중년남성의 배우자 사별경험 (Experiences of Spousal Bereavement in Middle Aged Men)

  • Death of spouse is the most heartbreaking stressful and inevitable tragic life event. In middle aged men who belong to the social middle class and accomplished their occupational success, experiences of spousal bereavement are great shock. The aim of this study was to find out how they overcome their mental and physical pain and to obtain the basic materials to develop suitable nursing care programs for them. The methodological approach of this study is Giorgi's phenomenological analysis meaning unit. This method also makes theme focal meaning, situated structural description and create general structural description grasped by participator's experience through situated structure description. This study performed from November 2002 to May 2004, and participators were four men. Data collected through in-depth personal interviews. which had been tapped and analysed the Giorgi's method. Finally, the five focal meaning below have been abstracted. Theme 1. Physical symptom loss of appetite, fatigue, insomnia. outbreak of illness, weight loss. Theme 2. life of spiritless lack of desire, sense of emptiness, unstableness, prosaic life. wandering. indifference of appearances, avoidance of meeting people. Theme 3. life of retrospction reflection for his wife, yearning, grief, muttering to himself, never-to-be forgotten wife, leading a lonely life. Theme 4. negative emotion reproaching, feeling hurt, marriage of daughter, feeling heavy, getting angry, sexual desire, awareness of his sinfulness. loneliness Theme 5. social support and adjustment getting his wife off his mind, curring favor with children, support and consolation by his daughter-in-law, appreciation for hospice nurse, considering remarriage, taking care of himself, good relation with his children. The result of this study showed that middle aged men bereaved of their wife by cancer need other's concern. And we have to study further to understand their experience. Until now hospice nursing is concentrated on cancer patients But from now we have to provide their families suitable nursing care programs to adjust themselves to social life before and after death of patients.

현대(現代)패션에 나타난 기호(記號)의 의미(意味) 분석(分析) - 1990년(年) 이후(以後)의 패션 컬렉션을 중심(中心)으로 - (A Study on the Meanings of Signs represented in Contemporary Fashion - Focusing on Fashion Collections since 1990 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the meanings of signs represented in contemporary fashion based on the Peirce's trisection theory in order to present various types of sign representation that satisfies aesthetic value and characteristics of the age of information and image. Types of signs represented in contemporary fashion can be summarized into letters, numbers, codes, pictures, logos, characters and emblems. The meanings of signs were analyzed based on the Peirce's trisection theory, resulting in representation of play, brandsymbol, eroticism and suggestion. The play was categorized into infantile and parodic. The former inspires unexpected interest and laughter from contemporary people in the age of disorder through humorous characters, cartoons and illustrations. The latter inspires laughter by parodying things and it's intention is to release the isolation of people and their relative poverty through pictures for which techniques of parody and surrealism were used. Most of the brandsymbols represented by logos, used for textile and clothing design as well as accessories are optimal signs that construct brand images. Eroticism means emotion, impulses, senses of value and sexual attraction. A desire to represent sexual attraction is an expression of eroticism and self-expression to adjust in a changing society. Suggestion tends to pursue the image of harmony with nature in a world which is pressed by material civilization. Humans represent illuminating messages through direct slogans by characters, natural objects and motives of social phenomenon in pursuit of the benefits of abundant material civilization in the structure of a highly advanced scientific civilization and industrial society.

