Formability of Non-Vinyl Pre-coated Metal Sheet (Non-Vinyl Pre-coated Metal재의 성형성에 관한 연구)

  • This study has been performed to investigate formability of non-vinyl PCM(pre-coated metal)sheet. First, physical test of PCM sheets were tested to evaluate finish coating characteristic of PCM. And then, test equipment was made for friction test and three non-vinyl PCM sheets were tested by straight pulling method. This paper provides the results of the friction tests showing the influence of sheet surface texture and process conditions. It was found that the influence of contact pressure and speed had an effect upon the level of friction. Also using tests, the scratch resistance of a series of polyester coating has been investigated. This investigation aims to clarify the process conditions that prevent the scratch of PCM to form the good electrical appliances such as microwave oven, air conditioner and refrigerator etc.

  • Friction for sheet metal forming affects improvement of deep drawing formability. The deep drawing is affected by many process variables, such as lubricant, blank shapes, shape radius and so on. Especially, lubrication is very important formability factor. In this study, in order to investigate fraction coefficient of sheet metal forming, we examined friction test about three conditions, such as non-lubrication, full lubrication and film lubrication. We measured friction coefficient according to pin load under the conditions like deep drawing die. Mean friction coefficient for film lubrication condition would be very useful value to improve drawability.

Friction Model of Sheet Metal Forming Considering Lubricant and Surface Roughness (윤활과 표면조도를 고려한 박판 성형 마찰 모델)

  • In order to find the effect of material property and lubricant viscosity on the frictional characteristics a sheet metal friction tester was designed and tensile test, surface roughness test, and friction test were performed with several kinds of drawing oils. Test results show that as the lubricant viscosity becomes lower, the friction coefficient is higher. When surface roughness is extremely low or high, friction coefficient is also high. Using these test results, the friction model considering lubricant viscosity and surface roughness is developed. The validity and accuracy of the friction model are shown by comparing the punch loads among FEM analysis results employing current friction model and conventional friction model respectively and experimental measurement.

  • During the forming process of sheet metals, the drawbead in the die face controls a restraining force so that the sheet flows into the die cavity with tension. In order to investigate a drawgbead restraining force and a pre-strain just after drawbeads which are essential in the finite element analysis of form-ing processes, the friction test and drawing test are employed. The experiments performed with a cir-cular bead stepped bead double circular bead and circular-and-stepped bead in the various forming conditions and bead sizes show that the restraining force varies linearly with the blank holding force. bead radius blank thickness and friction but the pre-strain nonlinearly does with them.

  • The drawbead is one of the most important factors in sheet metal forming for automotive parts. So clarifying the friction characteristics between sheets and drawbead is essential to improve the formability of sheet metal. Therefore in this study, drawbead friction test was performed at various panels(cold rolled steel sheets, galvanized steel sheets, electrogalvanized coating steel sheets, electrogalvanized Zn-Fe alloy steel sheets and aluminum alloy steel sheets). Circular shape bead has been used for the test. The results show that friction and drawing characteristics were mainly influenced by the nature of zinc coating.

So clarifying the friction characteristics between sheets and drawbead is essential to improve the formability of sheet metal. Therefore in this study, drawbead friction test was performed at various bead materials(FC300, HC891, FCD550, HD700, HK600, HK700, SKD11) and surface treatment of beads(Base, induction hardening, Cr plating, ion nitriding, Toyoda diffusion process, TiCN, TiN, CrN). Circular shape bead has been used for the test. The results show that friction and drawing characteristics were mainly influenced by surface treatment.

  • The drawbead is an important part in sheet metal forming for automotive part and its effect is affected by various process parameters. Therefore in this study, drawbead friction test was performed at various process parameters - panels (cold rolled and galvanized sheet steel), lubricants (having three different viscosities), bead materials(steel, iron) and surface treatment of bead (Cr plating). Circular shape bead has been used for the test. The results show that friction and drawing characteristics were mainly influenced by the nature of zinc coating, viscosity of lubricants, surface treatment of a bead and hardness of coated layer.

  • Various parameters are involved in the frictional behavior of steel sheet during stamping. We performed various tests in order to investigate the influence of tool surface texture directionality upon the resulting friction in sheet forming processes. Four different tools were manufactured which gave us a range of roughness for both parallel and transverse texture directions. Each of the tools was examined in flat type friction tests under identical test conditions. The tool with the transverse surface texture produces significantly lower levels of friction than the tool with parallel texture direction. Considering the lubrication mechanism associated with transverse texture, one can imagine the lubricant being constantly supplied from the reservoir of the micro valley to the point of contact and hence producing the lower levels of friction seen.

  • The drawbead is one of the most important factors in sheet metal forming for automotive parts. So clarifying the friction characteristics between sheets and drawbead is essential to improve the formability of sheet metal. Therefore in this study, drawbead friction test was performed at circular shape bead and rectangular shape bead. The results show that the tendency of drawing force for rectangular bead is nearly similar with circular bead and the drawing force is nearly proportional to friction coefficient.

  • IC leadframe needs precision shape for good efficiency. Friction conditions also have a significant impact on blanking deformation. Therefore, studying the friction produced by the tribology between die and materials becomes necessary. In this study, in order to measure mechanical properties and frictions for leadframe materials such as Ni alloys and coppers, tensile test and straight pulling friction test are executed. In particular, the effect of clearance on the blanking characteristics depending on friction coefficient is examined by finite element simulation. From the finite element simulation, the metal flow, side pressure of punch and crack initiation are evaluated according to the leadframe materials.
