This research describes on airfoil shape design, crucial to core technique and algorithm optimization for the wind turbine blade development. We grasped the parameter to define the airfoil shape in the wind turbine blade and aircraft, and the important performance characteristic of the airfoil. The airfoil shape function is selected by studying which is suitable for wind turbine blade airfoil development. The selected method is verified by to compare the generated airfoil shape with base airfoil. The new airfoils were created by the selecting shape function based on the well-known airfoil for wind turbine blades. In addition, we performed aerodynamic analysis about the generated airfoils by XFOIL and estimated the point of difference in the airfoil shape parameter using the aerodynamic performance results which is compared with basic airfoil. This result data applies to the fundamental research for a wind turbine blade optimization design and accomplished the aerodynamic analysis manual.

TASS(Towed Array Sonar System) is a sonar system which tows the sensor array behind a platform. Array shape is generally assumed to be a straight line. But the array shape is often distorted by oceanic current or platform maneuvering which causes the performance loss of signal processing method like beamforming. So array shape estimation methods are needed. Typically the method based on Kalman filter using heading sensor is used. In practice, the measurement is corrupted by biases which are caused by rotation of the tow cable, varying magnetic fields and slowly varying stresses in the mechanical construction. Although they can't be calibrated but can be estimated. In this paper, we suggest the array shape estimation method based on Kalman filter compensating the sensor biases.

Parthenogenetic development, hybrid vigour and cocoon shape variability were studied in bivoltine F1 hybrids of the silkworm, Bombyx mori L. Considerable breed differences were observed in parthenogenetic ability. Among the parental breeds, CSR18 exhibited maximum parthenogenetic development (79.65%) followed by CSR4 (67.90%). Among bivoltine F1 hybrids, CSR18 ${\times}$ CSR4 showed highest parthenogenetic development (73.32%) followed by CSR2 ${\times}$ CSR4 (55.43%). Study on hybrid vigour demonstrated that CSR18 ${\times}$ CSR19 expressed maximum significant hybrid vigour for all the seven economic characters over Mid Parent Value (MPV) followed by CSR2 ${\times}$ CSR4 and CSR18 ${\times}$ CSR4 exhibiting significant heterosis for six characters. Cocoon shape measurement study revealed that among ten bivoltine F1 hybrids, cocoons of three hybrids were found comparatively uniform. Importance of this study to know the level of paythenogenetic development, hybrid vigour and cocoon shape variability in different bivoltine F1 hybrids have been discussed.

In this study, we develop a prediction method of cavity shape taking gravity effect and angle of attack of cavitator into consideration simultaneously. Logvinovich's theoretical formulas are superimposed to predict the change of cavity centerline due to both gravity effect and angle of attack of cavitator. It is found that as the angle of attack of cavitator increases, the gravity effect is weakened due to decrease in cavity volume, and even in case of the same angle of attack, cavity shape changes in different ways depending on whether the angle of attack of cavitator is positive or negative. We conclude that cavity shapes are largely affected by the angle of attack of cavitator, and the gravity effect and angle of attack of cavitator should be considered at the same time for the prediction of cavity shape.

In this study, in order to prevent cavitation in a variable swash-plate type hydraulic pump, a basic model impeller has been applied to a new pump, and the impeller shape has been optimized through flow analysis. Based on the analysis results, we could propose an impeller shape with high efficiency and low possibility of cavitation in comparison with the basic model. The simplification of the basic shape of the impeller of the hydraulic pump was performed in three parts in the order of hub shape, wing, and curvature, and eight design parameters were defined to satisfy the design requirement. Compared with the initial model of the impeller, when the differential pressure of the optimum model increased, the efficiency was improved. It achieved the goal of design improvement because cavitation did not occur under the rated operating conditions.

The purpose of this study is to analyze impacts of the forest fragmentation caused by development project. Furthermore, to investigate the applicability of landscape indicator when 'Feasibility of forest land conversion to other use' is conducted. The study site was consisted of golf course development and road construction. It is to compare before and after impacts of areal and linear development. As for the methods, selecting landscape indices, clustered into 3 Categories have been utilized. Category I was concerned with 'size of forest patches', II as 'shape of forest patches', and III as 'Core Area' These were calculated by FRAGSTATS, the program for analyzing fragmentation. The results showed that linear development caused more fragmented than areal development projects. Also, patch size, patch shape and core area are related to impacts of development, while Patch size decreased, patch shape and core area increased after development. Therefore, it is necessary to minimize the impacts of forest by considering fragmentation when development project is planned.
$\textbullet$ This system executes the algorithm that makes the various types of shape to the flat shape. $\textbullet$ In old system, we could not develop and test the new shape control algorithms $\textbullet$ We developed the PC based cold mill shape control system. $\textbullet$ It can be added on the new shape control algorithm and is cost-effective and maintained easily. $\textbullet$ The shape control system consists of the shape controller, the MMI system and the Shape data sewer.

Surfaces of many engineering structures, specially, those of ships and airplanes are commonly fabricated as doubly curved shapes as well as singly curved surfaces to fulfill functional requirements. Given a three dimensional design surface, the first step in the fabrication process is unfolding or planar development of this surfaces into a planar shape so that the manufacturer can determine the initial shape of the flat plate. Also a good planar development enables the manufacturer to estimate the strain distribution required to form the design shape. In this paper, an algorithm for optimal approximated development of a general curved surface, including both singly and doubly curved surface is developed in the sense that the strain energy from its planar development to the design surface is minimized, subjected to some constraints. The development process is formulated into a constrained nonlinear programming problem, which is on basis of deformation theory and finite element. Constraints are subjected to characteristics of the fabrication method. Some examples on typical surfaces and the practical ship surfaces show the effectiveness of this algorithm.

To classify the vehicle targets automatically using thermal images, there are usually two main categories of feature extraction method, local and shape feature extraction methods. Since thermal images have less texture information than color images, the shape feature extraction method is useful when the segmentation results are correct. However, if there are some errors in target segmentation, the shape feature may contain some errors, then the classification accuracy can be decreased. To overcome these problems, in this paper, we propose the segmentation reliability estimation method for target classification. The segmentation reliability can be estimated by using the difference information of average intensities and edge energies between the target and the background area. The estimated segmentation reliability is applied in the decision level fusion method of classification results using both shape and local features. Experiment results using the thermal images of the vehicle targets (main battle tank, armored personnel carrier, military truck, and an estate car) show that the proposed classification method and the segmentation reliability estimation method have a good performance in classification accuracy.

Software Reliability implemented in software development is one of the most important issues. In finite failure NHPP software reliability models for software failure analysis, the hazard function that means a failure rate may have constant independently for failure time, non-increasing or non-decreasing pattern. In this study, software development cost analysis considering the variable shape parameter of Erlang distribution as the failure life distribution in the software product testing process was studied. The software failure model was applied finite failure Non-Homogeneous Poisson Procedure and the parameters approximation using maximum likelihood estimation was accompanied. Thus, this paper was presented comparative analysis by applying a software failure time data to the software, considering the shape parameter of Erlang distribution for development cost model analysis. When compared to the cost curve in accordance with the shape parameter, the model of smaller shape can be seen that the optimal software release time delay and more cost. Through this study, it is thought that it can serve as a preliminary information which can basically help the software developers to search for development cost according to software shape parameters.
