Inheritance of cocoon and shell weight characters in silkworm crosses between sex-limited at larva stage lines, including three (NIG$_{1}$$\times$ TV$_{3/2}$ ,NIG$_{1}$$\times$ TBV$_{2/24}$ and NIG$_{1}$$\times$ B$_{2/6}$ ) from Japanese type and three (NIG$_{2}$$\times$ B$_{2/6}$ ,TV$_{3/2}$$\times$ NIG$_{1}$ and NIG$_{2}$$\times$ TBV$_{2/24}$ ) from Chinese type was studied at Regional Centre for ScientificApplied Service - Vratza during the period of 2000 2002. Inheritance of tested characters in F I was determined through genetic parameters, additiveness (a), dominance (d) and their ratio (d/a). Degree and frequency of transgressions in F$_{2}$ were calculated also. Over dominance (d/a(>) 1) with bigger contribution of the parent with higher value was determined at inheritance tested characters. Transgressions obtained at cocoon and shell weight characters were positive and varied in wide limits. The productivity of parent's lines had defined the variability of genetic parameters for degree and frequency of transgressions. Combination of positive transgressions at cocoon and shell weight characters in F2 hybrid populations from sex-limited at larva stage allow us to select individuals with high productive potential for further use in selection programs.
To investigate suitable breeding system for the improvement of economic characters of the sexlimited dark egg colour strains, the four kinds of breeding methods which are represented as sibmating, repeated backcrossing, multi-backcrossing every other generation, and repeated hybridization were detected from the P to the F6. 1. Pupation ratio was varied between the four kinds of breeding methods and decreased gradually in order of repeated hybridization, mult-backcrossing every other generation and sib-matinv, and repeated backcrossing. 2. Repeated backcrossing, multi-backcrossing every other generation, and repeated hybridization with the exception of sib-mating were consiered as available breeding methods to improve single cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight and cocoon shell ratio of the sex-limited dark egg colour strains. 3. As for the responses of the economic characters form the P to the F6, pupation ratio was fluctuant and unstable, on the other hand single cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight and cocoon shell ratio increased remarkably in the F2, but in the subsequant generatios the increasing rate of each characters were fluctuant irregularly. 4. After the original sex-limited dark egg colour strains were bred under the corresponding breeding methods, from the P to the F6 the economic characters were approached to the level of normal breeding silkworm lines'. 5. It came to the consideration that the autosomal fragment which was translocated on the W chromosome had no physiologically significant effect on the expression of the economic characters because the Expression index (E) of the sex-limited dark egg colour strains was similar to that of normal silkworm lines. 6. From the results, it comes to the conclusion that the useful breeding methods to improve the economic characters of the sex-limited dark egg colour strains will be a line separation including fixation of the characters.
Because of the sex-gender differences that are shown in a diversity of physiological and psychological factors, it can be speculated that the clinical presentation of symptoms as well as treatment strategies in women and men with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) may differ. Studies have revealed that IBS is more common in women than men. As for the IBS subtype, IBS with constipation is significantly more prevalent among women than men. Sex hormones and gender differences may play important roles in the pathophysiology of IBS. However, its pathophysiologic mechanisms still remain largely unknown, and therapeutic implications are limited. Moreover, women IBS patients have been reported to feel more fatigue, depression, anxiety, and lower quality of life than men IBS patients. Furthermore, there has been evidence of differences in the appropriate treatment efficacy to IBS in men and women, although relatively few men are enrolled in most relevant clinical trials. A more sex-gender-oriented approach in the medical care setting could improve understanding of heterogeneous patients suffering from IBS. An individualized and multicomponent approach including sex and gender issues might help improve the treatment of IBS.

Normally, silkworms, Bombyx mori, generate offspring by sexual activity. As we known, the hybrids of the first generation of the silkworm have higher cocoon production than pure lines. During the sericulture production, many processes are related with sex control. For example, sex sorting in the egg grainages, rearing of only male silkworm to save the mulberry leaf consumption and increase silk output and quality. Therefore it is very interested in understanding the sex control of the silkworm in theory and practice. Chinese sericultural scientists have been being engaged in the researches in the fields of artificifial parthogenesis, dispermic androgenesis, sex-limited varieties, sex linkage balanced lethal strain and high temperature sensitive male stocks for several decades and gained substantial achievement. Some of the achievements have been used in the commercial production. In this review, the authors introduced that the methods for control of the silkworm sex, and regulate the silkworm sex ratio according to different producing aim in the world and especially in China.
The sex of bivalves is classified into gonochorism and hermaphroditism, and hermaphroditism is further divided into simultaneous (synchronous or functional), and sequential (asynchronous). The sequential hermaphroditism signifies sex reversal in accordance with seasons. In general, in the case of gonochoristic bivalves, manifestation of sex as female and male, after having identified the morphological sex, is limited to a period of the life cycle in any given individual. In order to accurately identify sex, continuous monitoring of changes in the sex during life cycle is necessary by tagging the sex. In the bivalves, sex reversal and sequential hermaphroditism has been reported in the Ostreidae, Pectinidae, Veneridae and Arcidae etc.. Most of these studies have reached this conclusion based on evidence derived from sex ratio change in accordance with the age within same populations. Sex change in the sequential hermaphroditic bivalves normally occurs when the gonad is undifferentiated between spawning seasons. Two factors are involved in sex determination and sex change in bivalves, namely genetic and environmental. However, more detailed research is needed on the effect of the genetic and environmental factors involved in sex determination and sex change of bivalves.

