In the conventional outrigger system, the outriggers are located in the planes of the core walls and this system has disadvantage of obstructing flexibility in the interior layout. But thc facade riggers in the structure uc located In the exterior frames in the direction of the lateral loading. The interaction between the traced frames and facade riggers is through the floor diaphragms adjacent to the chords of the riggers. This paper presents an approximate analysis technique lot preliminary analysis of multiple facade rigger stiffened braced frames in tall buildings subjected to uniformly and triangularly distributed loads as well as a lateral point load at the top of the structure. Comparisons with the results by the program MIDAS for the structural models have shown that this analysis can give reasonably accurate results for highrise braced frames with multiple facade riggers. The method allows a simple procedure for obtaining the optimum level of the facade riggers in addition to a rapid assessment of the influence of the facade riggers on the performance of the highrise structure such as the reduction in lateral deflection at the top and the overturning moment at the base of the braced frame.

In the seismic designing of bridges, the pile foundation of bridge piers generally have been modeled to have a fixed end for its convenience and conservative designing. The fixed-end assumption, however, produces very conservative results in terms of the pier forces. Therefore, many other design methods are evolved to consider the flexibility of the pile foundation. In this study, the response spectrum analysis was performed for a bridge pier having a pile foundation. The shear force, moment, and displacement, which occurred at the pier column under an earthquake loading, were compared to analyze the effects of the modeling method, soil condition and the input earthquake response spectrum. In most cases, the fixed-end model gives larger design forces than flexible foundation models. However, when a long period earthquake is applied to the bridge pier on a soft clay foundation, it is found that the flexible foundation models give larger design forces than the fixed-end model. In the end, the reliability of several flexible foundation models was verified by comparing their results with those of a numerical analysis that considers the soil-structure interaction phenomenon in a rigorous manner.

Earthquake resistance of RC column-steel beam (RCS) joints with simplified details were studied. Simplified details are necessary for large columns to improve the productivity and constructability. To strengthen the beam-column joint, the effects of transverse beams, studs, and U-cross ties were used. Four 2/3 scale interior RCS connections were tested under cyclic lateral loading. The specimens generally exhibited good deformation capacity exceeding 4.0% story drift ratio after yielding of both beam and beam-column joint. Ultimately, the specimens failed by shear mechanism of the joint panel. The test strengths were compared with the predictions of existing design methods.
In this study, eleven reinforced concrete beams, ground granulated blast furnace slag, replacing recycled coarse aggregate (BRS series) and recycled coarse aggregate with steel fiber (BSRS series), and standard specimen (BSS) were constructed and tested under monotonic loading. Experimental programs were carried out to improve and evaluate the shear performance of such test specimens, such as the load-displacement, the failure mode and the maximum load carrying capacity. All the specimens were modeled in 1/2 scale-down size. Test results showed that test specimens (BSRS Series) was increased the compressive strength by 9%, the maximum load carrying capacity by 1~6% and the ductility capacity by 1.02~1.13 times in comparison with the standard specimen (BSS). And the specimens (BSRS Series) showed enough ductile behavior and stable flexural failure.