재발성 음경지속발기증 1례 (A Case Report of treating Stuttering Priapism)

  • Priapism is a persistent penile erection that continues for more than 4 hours beyond, or is unrelated to, sexual stimulation. Because priapism is a medical emergency, all patients with priapism should be evaluated and treated urgently. Subtypes of priapism are ischemic, non-ischemic and stuttering priapism. Stuttering type is a recurrent form of ischemic priapism in which unwanted painful erections occur repeatedly with intervening periods of detumescence. The etiology of this type is often idiopathic and the treatments are still not clearly established. We present one case of stuttering priapism which occurred after suppression of his sexual desire. A 23-year-old man visited our clinic complaining of recurrent pain and erections persisting for about 5 weeks. We performed evaluation and confirmed the diagnosis of Rigid swollen penis. Jibaekjihwang-tang gamibang (ZhiBaiDihuang-Tang Jiaweifang) was administerd to the patient for 9 days. After the treatment, duration of erections and pain showed remarkable improvements. This will be recorded as the first case report of treating priapism with a Korean medical approach and suggests that Korean medicine therapy can be efficient to treat priapism.

Walter Van Beirendonck 디자인에 나타난 미학 (Design Aesthetics of Walter Van Beirendonck)

  • Walter Van Beirendonck expresses a fairy tale world of perverted sexual desire of sadism and masochism, violence, and aggressiveness that breaks from a transient one-time concept as is an essential element of fashion. This study classifies the aesthetic characteristic shown on the design of Walter Van Beirendonck and analyzes the intent of his symbolism and meaning. The attempt has a meaning in exploring a new directionality of fashion by conveying a critical message to this end, contemporary fashion breaks down boundaries with artistic genre and connects a problematic consciousness that exists in life with fashion. The results of study on the aesthetic characteristics of Walter Van Beirendonck are as follows. First, Beirendonck emphasized an interpersonal image about body by giving a question through the deconstruction of image on a perfect body into race, age, and body based on body modification. Second, fetishism appeared as a consciousness that human identity and character can be changed by connecting a fetish element of sexual identity, and sadism and masochism with fashion's imagination. Third, infantilism as an amusement expression of the form metaphorically satirized life of modern people. Fourth, makeup shown on performance or festival of an African tribe was used in the way of mixture or reuse for ethnography to obtain inspiration from ethnography. Fifth, pop art combined a popular culture code as amusement through mass production and mass media. Aesthetics of Beirendonck do not have norm and are bold in using form, color, pattern, print, and styling because Beirendonck reinterpreted critical attitudes about essential problems that human life entails into a motif of his symbolic meaning in amusement. In regards to his design aesthetics, Beirendonck expanded fashion to the scope of Gesamtkunstwerk in a consistent and continued theme combined with philosophical creativity and differentiated from other fashion designers.

웹 2.0 시대 패션에 나타난 남성의 자아이미지 - 퍼스널 패션블로그를 중심으로 - (Men's ego-images represented on the fashion blogs in web 2.0 era)

  • In the era of 2.0 web, blog has become the media that men can express themselves with fashion more actively and independently, as paying much attention to their personal appearance and cultivating an upscale lifestyle. They often create their fashion images in the virtual space where enables a free and creative operations of self-expression. The study aims to identify the types of men's ego-images represented on the personal fashion blogs based on the framework of analysis from the previous research (Suh, 2014), to build the base data for analyzing men's fashion style in $21^{st}$21st century that reflects changes in men's sexual images, and to verify the framework as comparing with the previous case study about the women blogs (Suh, 2014). The case studies conducted 5 men's personal blogs such as bryanboy, iamgala, little fashionisto, katelovesme, and stylentonic. The study results almost same types of women's ego-images as following. The imaginary ego-image is classified as narcissism, regression, identification, and virtuality, the social ego-image as symbolism of roles and others'desire, the real ego as primary instinct, practical reality, object a, jouissance and sexual perversion. The personal style of men shown on the fashion blogs appears as a significant factor to analyze male customers in the growing men's beauty and fashion market.

