The purpose of this study is to evaluate of shear bond strength of light-curing composite resin to light-curing glass ionomer cement. Composite resin and glass ionomer cement have been widely used as an esthetic filling materials in dental clinics. To achieve better clinical results, sandwich technic was developed with conpensating for disadvantages of these two materials. Especially, light-curing glass ionomer cement provided greately improved bonding strength of teeth or composite resin, and then excellent clinical results can be acquired. In this study, 6 commercial light-curing glass ionomer cements(3 commercial restorative materials : Fuji II LC, Variglass VLC, Vitremer, and 3 commercial lining materials : Fuji Lining LC, Baseline VLC, Vitrebond) were devided two groups. According to manufacturer's appointment, no surface treatment was referred to N groups. Supposing. of clinical practice, surface grinding with water spray at 320 grit sand paper, 40 seconds etching with 37% phosphoric acid, 20 seconds washing, 20 seconds air drying was referred to N groups. Totally 12 experimental groups were devided, and all 120 specimens from 10 specimens of each groups were made. After light-curing composite resin was bonded to light-curing glass ionomer cement, shear bond strength was tested by Instron universal testing machine between glass ionomer cement and composit resin. The data were analyzed statistically by Student's t-test and ANOVA. The obtained results were as follows; 1. In light-curing glass ionomer cement, restorative materials showed higher shear bond strength to composite resin than lining materials(p<0.05). 2. Variglass VLC of restorative material group and Baseline VLC of lining material group have highest shear bond strength to composite resin(p<0.001). 3. In light-curing glass ionomer cement, surface grinding and acid etching reduced shear bond strength to composite resin(p<0.001)}. 4. VGN group 1s highest shear bond strength to composite resin, VBE group is lowest shear bond strength to composite resin(p<0.001).
In order to quantify the anisotropic properties of rock included joints and shear behavior in joint surface, the mold is Produced for rock joint surface using gypsum Plaster and Peformed for replicated joint models made of cement mortar. Rock sample is measured using mechanical profilometer before testing and their result is expressed quantitatively. The statistical parameters and the fractal dimension by fractal theory for roughness is investigated its coordinate value for numerical process. The shear strength to the shear displacement in low level normal stress ismaintained or increased in most joint models. Their results present that this relationship is depended several roughness properties in joint model for natural rock joint. The relationship between the shear strength and the Properties for profiles estimated by some statistical parameter in roughness has the low correlation and is not constant. The result between the data for direct shear test and using Barton's equation, Barton's equation has not the effectiveness for the effect of anisotropy and has not suitable to recognizing the properties for joint surface. It means that JRC has not the properties of anisotropic rock surface. The fractal dimension is well correlated with the data of direct shear test than those of JRC. New experimental formulae using fractal dimension is comported with the anisotropic properties for direct shear test.

Industrialization and modernization of the beginning of the IT industry is growing very fast. Since telecommunications industry was developed rapidly, technologies about miniaturization and high-precision of parts have been actively developed to lead information revolution. generally, the entire shear surface of the product applying fine blanking technology must be very precise. Fine blanking is used to save cost by avoiding post-processing of the product. When using press blanking, it spends a lot of money on the production by using many post-processing. Fine blanking typically used in 0.5~18 mm thick steel plate. Because a lot of post-processing cost can be used to process, except for fine blanking. In order to develop components "CHANCE CONTENTS" in the fine blanking process, the purpose of this study is to minimize the edge of the bridge, secured 95% of the material thickness of the shear surface using the 1.6 mm thickness of the material SPCC. Blanking process by introducing after changing thickness through forging process, due to change in vee-rring force and counter force, the experimental amount of depressions and flatness and the shear surface were analyzed.

In this study, the adhesion properties between aluminum and composite materials, composite materials, and composite materials were compared according to the physical surface treatment to improve mechanical bonding at the bonding surface when considering carbon fiber and glass fiber-reinforced composite materials. Bonded specimens were classified into the type of base material and the surface treatment method of the bonding surface. Sandpaper, sandblasting, and plasma were applied as physical surface treatment methods. The bonded specimen was prepared as a single lap joint test specimen. An experiment to measure the lap shear strength was conducted, and the results were compared. The experimental results confirmed that the mechanical abrasion and sandblasting treatment improved the lap shear strength approximately 4 to 5 fold compared to the general specimen without physical surface treatment. In plasma treatment, the experiment was conducted by defining the respective plasma output and treatment time as follows: 150 W and 5 minutes, 150 W and 10 minutes, and 300 W and 3 minutes. Moreover, the lap shear strength results were similar to the previous mechanical surface treatments. On the other hand, the effect on the adhesion properties was small, depending on the plasma treatment conditions.

