This study developed an automatic tool change system of the SMA-based tool clamping device for applications of micro-machine tools. This paper first describes clamping and unclamping procedures of the automatic tool change system and its basic configuration. Second, it presents fabrication techniques of components, such as a heating/cooling system and a tool loader. Finally, it describes automatic tool change test conducted with a prototype in which the fabrication techniques of components were employed. As the results of the test, times needed for clamping and unclamping operations were estimated to 18(s) and 8(s) respectively. The experimental results confirm that the proposed automatic tool change system can be sucessfully applied to micro-machine tools.

The characteristics of cell growth and cellulose production by Acetobcter xylinum BRC5 were studied in shaking flasks and jar fermentors. Of the substrates tested, the highest cellulose yield was obtained from the fructose medium. Some inductive cultivation was observed and then cellulose was produced with cell growth. When glucose alone or mixture of glucose and fructose was used as the carbon source, cellulose could be biosynthesized under the glucose limitation. Corn steep liquor (CSL), as a low-cost nitrogen source, was a good substitute for yeast extract. In a jar fermentor experiment, 4.14 g/l of disintegrated cellulose was obtained from 8% CSL- medium containing 0.5% glucose and 1.5% fructose.

This paper demonstrates a comparison of linear and nonlinear analyses for thermo-optic effects of optical temperature sensor based on the etched silica-based planar waveguide Bragg grating. Topics include theoretical analyses and experiment of the etched planar waveguide Bragg grating optical temperature sensor. Theoretical models with nonlinear than linear temperature effect for the grating response based on waveguide and plate deformation theories agree with experiments to within acceptable tolerance.

The decommissioning project of the KRR 1 & 2 was started in January 1997. The actual decommissioning activity was started at the RI production facility and was finished at the end of 2002. The dismantling works of all components including the reactor structure of the KRR-2 was started in January, 2003 and will be carried out for 2 years till the end of 2004. The project schedule is estimated to delay for 4∼5 months beyond the original plan because of delaying on the cutting of thermal column nose and removal of the graphite bricks, but it may be caught up during the removal working of concrete from biological shielding structure. This paper summarizes the general status of the KRR 1 & 2 and decommissioning activities.

원자력시설의 해체를 수행하는데 있어서 해체 대상 시설의 성격을 파악하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 해체 대상 원자력시설의 특성 자료 조사 결과는 해체 시 발생되는 폐기물의 양을 예측하고, 해체사업의 비용 산정에 크게 활용이 되며, 특성들의 그루핑을 통하여 일련의 예측 활동에서 훈련 집합으로 사용될 수 있다. 이를 목적으로 해체사업 대상 시설의 특성자료를 관리하는 시스템, DEFACS(DEcommissioning FAcility Characterization DB System)를 개발하였다. 이는 웹브라우저상에서 동작하며, 크게 특성에 따른 데이터의 입출력, 가공처리 등의 기능을 수행한다.

In order to avoid the electrical fire, AFCI(Arc Fault Cirruit Interrupter) has been obligated to be adopted in the United States of America since 2002. AFCI using line resistor of neutral trace needs to compensate the variation of the line resistance by temperature variation. In this paper, the ASIC including the temperature compensation circuit is implemented. The proposed implementation is verified by showing the effectiveness of an electric and a temperature characteristics for Arc signals by simulation results.

A numerical investigation using a commercial CFD program of the Inter-Phase Slip Algorithm has been carried out for detail characteristics of particle motions and bubble behaviors in a two dimensional fluidized bed. The bed simulated has been operated with three different distributor geometries, such as bubble cap, nozzle, and perforated plate types. Experiments using a slit-type two-dimensional fluidized bed and a cylinder-type fluidized bed have been performed in order to confirm the simulation model. In addition, the numerical results are compared with the wellknown correlation of bubble sizes and bubble rising velocities by Mori and Wen [1]. The simulation model that we applied is shown to be useful to understand the relation between bubble behaviors and distributor geometries.

최근 우리나라 사회가 고령화로 진행함에 따라 노인성 질환인 치매 환자가 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 치매를 진단하기 위한 방법으로는 뇌 MR 영상을 사용하여 치매에 의해 영향을 받는 특정 뇌 영역인 해마의 위축률을 기반으로 진단 할 수 있다는 보고가 있다. 본 연구에서는 치매 환자 위한 보조적 판별 시스템 개발의 예비 연구로써 뇌 MR 영상 데이터를 3차원으로 가시화하는 것이 목적이며, 최근 대용량으로 획득되는 MR 영상을 고속으로 처리하기 위하여 CUDA를 사용한 병렬 컴퓨팅 구축을 하고 FPS(Frame Per Second)를 측정하여 유용성을 평가하고자 한다.

최근 3차원 의료기기의 발전으로 대용량의 영상 획득이 가능해짐에 따라 이를 신속하게 처리 하고자 하는 연구가 진행되고 있다. CUDA는 그래픽 연산을 위해 제작된 GPU를 일반 연산에 사용(GPGPU)하고자 나온 툴킷(Toolkit)으로, 이를 사용하면 대용량의 영상 데이터를 병렬로 신속하게 처리할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 3차원 의료 영상의 개선을 병렬로 신속하게 처리하기 위하여 CUDA를 사용한 방법론을 제안하였다. 또한, GPU Timer를 사용한 시간 측정을 통해 우수성을 증명하고자 한다.

The IEEE 802.16 wireless metropolitan area network (WMAN) standard is designed to correct expensive communication costs in CDMA-based mobile communication systems and limited coverage problems in wireless LAN systems. Thus, the IEEE 802.16e standard can provide mobile high-speed packet access between mobile stations and the Internet service provider through the base station with cheap communication fees. To efficiently accommodate voice over IP (VoIP) services in IEEE 802.16 systems, an uplink quality of service packet-scheduling scheme is proposed, and its performance is evaluated with an NS-2 network simulator in this paper. Numerical results show that this proposed scheme can increase the system capacity by 100% more than in the unsolicited rand service (UGS) scheme and 30% more than the extended real-time polling service (ertPS) scheme, respectively.