현대패션에 표현된 다원적 성에 관한 사회기호학적 분석 (II) (Socio-semiotic Analysis of Plural Sexuality represented in Modern Fashion (II))

  • The second part of this study is to typify plural sexuality articulated with fashion images in men's and women's popular fashion magazines in Korea since 2000 and ultimately to infer sexual ideology codified in modern fashion by a framework of this study, the socio-semiotic model. From this, sexuality represented in modern fashion was typified as follows: in women's fashion Traditional Femininity, Glamor Femininity, Androgynous Femininity, Babydoll Femininity and Genderless sexuality, while in men's fashion Traditional Masculinity, Macho Masculinity, Androgynous Masculinity, Adolescent Masculinity and Genderless sexuality. The conclusion of this study is as follows: First, modern fashion has been changed from a means expressing gender and class into a sign vehicle representing the new ruling system of age and sexual desire. The binary oppositional sexuality on center of man in the 19 C capitalist period has been gradually pluralized towards the post-capitalist period. Next, mainstream society in Korea is still positioned in the traditional heterosexuality, keeping the vertical power relationship between man and woman even in the post-modern period. However, the fact that both Traditional Femininity and Androgynous Femininity acquire the position of dominant femininity connotes the change of modern femininity. Finally, plural sexuality represented in modern fashion has family resemblance and it shows contextual flexibility within contemporary period as well as a historical context. As a result, sexuality floats with a specific historical and socio-cultural context, and fashion as a material culture represents a masquerade as a identity vehicle, which constructs and de-constructs sexuality at the same time.

영화 <사랑보다 아름다운 유혹>에 나타난 팜므 파탈 의상의 미적 특성 (The Esthetic Features of Femme Fatale Fashions in Movie )

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the esthetic features of femme fatale character fashions, which are shown in Movie . The feature of evil femineity is the attribute of evil which brings men to ruin by the dangerous, cunning, and cruel trick, and is expressed in black color, red color, and slash fashion. This fashion shows the dark reverse side of women's sexual desire in relation to anxiety, evil, and death. The feature of sensuality evokes physical pleasures or desires, and maximizes the exposure of sexual regions by tightening or loosening women's body. In the fashion expressing this feature, the forms are fit or loose silhouette. and the colors are black and red. and the materials are soft. This fashion seems to deconstruct the past concept of sex consciousness and emphasize the independent and autonomous femineity. The feature of positiveness combines feminine elements with masculine elements in relation to power elements. This feature is expressed in tailored suit and trousers, with few patterns and details, and in black color and gray color. This fashion reflects the aggressive, challenging, and independent femineity, and expresses the potential defense for the weakness and danger of female body. The feature of purity expresses the earnest and truthful mind, and is expressed in the soft and light one-piece dress, the elegant suit, and the pink color and black color fashion. This fashion shows angel-like and reliable womanly beauty, but at the same time shows women's attribute which changes their behavior and thinking every moment, so that this fashion shows women's double-sided attribute which combines women's weakness and violence, or tenacity and conflict.

'육체의 복수' -포크너의 『압살롬, 압살롬!』에 나타난 성적, 인종적 타자의 귀환 (Revenge of the Flesh: The Return of Sexual and Racial Otherness in Faulkner's Absalom, Absalom!)

  • This paper aims to revisit William Faulkner's Absalom, Absalom! by focusing on the corporeal body and its role in dismantling the Southern ideology of white patriarchy. The latter, which is represented by Thomas Sutpen and his attempt to establish a white male dynasty, is a symbolic space in which the corporeal body turns into a symbolic one through the process of inscribing social ideologies on it. However, this symbolic space is also a contending site between the two bodies. The symbolic body of Sutpen cannot entirely erase its corporeal traces, and therefore the corporeal body, which is buried but nonetheless existent, threatens to undermine rules and premises of the symbolic order. Given that, this paper approaches Faulkner's critique of the Southern white patriarchal ideology from the tension that the corporeal body and the symbolic body create. The 'flesh' roughly corresponds to racial and sexual otherness, namely black flesh and the homoerotic desire of male body. Although they-as the matter of race and that of gender - function in different levels of signification, they still share a common purpose in revealing the logical paradox within Sutpen's symbolic order. The idea of pure whiteness that Sutpen subscribes to is a concept that prerequisites the existence of blackness. Likewise, his idea of male homosociality based upon patriarchal legacy stands precariously on the verge of disintegrating into homoetoricism. As internal otherness that Sutpen's symbolic order cannot fully incorporate, the corporeal body functions to indicate the limitation of Sutpen's Design and its body-signification process.

