  • The electric utility industry around the world is undergoing a revolutionary transition from vertically integrated monopoly structure to a competitive industry. Electric market price changes hourly because suppliers and customers participate in a open market competitively. In this paper a web program developed wi function of OPF calculation. This program is re by a perl language. Also We calculated the marginal cost and the congestion charge shadow price resulted from the OPF.

Submarket Identification in Property Markets: Focusing on a Hedonic Price Model Improvement (부동산 하부시장 구획: 헤도닉 모형의 개선을 중심으로)

  • Two important issues in hedonic model are to specify accurate model and delineate submarkets. While the former has experienced much improvement over recent decades, the latter has received relatively little attention. However, the accuracy of estimates from hedonic model will be necessarily reduced when the analysis does not adequately address market segmentation which can capture the spatial scale of price formation process in real estate. Placing emphasis on improvement of performance in hedonic model, this paper tried to segment real estate markets in Gangnam-gu and Jungrang-gu, which correspond to most heterogeneous and homogeneous ones respectively in 25 autonomous districts of Seoul. First, we calculated variable coefficients from mixed geographically weighted regression model (mixed GWR model) as input for clustering, since the coefficient from hedonic model can be interpreted as shadow price of attributes constituting real estate. After that, we developed a spatially constrained data-driven methodology to preserve spatial contiguity by utilizing the SKATER algorithm based on a minimum spanning tree. Finally, the performance of this method was verified by applying a multi-level model. We concluded that submarket does not exist in Jungrang-gu and five submarkets centered on arterial roads would be reasonable in Gangnam-gu. Urban infrastructure such as arterial roads has not been considered an important factor for delineating submarkets until now, but it was found empirically that they play a key role in market segmentation.

  • This study has investigated Linear Programming (LP) applications to special decision making problems in managerial accounting with the help of spreadsheet Solver tools. It uses scenario approaches to case examples having three products and three resources in make-and-supply business operations, which is applicable to cases having more variables and constraints. Integer Programmings (IP) are applied in order to model situations when products are better valued in integer values or logical constraints are required. Three cases in one-time-only special order decisions include Goal Programming approach, Knapsack problems with 0/1 selections, and fixed-charge 0/1 integer modelling techniques for set-up operation costs. For the decisions in outsourcing problems, opportunity-costs of resources expressed by shadow-prices are considered to determine their precise contributions. It has also shown that the improvement in work-shop operation for an unprofitable product must overcome its 'reduced cost' by the sum of direct manufacturing cost savings and its shadow-price contributions. This paper has demonstrated how various real situations of special decision problem in managerial accounting can be approached without mistakes by using LP's and IP's, and how students both in accounting and management science can acquire LP skills in their education.

  • In this paper, we empirically evaluate the potential performance of energy conversion policy and analyze its effects on power generation sector. We first examine the degree of substitutability between energy inputs by measuring the price elasticities of energy demands and then estimate the changes in CO2 generation when the proportions of nuclear power plants and renewable power generation are increased. The shadow prices of nuclear power and renewable energy are calculated to compare the potential costs of power generation between the two energy sources. We analyze the impacts of the expansion of nuclear power plants and renewable power generation on power supply price. Nuclear and renewable energy were measured to be complementary to each other. The expansion of nuclear power plants has been more effective in reducing CO2 emissions than increasing renewable power generation. In most years over 2002 to 2016, the impact of nuclear power expansion on the power supply price was generally higher than that of renewable power generation, with relatively large range of fluctuations.

