shielding, and the experiment result show a 99.70% decrease. Finally, the shielding effect of replacing part of the shielding material of the proton therapy hall with the developed material was simulated, and the results showed that the total neutron injection decreased to 0.99‰ and the neutron dose reduced to 1.10‰ before the enhanced shielding. In summary, the developed material is expected to serve as a shielding enhancement material in the proton therapy environment.

The Study on Current Limiting Characteristic Analysis of Magnetic Shielding Type Fault Current Limiter

  • In this paper, we investigated the current limiting characteristic in the magnetic shielding type fault current limiter(MSFCL). The circuit analysis was executed by using finite differential method(FDM). This paper suggests that the current limiting performance can be achieved in two ways (resistive and inductive one), according to design parameter. By comparing current limiting characteristics in two ways and surveying the important parameters which determine the operational way after fault occurs in the design of MSFCL, it is shown that the magnetic shielding type fault current limiter can be operated in either resistive or inductive way.

  • In this paper, the electromagnetic shielding performance of a BiMODAL Tram is investigated by means of an electromagnetic analysis tool, called HFSS. For the purposed of doing this, first, three-dimensional finite element modeling for the tram including electronic devices and engine room is carried out. Then, for quantitatively assessing the electromagnetic shielding performance of the tram's body, concentration indexes for electric field magnitude and time-average stored electric energy are introduced. From numerical results, it is inferred that the tram's body can protect the electronic devices and engine room against external electromagnetic waves from 30 MHz to 100 MHz.

Green synthesis of Lead-Nickel-Copper nanocomposite for radiation shielding

  • For the first time Pb, Ni, and Cu nanocomposites were synthesized by versatile solution combustion synthesis using Aloevera extract as a reducing agent, to study the potential applications in X-ray/gamma, neutron, and Bremsstrahlung shielding. The synthesized Lead-Nickel-Copper (LNC) nanocomposites were characterized by PXRD, SEM, UV-VIS, and FTIR for the confirmation of successful synthesis. PXRD analysis confirmed the formation of multiphase LNC NCs and the Scherrer equation and the W-H plot gave the average crystal sizes of 19 nm and 17 nm. Surface morphology using SEM and EDX confirmed the presence of LNC NCs. Strong absorption peaks were analyzed by UV visible spectroscopy and the direct energy gap is found to be 3.083 eV. Functional groups present in the LNC NCs were analyzed by FTIR spectroscopy. X-ray/gamma radiation shielding properties were measured using NaI(Tl) detector coupled with MCA. It is found to be very close to Pb. Neutron shielding parameters were compared with traditional shielding materials and found LNC NCs are better than lead and concrete. Secondary radiation shielding known as Bremsstrahlung shielding characteristics also studied and found that LNC NCs are best in secondary radiation shielding. Hence LNC NCs find shielding applications in ionizing radiation such as X-ray/gamma and neutron radiation.

  • 본 논문에서는 HEMP의 신호 특성을 설명하고 HEMP 방호시설에 영향을 미치는 요소들을 분석한다. 실제 시설 구축에 이용하기 위한 차폐룸의 규격을 정하기 위해 필요한 요소들을 찾는다. 수신 안테나의 거리와 주파수를 변화시켜 차폐 정도를 측정한다. 기준이 되는 미국 규격문서와 측정값을 비교하고 측정방법을 간소화해본다. 차폐룸 내부를 3가지 조건으로 만들어 변화에 따른 차폐 정도를 측정한다. 정방향 측정과 역방향 측정의 차이를 살펴보고 차폐룸 측정에 영향을 미치는 요소를 찾는다.

유전체로 막힌 개구를 갖는 위성 전자 장비 함체의 차폐 효과 해석 (Analysis for shielding effectiveness of a satellite electronic equipment enclosure with a dielectric-backed aperture)

  • 본 논문에서는 위성용 전자 부품 또는 장비를 내장한 함체의 개구가 유전체로 막힌 경우 차폐효과를 계산하는 해석적 방법을 제안한다. 차폐효과는 주파수, 유전체의 유전율, 함체 내에서 차폐효과를 정의하는 위치에 영향을 받는다. 또한, 유전체 판의 일부가 도체로 막혀 있는 경우도 해석하였다. 계산 결과를 보면, 유전체에 의하여 함체 공진의 Q 값이 감소되었으며, 개구에서 멀어질수록 차폐효과 개선되는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • Screen filter of PDP TV plays an important role in satisfying the EMI/EMC specifications. Two types of filters, the mesh type and the sputter type, are used in PDP TVs, and this paper presents measurement results of the shielding effectiveness (SE) in the frequency range from 50MHz to 1GHz. Two methods were used for the measurement, one using network analyzer (NA) in an open area test site(OATS), and the other using the screen room. The overall conclusion is that the shielding effectiveness of the screen filter is related to the surface resistance of the screen filter. The mesh type screen filters are superior to the sputter types in the shielding effectiveness, which is varying with the frequency.

직류전차선로의 뇌과전압 해설 및 피뢰기와 가공지선 차폐효과 검토 (Analysis of Lightning Overvoltage and Shielding Effect of Arrester and Overhead Grounding Wire on DC Railroad)

  • This paper presents the influence of the lightning overvoltage and the shielding effect of lightning arresters and overhead grounding wires on the DC railroad systems. Modeling of railroad system is established in ATPDraw to perform the simulation and the line constants of railroad were calculated using ATP_LCC. When a direct lightning strikes to the DC railroad, the result of simulation reveals that the shielding effect of arresters is reduced at messenger, trolly-wire, and the shielding effects of overhead grounding wire is over 90% than the case which does not include it. Therefore it is evaluated that overhead grounding wires should be installed in the DC railroad line.