The surface tension, which is generated in the unsaturated soils, increases the stiffness of the soils. The objective of this study is to estimate the effect of the surface tension, which varies according to the temperature, on the shear wave velocity. Nine specimens, which have the different degree of saturation (0%, 2.5%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%), are prepared by using sand-silt mixtures. Experiments are carried out in a nylon cell designed for the measurement of shear waves. A pair of bender elements, which are used for the generation and detection of shear waves, is installed as a cross-hole type. The shear waves are continuously monitored and measured as the temperature of specimens decreases from $15^{\circ}C$ to $1^{\circ}C$. The results show that shear wave velocities of the fully saturated and fully dried specimens change a little bit as the temperatures of specimens decrease. However, the shear wave velocities of the specimens with the degree of saturations of 2.5%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 60% and 80% continuously increase as temperature decreases from $15^{\circ}C$ to $1^{\circ}C$. Furthermore, a fully saturated specimen is dried at the temperature of $70^{\circ}C$ in order to observe the shear waves according to degree of saturation. The shear wave velocities measured at the temperature of $70^{\circ}C$ are generally lower than those measured at temperature of $15^{\circ}C$. This study demonstrates that the dependence of shear wave velocities on the temperature according to the degree of saturation should be taken into account in both laboratory and field tests.

Purpose: This in vitro study evaluated shear bond strengths of surface treatment porcelains with four porcelain repair systems simulating intraoral bonding of composite resin to feldspathic porcelain or pressable porcelain. Material and methods: Eighty Porcelain disks were prepared. Group A: forty disk specimens were fabricated with Feldspathic Porcelain($Omega^{(R)}900$, Vident, Menlo Park, CA, USA). Group B: forty disk specimens were fabricated with Pressable Porcelain(IPS Empress 2 ingot, Ivoclar-Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein, Germany). Each groups was divided into 4 subgroups and composite resin cylinders were bonded to specimen with one of the following four systems: Clearfil Porcelain Bond(L. Morita, Tustin, CA, USA), Ulradent Porcelain Etch. (Ultradent, Salt Lake City UT, USA), Porcelain Liner-M(Sun Medical Co., Kyoto, Japan), Cimara Kit(Voco, Germany). After surface conditioning with one of the four porcelain repair systems substrate surfaces of the specimen were examined microscopically(SEM). Shear bond strengths of specimens for each subgroup were determined with a universal testing machine (5mm/min crosshead speed) after storing them in distilled water at $37{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours. Stress at failure was measured in $MP_a$, and mode of failure was recorded. Differences among four repair systems were analyzed with two way ANOVA and Duncan test at the 95% significance level. Results: In the scanning electron photomicrograph of the treated porcelain surface, hydrofluoric acid etched group appeared the highest roughness. The shear bond strength of the phosphoric acid etched group was not significantly(p>0.05) different between feldspathic porcelain and pressable porcelain. But in no treatment and roughened with a bur group, the shear bond strength of the feldspathic porcelain was significantly higher than that of the pressable porcelain. In hydrofluoric acid etched group, the shear bond strength of the pressable porcelain was significantly higher(p<0.05). Conclusion: 1. Treatment groups showed significantly greater shear bond strengths than no treatment group(p<0.05). 2. Group with more roughened porcelain surface did not always show higher shear bond strengths. 3. In phosphoric acid etched group, there was no significant difference in shear bond strength between feldspathic porcelain and pressable porcelain(p>0.05). However in the other groups, there were significant differences in shear bond strengths between feldspathic porcelain and pressable porcelain(p<0.05).