All of the commercial silkworm races spread to farmhouses are hybrid of first generation, therefore distinction of sex of parent races is essential. But the existing sexual method which distinguish sex by outer sexual characteristics have many problems such as need of skilled worker and excessive efforts for distinction of sex. So more simple and accurate method fur distinction of sex is needed. (omitted)

To evolve silkworm hybrids with higher survival and productivity and easy and effective seed cocoon production, three new evolved bivoltine hybrids of silkworm (Bombyx mori L.), created with participation of sex-limited lines at eggs and larva stage were evaluated with control Super$_1$${\times}$Hessa$_2$ hybrid at Plovdiv Agrarian University during 2000 - 2002. ANOVA analysis was employed and the performance of hybrids was observed in respect of main quantitative traits. The results obtained show significant superiority of new hybrids T$_{15}$ 4/${\times}$TBV$_{2}$24/, XT$_{215}$38/${\times}$TV$_{3}$2/, XT$_{215}$38/${\times}$B$_{2}$6/ and their reciprocal crosses over the control. They were characterized with 99% hatchability of eggs, 93-95% silkworm survival, 2.32- 2.42 g cocoon weight, 53.5-55.7 cg shell weight, 22.9-23.1% shell ratio, 1,307-1,326 m filament length, 3.08-3.17 denier, 95-96% reelability, 44.4-45.1% silk ratio, 569-593 number of normal eggs per lying and 347-364 mg weight of normal eggs per lying. Newly evolved hybrids were manifested high productivity, 41.0-43.6 kg cocoon yield and 7.33-7.78 kg raw silk yield per one box (20,000$\pm$200 viable eggs), which significant surpass the control Super$_1$${\times}$Hessa$_2$ hybrid with 7.6-14.4% and 10.8-17.6%, respectively. T$_{15}$ 4/${\times}$TBV$_{2}$24/ and XT$_{215}$38/${\times}$TV$_{3}$2/ were considered as highly productive hybrids to local conditions and found suitable to rear in spring season.n.
This experiment was carried out to obtain a marked larvae in sex-limited inheritance, using F$_1$ hybrid Bo ok X Chun san introduced from Japan. Sequence of backcrossing has been done through the earlier generation with a recessive character of plain marked larvae. 1. It is noted that genotypic segregation of sex-limited larval marking was observed in F$_4$ generation; female possesses larval marking and male shows a plain marking. 2. Larval marking heredity follows a diagram of segregation with an expected genotype such as ♀ : (W$.$+p)/Z$.$P/P and ♂ : Z/Z$.$P/P. 3. It is observed that dissociation was occurred to produce female with a genotype of W/Z$.$P/P in segregation ana selection. 4. Abnormal ratio of sexuality is observed in the course of segregation and segregation and analysis of it is continuously under way. 5, It is observed that the difference of qualitative characteristics between female and male obtained from the original variety shows the same tendency as the normal marked variety.
Background: Although warm-ups before exercise are widely accepted, research on sex differences in improving hamstring flexibility is limited. Differences in the physical and physiological characteristics between males and females may result in different responses to warm-ups. Objects: This study aimed to examine sex differences in the effects of specific warm-up on hamstring flexibility. Methods: This study included 24 young adults with hamstring tightness. The participants performed five maximal knee extensions and flexions at 90° flexion of the hip, and the maximal knee extension angle was measured in real-time using a smartphone clinometer application. Results: The groups did not significantly affect the maximal knee extension angle but showed a significant effect for repetition (p = 0.002) and group-repetition interaction (p = 0.002). Males had no significant change in hamstring flexibility; however, females showed a significant increase in flexibility in the 5th trial compared with the 1st trial (p = 0.041). These results demonstrated sex-specific differences in flexibility improvement over time. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that specific warm-up can successfully improve hamstring flexibility in females. This may be due to various factors, such as muscle stiffness of the lower extremity, estrogen levels, and temperature sensitivity. In clinical settings, specific warm-up might be helpful for females who participate in sports or activities, such as running or jumping, which require a full range of motion in the hip and knee joints.