In exterior beam-column joints, hooked bars are used for anchorage, but usage of high-strength and large-diameter bars increases, headed bar is preferred for solving steel congestion and difficulty in construction. To investigate the structural performance of headed bars, Six exterior beam-column joints were tested under cyclic loading. Tests parameter were the anchorage methods and concrete strength. The test results indicate that behavior of headed bar specimens shows similar performance with hooked bar specimens. All specimens failed by flexural failure of the beam. Headed bar specimens shows better performance in anchorage and joint shear. All specimens were satisfied the criteria of ACI374.1-05. Test results indicate that use of headed bar in exterior beam column joint is available.
Continuously contacting with camshaft the face of Valve Lifter made of cast iron brings about abnormal wear such as unfairwear or earlywear because it is heavily loaded in the valve train systems as the engine gets more powered. This abnormal wear becomes a defet namely over-clearance when the valve is lifting so that the fuel gas imperfectly combusted by unsuitable open or close aaction of the engine valve in the combustion chamber. The imperfect combustion in the end results in the major cause of air pollution and combustion chamber. The imperfectly combusted by unsuitable open or close action of the engine valve in the combustion chamber. The imperfect combustion in the end results in the major causes of air pollution and decrease of the engine output. Consequently to prevent this wear this study was to develop the valve lifter which is joined by brazing process with SCM435H and a tip by manufacturing the face as a superhardened which is joined by brazing process with SCM435H and a tip by manufacturing the face as a superhardened ceramics alloy which has high wear resistance. Having the excellent surface hardness with Hv1100-1200 the sintered body developed with superhardened alloy(WC) can endure the severe face loading in the valve train system. We experienced with various brazing alloys and obtained the excellent joining strength to the joint had 150MPa shear strength. Interface analysis and microstructure in a joint were examined through SEM & EDS Optical microscope. Also 2,500 hours high speed(3,000-4,000 rpm) and continuous (1step 12hr) engine dynamo testing was carried out to casting valve liter and ceramics-metal joint valve lifter so that the abnormal wears were compared and evaluated.
Various type of in-situ and laboratary tests were performed in order to evaluate the stiffness of sedimentary soft rock. In triaxial compression tests of sedimentary soft rocks, axial strains from the axial displacement of the loading piston or specimen cap conventionally were considerably larger than those measured. tocally on the lateral surfaces of specimen, due to the bedding errors at the top and bottom ends of a specimen. A local deformation transducer was used to measure axial strains free from the bedding error ranging from 0.001% to about 1%. In ultra-sonic wave tests, the elastic modulus of unconfined spec imens was smaller than that of confined specimens, due probably to microfracks. Young's modulus Ed from ultra-sonic wave tests and those at small local strains from triaxial tests were similar, both of which agreed very well with Young's modulus Er from field shear wave velocities. Young'a modulus from the field behaviour was virtually similar to that obtained by reducing Er based on the strain level-dependency of stiffness evaluated by the triaxial tests.
Recently, magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) material and its devices have been developed and attracted a good deal of attention for their potentials in vibration control. Among them, a highly adaptive base isolator based on MRE was designed, fabricated and tested for real-time adaptive control of base isolated structures against a suite of earthquakes. To perfectly take advantage of this new device, an accurate and robust model should be built to characterize its nonlinearity and hysteresis for its application in structural control. This paper first proposes a novel hysteresis model, in which a nonlinear hyperbolic sine function spring is used to portray the strain stiffening phenomenon and a Voigt component is incorporated in parallel to describe the solid-material behaviours. Then the fruit fly optimization algorithm (FFOA) is employed for model parameter identification using testing data of shear force, displacement and velocity obtained from different loading conditions. The relationships between model parameters and applied current are also explored to obtain a current-dependent generalized model for the control application. Based on the proposed model of MRE base isolator, a second-order sliding mode controller is designed and applied to the device to provide a real-time feedback control of smart structures. The performance of the proposed technique is evaluated in simulation through utilizing a three-storey benchmark building model under four benchmark earthquake excitations. The results verify the effectiveness of the proposed current-dependent model and corresponding controller for semi-active control of MRE base isolator incorporated smart structures.
Many studies reveal that during destructive earthquakes, most of the structures enter the inelastic phase. The amount of hysteretic energy in a structure is considered as an important criterion in structure design and an important indicator for the degree of its damage or vulnerability. The hysteretic energy value wasted after the structure yields is the most important component of the energy equation that affects the structures system damage thereof. Controlling this value of energy leads to controlling the structure behavior. Here, for the first time, the hysteretic behavior and energy dissipation capacity are assessed at presence of elliptical braced resisting frames (ELBRFs), through an experimental study and numerical analysis of FEM. The ELBRFs are of lateral load systems, when located in the middle bay of the frame and connected properly to the beams and columns, in addition to improving the structural behavior, do not have the problem of architectural space in the bracing systems. The energy dissipation capacity is assessed in four frames of small single-story single-bay ELBRFs at ½ scale with different accessories, and compared with SMRF and X-bracing systems. The frames are analyzed through a nonlinear FEM and a quasi-static cyclic loading. The performance features here consist of hysteresis behavior, plasticity factor, energy dissipation, resistance and stiffness variation, shear strength and Von-Mises stress distribution. The test results indicate that the good behavior of the elliptical bracing resisting frame improves strength, stiffness, ductility and dissipated energy capacity in a significant manner.

This paper is concerned with the thermoelastic bending of FG beams resting on two-layer elastic foundations. One of these layers is Winkler springs with a variable modulus while the other is considered as a shear layer with a constant modulus. The beams are considered simply supported and subjected to thermo-mechanical loading. Temperature-dependent material properties are considered for the FG beams, which are assumed to be graded continuously across the panel thickness. The used theories contain undetermined integral terms which lead to a reduction of unknowns functions. Several micromechanical models are used to estimate the effective two-phase FG material properties as a function of the particles' volume fraction considering thermal effects. Analytical solutions for the thermo-mechanical bending analysis are obtained based on Navier's method that satisfies the boundary conditions. Finally, the numerical results are provided to reveal the effect of explicit micromechanical models, geometric parameters, temperature distribution and elastic foundation parameters on the thermoelastic response of FG beams.
