  • In this paper, we propose a modified Ziegler-Nichols PID controller using the fuzzy logic system. The proposed method is to parameterize a Ziegler-Nichols formula with a single parameter, and use the fuzzy logic system for automatic tuning of a single parameter of the modified Ziegler-Nichols formula. The fuzzy logic system has simple nine control rules. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we simulated with the servo system. Simulation results demonstrate that better control performance can be achieved when compared with that of the Ziegler-Nichols PID controller.

  • In this thesis. the application of the synchronizing control of the intelligent indoor lift system is showed. The separate axes of the indoor lift system are driven independently. PID controller, synchronous flexible logic compensating method and tilt sensor are applied to enhance the performance of the intelligent indoor lift system. the tilt sensor senses the horizontal error of the whole system. PID controller and synchronous flexible logic are used to compensate the synchronous errors of both the separate axes and whole system to be zero. Namely, using not the hardware coupling but the software algorithm. the indoor life system is operated without the error. Before applying the real system, the simulation using matlab testifies the possibility of the lift system. And the realization of the system is demonstrated with two DC servo motors. In the experiment test, flexible logic to compensate the synchronous error is chosen by the comparative method. the indoor lift system has to be considered the loading factor as the disturbance. Because the intelligent indoor lift system is developed to support the patients who don't change for themselves to move. finally, the system which considers the weight of the patient as the disturbance can carry the patients safely without synchronous and position error.

  • We developed a visual system that is able to track the moving objects within a certain range of errors. The visual system is driven by two DC servo motors that are controlled by a computer based on the visual data obtained from a CCD video camera. The software to track the moving objects is developed based on the PWM of the DC motors. Also, the problems how to implement a fuzzy logic control method and a neural network in this system, are also considered in order to check the control performance of tracking. The fuzzy logic algorithm is a powerful control technique for nonlinear dynamical system and also the neural network could be implemented in this system. In this paper, we present configuration of tracking system developed in our laboratory, the control methods of the visual system and the experimental results are shown.

  • This paper proposes the adaptive fuzzy control system using the microprocessesor for high precision control of automation systems which exist non-linearities such as saturation, relays, hysteresis, and dead zones. The proposed system which provides the improvement in terms of the control region in transient and adaptive control, first used the frequence-locked mothed driving a system to generate a output voltage proportional to the frequency diffierence of relnence input signal and feedback signal for fast transient response,, and when the error reaches the preset value, used the adaptive fuzzy logic for precision control. The theoretical and experimental studies have been carried out. The presented results from the above investigation show considerable improved performance in the precision control of servo control systems.

  • This paper presents a scaling factor tuning method to improve the performance of fuzzy logic controller. Tuning rules and reasoning are utilized off-line to determine the scaling factors based on absolute value of the error and its difference. In this paper We proposed a new method to generate fuzzy logic controllers throught genetic algorithm. The developed approach is subsequently applied to the design of proportional plus integral type fuzzy controller for a dc-servo motor control system. The performance of this control system is demonstrated higher than a conventional fuzzy logic controller(FLC).

  • Design of fuzzy logic controllers encounters difficulties in the selection of optimized membership function and fuzzy rule base, which is traditionally achieved by tedious trial-and-error process. In this paper We proposed a new method to generate fuzzy logic controllers throught genetic algorithm(GA). The controller design space is coded in base-7 strings chromosomes, where each bit gene matches the 7 discrete fuzzy value. The developed approach is subsequently applied to the design of proportional plus integral type fuzzy controller for a do-servo motor control system. It was presented in discrete fuzzy linguistic value, and used a membership function with Gaussian curve. The performance of this control system is demonstrated higher than that of a conventional PID controller and fuzzy logic controller(FLC).

  • In this paper, the author proposed FLVSC(Fuzzy Logic Variable Structure Controller), of which control rules are extracted from the concepts of VSC(Variable Structure Control). FLC(Fuzzy Logic Controller) based on linguistic rules has the advantages of not needing of some exact mathematical model for plant to be controlled. The proposed method has the characteristics which are viewed in conventional VSC, e.g. insensitivity to a class of disturbances, parameter variations and uncertainties in sliding mode. In addition, the method has the properties of FLC - noise rejection capability etc. The computer simulations have been carried out for a DC servo motor to show the usefulness of the proposed method and the effects of disturbances and parameter variations are considered.

  • A systematic procedure to design fuzzy PID controllers is developed in this paper. The concept of local fuzzy control cell is proposed by introducing both an adequate global control rule and membership functions to simplify a fuzzy logic controller. Fuzzy decision is made by using algebraic product and parallel firing arithematic mean, and a defuzzification strategy is adopted for improving the computational efficiency based on nonfuzzy micro-processor. A direct method, transforming the typical output of quasi-linear fuzzy operator to the digital compensator of PID form, is also proposed. Finally, the proposed algorithm is applied to an DC-servo motor. It is found that this algorithm is systematic and robust through computer simulations and implementation of controller using Intel 8097 micro-processor.

  • The Sliding Mode Control of Variable Structure System is applied to robot manipulators or servo system for its merits of robustness to variable system parameters and disturbances. But Switching frequency of control input is excessively high during sliding mode operation. In this paper, a new control algorithm usings fuzzy logic is proposed to solve this problem. With the proposed algorithm, a dc motor speed control system has been simulated and the result shows expected performances.