One of the input parameters in the evaluation of seismic performance of rockfill dams is shear-wave velocity of rock debris and clay core. Reliable evaluation of shear-wave velocity by surface-wave methods requires overcoming the problems of rock-debris discontinuity, material inhomogeneity and sloping boundary. In this paper, for the shear-wave velocity investigation of rockfill dams, SBF (Short-Array Beamforming) technique was proposed using the principles of conventional beamforming technique and adopted to solve limitations of the conventional surface-wave techniques. SBF technique utilizes a 3- to 9-m long measurement array and a far-field source, which allowed the technique to eliminate problems of near-field effects and investigate local anomalies. This paper describes the procedure to investigate shear-wave velocity profile of rockfill dams by SBF technique and IRF (Impulse-response filtration) technique with accuracy and reliability. Validity of the proposed SBF technique was verified by comparisons with downhole tests and CapSASW (Common-Array-Profiling Spectral-Analysis-of-Surface-Waves) tests at a railroad embankment compacted with rock debris.
PURPOSE. This study aimed to investigate whether dentin surface preparation with diamond rotary instruments of different grit sizes affects the shear bond strength of resin-bonded restorations. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The buccal enamel of 60 maxillary central incisors was removed with a low speed diamond saw and wet ground with silicon carbide papers. The polished surfaces of the teeth were prepared with four groups of rotary diamond burs with super-coarse (SC), coarse (C), medium (M), and fine (F) grit sizes. Following surface preparation, 60 restorations were casted with nickel-chromium alloy and bonded with Panavia cement. To assess the shear bond strength, the samples were mounted on a universal testing machine and an axial load was applied along the cement-restoration interface at the crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. The acquired data was analyzed with one way ANOVA and Tukey post hoc test (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. The $mean{\pm}SD$ shear bond strengths (in MPa) of the study groups were $17.75{\pm}1.41$ for SC, $13.82{\pm}1.13$ for C, $10.40{\pm}1.45$ for M, and $7.13{\pm}1.18$ for F. Statistical analysis revealed the significant difference among the study groups such that the value for group SC was significantly higher than that for group F (P<.001). CONCLUSION. Dentin surface roughness created by diamond burs of different grit sizes considerably influences the shear bond strength of resin bonded restorations.
Statement of problem: For the long-term success of removable partial dentures, the bonding between metal framework and denture base resin is one of the important factors. To improve bonding between those, macro-mechanical retentive form that is included metal framework design has been generally used. However it has been known that sealing at the interface between metal framework and denture base resin is very weak, because this method uses mechanical bonding. Purpose: Many studies has been made to find a simple method which induces chemical bond, now various bonding system is applied to clinic. In this experiment, shear bond strengths of heat-cured denture base resin to the surface-treated Co-Cr alloy were measured before and after thermocycling. Chemically treated groups with Alloy $Primer^{TM}$, Super-Bond $C&B^{TM}$, and tribochemically treated group with $Rocatec^{TM}$ system were compared to the beadtreated control group. The data were analyzed with two-way ANOVA. Result: 1. Shear bond strength of bead-treated group is highest, and Alloy $Primer^{TM}$ treated group, Super-Bond $C&B^{TM}$ treated group, RocatecTM system treated group were followed. Statistically significant differences were found in each treated group(p<0.05). 2. Surface treatment and thermocycling affected shear bond strength(p<0.05), however there was no interaction between two factors(p>0.05). 3. Shear bond strengths of bead-treated group and Alloy $Primer^{TM}$ treated group showed no statistically significant difference before and after thermocycling(p>0.05), and those of Super-Bond $C&B^{TM}$ treated group and $Rocatec^{TM}$ system treated group showed statistically significant difference after thermocycling(p<0.05).

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of various metal surface treatments on the shear bond strength between titanium denture base and relined resins. The surfaces of commercially pure(cp) titanium were sandblasted with $50{\mu}m$$Al_2O_3$ for 20 seconds and each group was treated with MR $Bond^{(R)}$, Alloy $Primer^{(R)}$, and Super-Bond $C&B^{(R)}$ accordingly. The specimens were completed by application of relining resins. The specimens were stored in room temperature. And the shear bond strength of the specimens were measured with the MTS universal testing $machine^{(R)}$. The results were as follows: 1. In comparison with the relining materials, $Kooliner^{(R)}$ groups showed statistically higher shear bond strength than Tokuyama Rebase $II^{(R)}$ groups(p<0.05). 2. Comparing shear bond strength, according to surface treatment, Super-bond $C&B^{(R)}$ groups showed the highest bond strength and were significantly higher than the other three groups(p<0.05). Alloy $Primer^{(R)}$ groups showed no significant difference with the MR $Bond^{(R)}$ groups, but was significantly higher than the sandblasting-only groups(p<0.05). 3. Comparing surface treatment in each groups, for two types of relining resin, the group which applies $Kooliner^{(R)}$ and Super-bond $C&B^{(R)}$ showed the highest bond strength and showed significant difference compared to the other groups(p<0.05). When using Tokuyama Rebase $II^{(R)}$, Super-bond C&B group showed the highest bond strength, but there were no significant difference compared to the Alloy $Primer^{(R)}$ group. In this limited study, applying $Kooliner^{(R)}$ and Super-Bond $C&B^{(R)}$ after sandblasting is considered to be advantageous for relining of titanium base dentures.