Comparison of Efficiency and Productivity Change, and Shadow Prices of Pollutant in Chinese and Korean Manufacturing Industries (한·중 제조업의 효율성, 생산성 변화와 오염잠재가격 비교)

  • The purpose of this paper is to compare technical efficiencies and productivities without and with environmental constraints, and shadow prices of $SO_x$ in Korean and Chinese industries. The technical efficiencies without and with environment in Chinese manufacturing industries are higher than those in Korean manufacturing industries for 2000-2004. Most of individual Chinese manufacturing dominate those of Korean manufacturing in levels of technical efficiency. In terms of productivity changes excluding environmental constraints, the rates of annual growth in Korean and Chinese industries show 1.13 percent and 2.73 percent respectively. But Korean industry in productivity changes considering $SO_x$ reduction shows 2.41 percent, higher rate of growth than 1.58 percent of Chinese industry. In the shadow prices of $SO_x$, the reduction of an additional unit of $SO_x$ in the Korean manufacturing needs a decrease of 1.473 unit of output, while the shadow price of $SO_x$ in Chinese manufacturing is 0.0049, close to zero. Korean manufacturing should be specialized in higher sectors of technical efficiency and productivity and be also kept efficient in pollution abatement cost.

  • In order to test for the dynamic optimality condition for the use of nonrenewable resource, it is necessary to estimate the shadow value of the resource in situ. In the previous literatures, a time series for in situ price has been derived either as the difference between marginal revenue and marginal cost or by differentiating with respect to the quantity of ore extracted the restricted cost function in which the quantity of ore is quasi-fixed. However, not only inconsistent estimates are likely to be generated due to the nonmalleability of capital, but the estimate of marginal revenue will be affected by market power. Since firms will likely fail to minimize the cost of the reproducible inputs subject to market prices under realistic circumstances where imperfect factor markets, strikes, or government regulations are present, the shadow in situ values obtained by estimating the restricted cost function can be biased. This paper provides a valid methodology for checking the dynamic optimality condition for a nonrenewable resource by using the input distance function. Our methodology has some advantages over previous ones: only data on quantities of inputs and outputs are required; nor is the maintained hypothesis of cost minimization required; adoption of linear programming enables us to circumvent autocorrelated errors problem caused by use of time series or panel data. The dynamic optimality condition for domestic coal mining does not hold for constant discount rates ranging from 2 to 20 percent over the period 1970~1993. The dynamic optimality condition also does not hold for variable rates ranging from fourth to four times the real interest rate.

  • The researches about the general flow of new product development process was achieved in various field. But there was little discussion about the methodologies and tools used in that process. So we suggest new DEA model as the methodology that determines sustainable price and quality attributes and this can substitute econometric hedonic methodology. To make smooth surface composed of quality attributes and price, we use QC-DEA model. Additionally we make AR-QC DEA model by introducing AR to reflect consumer perceptions on quality attributes. AR-QC DEA overcomes the limits of parametric methodology and represents product-specific shadow prices, so it is possible to supply the information about quality attributes and price combination in new product development process and to simulate easily whether new product can exist in the market. Finally by empirical research on notebook computer we can show that AR-QC DEA has the ability to explain market change.

  • As a competition is introduced in the electricity supply industry, a congestion problem arises in the transmission network. The congestion causes the transmission cost to increase. One way to decrease the congestion cost is to control the transmission flow through the installation of FACTS(Flexible AC Transmission system). This paper deals with the optimal site of the FACTS for reducing the congestion cost using a shadow price which is one of the economic signals for the systems. Test results show that the site of the FACTS(UPFC) is optimal to minimize the congestion cost by the proposed algorithm.

  • The electric utility industry around the world is undergoing a revolutionary transition from vertically integrated monopoly structures to a competitive structures. Competition in an open transmission access(OTA) makes the market participants access easily the transmission system in a non-discriminatory and equitable manner. The competitions of suppliers and customers make the electric market price change every hour. This paper presents a web program in the internet environment with a function of optimal power flow(OPF) calculation. The Web program gives the nodal marginal cost and the congestion charge using the shadow prices resulted from OPF. This web program is realized by a Perl and JAVA languages, and using the common gateway interface(CGI).

One way to decrease the congestion cost is to control the transmission flow through the installation of TCSC(Thyrister Controlled Series Capacitor). This paper deals with the optimal site of the TCSC for reducing the congestion cost using a shadow price which is one of the economic signals for the systems. Test results show that the site of the TCSC is optimal to minimize the congestion cost by the proposed algorithm.
