연속 회분식 반응기를 이용한 폐수처리에서 고정화 슬러지의 거동 특성 (The behavior characteristics of immobilized sludge in waste water treatment using sequencing batch reactor(SBR).)

  • The behavior of total organic carbon (TOC) and phosphate were observed for 15 days with immobilized activated sludge using polyacrylamide (PAA) by sequencing batch reactor (SBR). In the preparation of immobilized sludge by PAA, it was found that suitable acrylamide concentration for actual wastewater treatment was to be 15% through the batch test. When SBR system was operated in the repeated aerobic and anaerobic conditions, TOC removal efficiency was 92%. The uptake rate of phosphate was increased from 1.78 mg-P/g cell/hr on the 5th day of acclimation to 2.5 mg-P/g cell/hr on the 15th day of acclimation. And the total phosphorus content in PAA bead was increased from 40 mg-P/g cell on the 1st day of operation to 55 mg-P/g cell on the 15th day of operation. From this study, lowering the volume of aeration tank was possible when PAA bead was used in wastewater treatment and long operation was also possible without the settler.

응집성 Saccharomyces cerevisiae CA-1에 의한 에탄올 연속발효 (Continuous Ethanol Fermentation in Air-lift Reactor by Flocculent Saccharomyces cerevisiae CA-1)

  • Using a flocculating Saccharomyes cerevisiae CA-1, an air-lift reactor equipped with a modified settler was used for ethanol fermentation. The effects of conditions such as aeration rate, initial glucose concentration, and dilution rate were studied using the air-lift reactor. In batch fermentation, optimum aeration rate was 0.5 vvm. In continuous fermentation, aeration rate and initial pH were fixed 0.5 vvm and 4.5, substrate concentration and dillution rate were changed 10-15% and 0.1-1.3. The maximum ethanol productivity was shown to be 20.4 g/l$\cdot $h in 10% glucose and 0.7 h$^{-1}$ dilution rate., and optimum operation condition considering the ethanol productivity and glucose utilization ratio was 0.5 h$^{-1}$ dilution rate in 10% glucose concentration.

  • Polythylene glycol/dextran 수성 2단계에서 polyethylene glycol의분자량과 농도가 증가할수록 체적비는 증가하고 분배계수는 감소하였다. 또한 dextran의 분자량이 증가할 수록 체적비는 감소하고 분배계수는 증가하였다. 한편 dextran의 농도가 증가할수록 체적비와 분배계수는 감소하였다.

Naturalized Women: Ecofeminism in Toni Morrison's A Mercy

  • Toni Morrison's A Mercy (2008) describes Jacob Vaark, an early settler from England, and his grand house that symbolizes the American Dream in the 1680s. The source of his success is colonialism and slavery, as revealed by four female characters-a white Englishwoman Rebekka and three non-white women Florens, Sorrow, and Lina. Analyzing how the novel compares the women's experiences with nature and natural objects, this paper draws on ecofeminism as a theoretical frame of analysis to examine the novel's hitherto overlooked representations of naturalized women and feminized nature. The paper analyzes how the novel represents oppressions and exploitations of the four women in relation to nature that is similarly appropriated and developed by European men. The paper maintains that the novel does not represent these "naturalized" women as powerless and passive but portrays them as growing characters who resist patriarchy, colonialism, and capitalism.

Chitosan 응집제를 이용한 준설토 부유물질 처리 (Treatment of Dredging Suspended Solids Using Chitosan Coagulant)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 하천, 호수의 준설 시에 발생하는 준설토 사토장에 저류된 부유물질을 hydrocyclone을 이용하여 모래입자를 분리하고, 부유미세입자 및 오염물질을 처리하기 위해 키토산 응집제를 이용하여 고속 응집과 침전이 가능한 IDFIS 시스템을 개발함에 있다. 응집교반실험 결과 키토산 주입농도는 하천퇴적물질의 경우 40 mg/L, 터널굴착 퇴적물질의 경우 5 mg/L에서 잔류탁도는 5 NTU 이하를 나타내었다. 키토산응집제는 응집, 응결조건에 pH 영향이 거의 없으므로 처리장치 운전의 용이성에 기여할 것으로 판단된다. IDFIS장치를 이용하여 황토입자, 하천퇴적물질, 하천부유사 퇴적물질, 터널굴착 퇴적물을 대상으로 제거특성을 분석한 결과 전반적인 평균 처리효율은 탁도 98%, SS 99%, COD 85%, TP 95%를 나타내었다. 키토산응집제는 다양한 탁도 범위에서도 입자물질의 제거에 매우 효과적인 것으로 분석되었다. IDFIS장치는 키토산응집제로 빠르게 형성된 플럭을 높은 수면적부하율로 처리 가능하여 집적화된 처리장치로서 활용도가 높을 것으로 판단된다.

Biofilm으로 충전된 단일 Column을 이용한 폐수의 질산화/탈질산화 공정 연구 (Nitrification/Denitrification of Wastewater in one Column containing Biofilm)

  • This study investigated possibility of the nitrification and denitrification in one counter-current column with the growth of biofilm attached to its media. This experiment was performed through use of the lab scale reactor composed of the column and settler. The column used was packed with the small size of plastic rings called PALL($1.5{\times}1.5{\;}cm$) with a cylindrical shape. Synthetic wastewater was used in the experiment. The loading rates of carbon (C) and total nitrogen (TN) furnished to the reactor were 0.23 to 1.0 kg COD/m3.d and 0.023 to 1.0 kg N/m3.d, respectively. Major factors controlling the removal efficiencies of COD and TN were the different air flux and volumetric loading rates of COD and TN. The experimental results obtained from this study demonstrated that the removal efficiencies of COD ranged from 90 to 95% and those of TN were from 80 to 83% under the N loading rate of 0.035 and $0.058{\;}kg{\;}N/m^3{\cdot}d$, respectively. The patterns of TN removed were distinctively different on the limit of 50cm of column in depth. This indicated that the nitrification and denitrification occurred near the surface zone of and inside the biofilm respectively, upto the 50cm of the column in depth.