영화 <뷰티플 마인드> 환상인물의 상징의미 (The Symbolic Meaning of the Imaginary Characters in the Movie "Beautiful Mind")

  • 론 하워드 감독의 <뷰티플 마인드>는 세계적인 천재 수학자인 존 내쉬의 삶을 영화화 한 것이다. 주인공 존 내쉬는 환각과 망상이 동반된 정신분열병 환자이고 뚜렷한 3사람의 환상으로 나타난다. 이 3인에 대한 해석이 그동안 연구자들에 의해 서로 다른 주장을 해 왔지만 그 주장이 일관성을 상실하고 있는 부분이 많다. 특히 소녀에 대한 해석이 아예 없거나 늙지 않는 인물이어서 주인공이 환각속의 인물임을 인정하는 것으로 해석하고 있다. 이 영화에서 환상인물을 론 하워드 감독은 많이 알아야 많이 본다는 올더스 헉슬리의 이론을 채용하지는 않았지만 독특한 방법으로 이 인물들에 대한 해석을 해 놓음으로서 관객의 수준에 맞는 해석을 해도 무방하다는 태도이다. 환상인물은 주인공 존 내쉬의 머릿속에서 나온 가상의 인물이며 그가 갈망하고 원하는 인물로 표현된다. 인간의 가장 기본적인 욕망인 물욕, 성욕, 명예욕이 바로 그것이며 명석한 내쉬는 그 세 가지 욕망을 가상의 세계를 통하여 치밀하게 3인을 투영한다. 그 동안 논란이 되어온 3인의 환상의미에 대해서 명쾌하게 해석함으로 영화 속에 등장하는 환상인물들의 상징의미를 새롭게 제시하고자 한다.

의대생과 비의대생의 AIDS 및 성병에 대한 지식 (Medical Students' Knowledge about AIDS/STDs: Comparing with Non-medical Students)

  • 목적: 성적 요구도가 높고 상대적으로 성병에 취약한 인구집단인 대학생들에게 올바른 성지식은 성 관련 질환의 예방에 매우 중요하다. 미래의 의사로서 국민의 건강에 대해 지도자적 역할을 수행해 나갈 의대생의 AIDS 및 성병 관련 지식 정도를 조사하고 문제점을 분석함으로써 성병 예방교육의 중요성을 상기시키고, 이에 따른 예방교육의 기초를 마련하기 위한 목적으로 연구를 시행하였다. 방법: 2004년 3월, 서울 소재 일개 대학교의 의대생 110명과 동 대학 비의과대학생 200명을 대상으로 AIDS 및 성병 관련 지식과 성경험 여부를 묻는 자기기입식의 설문조사를 시행하였다. 결과: 최종 의대생 86명과 비의대학생 59명이 분석에 포함되었는데, 성경험이 있다고 응답한 군은 남성이 여성보다(44.00% vs 7.14%, P<0.001), 의대생이 비의대생보다(36.1% vs 11.9%, P=0.015) 높았다. AIDS 및 성병 관련지식은 총 19문항 중에서 8개 문항의 평균 점수가 두 군 간에 유의한 차이를 보였는데, 그 중 한 개의 문항을 제외한 모든 문항 및 총점에서 의대생의 점수가 높았다(P=0.001). 성경험 유무에 따른 AIDS 및 성병 관련 지식 정도는 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 결론: 의대생들이 비의대생에 비해 AIDS 및 성병에 대한 지식 점수가 높았다. 하지만 AIDS 및 성병에 대한 지식정도와 성경험 여부와는 연관성이 없었다.
