A study on the spray and flame by optically accessible D.I. diesel engine : analysis by Schlieren method and diffused background illumination method (가시용 직분식 디젤기관의 분무와 화염에 관한 연구)

  • To analyze the spray and flame in D.I. diesel engine, the visualizing methods by schlieren photograph and diffused background illumination photograph with high speed camera are applied to optically accessible D.I.diesel engine. Wcaporating spray, spray droplets and brightness flame are taken with high speed camera by visuallizing method in accordance with various suction air temperature and injection time. The spray and flame image on the film was analyzed by image analyzer. The optically accessible D.I. diesel engine had the similar pressure characteristic to the real D.I. diesel engine. Experimental results showed that shadow areas of the evaporating spray were extended at higher suction air temperature, spray droplets had a max. Penetration length and their penetrating patterns were dependent on the surrounding gas temperature, and flame size after ignition was largely governed by the evaporated fuel quantity at ignition point and by the surrounding gas condition due to piston motion.

  • The key points of the CTP board is as follows: Film, brightness, plate exposure is eliminated, the reduction of personal expenses, and the reduction of time consumption. But above all, the accurate reappearance of the highlighting and shadow portion as well as self modification of the dust edge portion stands out as the most impressive improvements. In this paper, using a digital test from 4.0 and a Thermal CTP color printing control, the two parts of the Thermal CTP utilized a 1%-99% dot reappearance. Also, using an opposite line target, the results of the CTP plates and printing were compared. Finally, research was made on the printing quality on the slur development of the plate and the result when there was a lack of weave connection.

3D-Stereogram Design using the Shadow Stereopsis Method (조명법을 이용한 3D-Stereogram 제작)

  • It is formed of 3D image stereopsis by the left right retina image's fusion and can be made 3D-Stereogram because of occuring the depth perception of binocular disparity. We made the 3D-stereogram of the object of shape a ball and the eyes by taking a photograph of the light source's position angle contrast of the binocular disparity's field angle. We examined that 3D-stereogram was to be the stereopsis.

  • SAR image is not dependent on the weather condition and Sun's electromagnetic energy. But geometric distortions exist in almost all radar image, it need to be correction. The Radarsat-1 SAR images are used to monitoring of moisture acquired in May 1/1998 and May 25/1998. Radarsat-1 C band data is sensitive on moisture condition. Study area is located in Non-san site. It is made up almost agricultural area and a little of forest area. In May, Rice-planting is started in the midland of Korea. So moisture condition is undergoing many changes. Forest area need to be terrain effect removal for accurately results because it is included in layover, shadow, and so on. Results of land-cover moisture condition map are useful tool for fields of agriculture, forestry industry, and disaster.

  • This paper describes the path planning of an autonomous mobile robot using one camera-based sequence image processing. As an assumption, all objects in front of the mobile robot are located on the same plane where robot moves. Using the moving camera grounded on the autonomous mobile robot, the robot extracts the angular points of obstacle objects, calculates the height using the assumption and discrepancy between two consecutive images. In the image processing, angular points of objects must correspond so that they deliver the size of objects.   • In this paper, we develop an automatic coin calculation system by using digital image processing. Existing schemes have the problem that is not able to exclude non-circular shape from the calculation. We propose a method to detect only coins which have circular form by applying the circular Hough transform(CHT). However, the CHT has the drawback that detects multiple circles even for just one coin because of shadow noise, the patterns on coins, and non-circular edge detection. We propose a post processing algorithm to overcome these limitations. The proposed system was implemented and successfully calculated the coin amount in the case that non-circular objects are mixed with coins.

  • Among the technologies for implementing autonomous vehicles, advanced driver assistance system is a key technology to support driver's safe driving. In the technology using the vision sensor having a high utility, various preprocessing methods are used prior to feature extraction for lane detection. However, in the existing methods, the unnecessary lane candidates such as cars, lawns, and road separator in the road area are false positive. In addition, there are cases where the lane candidate itself can not be extracted in the area under the overpass, the lane within the dark shadow, the center lane of yellow, and weak lane. In this paper, we propose an efficient preprocessing method using k-means clustering for image division and the HSV color model. When the proposed preprocessing method is applied, the true positive region is maximally maintained during the lane detection and many false positive regions are removed.

A Video Traffic Flow Detection System Based on Machine Vision

  • This study proposes a novel video traffic flow detection method based on machine vision technology. The three-frame difference method, which is one kind of a motion evaluation method, is used to establish initial background image, and then a statistical scoring strategy is chosen to update background image in real time. Finally, the background difference method is used for detecting the moving objects. Meanwhile, a simple but effective shadow elimination method is introduced to improve the accuracy of the detection for moving objects. Furthermore, the study also proposes a vehicle matching and tracking strategy by combining characteristics, such as vehicle's location information, color information and fractal dimension information. Experimental results show that this detection method could quickly and effectively detect various traffic flow parameters, laying a solid foundation for enhancing the degree of automation for traffic management.

Color Space Based Objects Detection System from Video Sequences

  • This paper propose a statistical color model of background extraction base on Hue-Saturation-Value(HSV) color space, instead of the traditional RGB space, and shows that it provides a better use of the color information. HSV color space corresponds closely to the human perception of color and it has revealed more accuracy to distinguish shadows [3] [4]. The key feature of this segmentation method is based on processing hue component of color in HSV color space on image area. The HSV color model is used, its color components are efficiently analyzed and treated separately so that the proposed algorithm can adapt to different environmental illumination condition and shadows. Polar and linear statistical operations are used to calculate the background from the video frames. The experimental results show that the proposed background subtraction method can automatically segment video objects robustly and accurately in various illuminating and shadow environments.