정수 및 하수처리공정 중 침전지 부착조류 및 미생물 군집구조 해석 (Analysis of Attached Algae and Microbial Community Structure in Sedimentation Basin of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate community structure of attached algae and microbes in sedimentation basin of water and wastewater treatment plants by using respiratory quinone profile. There was an evident difference, in microbial community structure and attached algae species, between inclination plate settler and drainage canal in the sedimentation basin. The algae was composed of species in following order; Chlorophyceae>Bascillariophyceae>Cyanophyceae. The dominant quinone types of attached microorganisms in the wastewater treatment plant were plastoquinone (PQ)-9, vitamin(V)K-1 followed by UQ-8, but those for water treatment plant were VK-1, PQ-9 followed by UQ-8. These results suggests that nutrients, seasons and material of sedimentation basin have notable influence on composition of attached algae and microbial community structure in water and wastewater treatment plants.

유목문화 기후변화 적응의 역동성과 그 함의 (Dynamic Climate Change Adaptation in Nomadic Lifestyle and its Implications)

  • 중앙아시아지역의 기후변화적응 이슈를 유목문화의 역동성 측면에서 접근하고 있으며 이를 통해 중앙아시아 지역의 기후변화특성에 적응하는 개도국 기후변화 정책수립 이슈를 다루고 있다. 건조하면서도 혹한과 혹서가 반복되는 중앙아시아 지역의 기후특성은 지구촌 어떤 곳보다 기후변화로 인해 심각한 영향을 받고 있다는 문제의식에서 출발하고 있다. 기후변화 영향에 적응하는 유목문화적 역동성(dynamics) 요소를 수자원(water resource), 가축(livestock), 초원(pastureland)을 중심으로 살펴보고 있으며 유목민의 문화적, 기후적 특성에 기초한 적응정책을 탐색하고 있다. 아울러 기후변화 영향 및 적응에 있어서 중앙아시아 지역의 유목문화적 특성이 갖는 이중적 의미로, 오랜 기간 잦은 이동과 새로운 환경에 적응해온 유목민들의 라이프 스타일이 기후변화에 있어서도 우수한 적응 잠재 능력을 발휘할 수 있음에도 주목하고 있다.

균체재순환 및 동시당화발효에 의한 전분으로 부터의 반회분식 에탄올 발효 (Semibatch Ethanol Production from Starch by Simultaneous Saccharification and Fermentation Using Cell Recycle)

  • 전분으로 부터 에탄올을 생산하기 위한 경제적인 공정을 개발하기 위하여 Zymomonas mobilis와 당화효소(AMG)를 사용한 반 회분식 동시 당화 발효공정올 연구 하였다. 응집성 에탄올 균주인 Z. mobilis ZM40l과 침전조를 사용한 균체 재순환 방식에 의한 반회분식 동시 당화발효 공정에서는 에탄올 생산성이 제2차 및 제3차 발효에서 각각 4.1g / I / h 및 4.3 g / I / h이었다. 이에 비해 미세여과막(microfiltration) 장치에 의한 Z. mobilis ZM4의 재순환 방식을 사용하는 공정에서는 에탄올 생산성이 제2차 및 제3차 발효에서 모두 5.4 g / l / h로 더 높았다. 에탄올 생산 시설이 large-seale임을 고려할 때 미세여과막을 사용하는 반회분식 공정이 에탄올 생산성과 seale-up의 용이성 및 운전의 간편성등의 관점에서 가장 개발 가능성이 높은 공정인 것으로 판단되었다.

신선영(Sun Yung Shin) 문학 연구 (A Study on Sun Yung Shin's Literature)

  • Sung Yung Shin was adopted as a Korean infant to an American family. She is now one of the most important writers in Asian American literary field. This paper analyzes the characteristics of her literature, focusing on Skirt full of Black (poetry)and Cooper's Lesson(children's book). Sun Yung Shin uses collage in Skirt full of Black as an effective rhetorical device because it can express her experience as an adopted other in the multicultural American society. She rewrites the fairy tale of Swan Prince in the viewpoint of silence. For a yellow Asian adopted woman, speaking is suppressed. In the end, the attempt to escape from silence is the writer's resisting activity, and the rewriting of the tale is her questioning in place of the princess. I analyses Cooper's Lesson in the viewpoint of transcultural assimilation. Cooper's lesson is accomplished not by his white father but by a Korean settler, Mr. Lee. Cooper's family is a hybrid composed of white American father, Korean mother, and their half son. So this family has many complicated difficulties, though it's small. Mr. Lee who accepted a new language to establish a new identity teaches Cooper the importance of cultural assimilation, which is not a one-sided integration to dominant culture but an intercultural communion while sustaining each culture's singularity. Cooper learns that he should live in an harmonious and balanced life in a multi-cultural society while keeping his own subjective point of view.
