서비스화 수용활동이 서비스화 추진성과에 미치는 영향 : 서비스 프로세스 역량과 ICT 역량의 매개적 역할 (The Effects of Servitization Acceptance on Performance through Mediation of Service Process & ICT Competency)

  • The purpose if this study was to find and investigate effective mediation factors influencing performance of servitization through servitization acceptance activities by means of empirical results. According to the previous researches, two main mediation factors which were related with servitization competencies such as ICT competency of servitization and competency of servitization process were distinguished from lots of competencies which are relying on servitization process. Using a 373 sample data investigated from CEOs, directors and managers of small and medium sized firms in Korea, the structured mediation model was proposed. The measurement for the each variable was accepted for this study when the respondents were revealed to understand the servitization concepts which explained especially company's business moving towards the service specific gravity from selling existing products. The measurement for the each variable reflected that respondents were participating in any sort of servitization type or had intension to be involved with any servitization categories. The mediation hypotheses were tested in the way of analytical measures with the result of strong reliability. According to analysis, two mediators showed positive mediation role and statistically adopted between servitization acceptance activities and servitization performance in the 99% significant level. We confirmed that ICT competency of servitization and competency of servitization process were in the role of positive mediation between servitization acceptance activities and performance of servitization. The total of indirect effects were 0.2546 to support each mediation hypotheses. Tested two mediators were not on the same level. The most affecting mediation element on servitization performance was appeared as competency of servitization process. With the result of this study, we expect that the small and medium sized companies might have servitization business strategies including proper service competencies and mediators through acceptance activities to obtain suitable performance. According to the analysis, Companies which consider product-servitization need to set strategies to reinforce above two competencies.

  • As the technological gap amongst manufacturers decreases, the life cycle of products has shortened, and competition accelerates due to the development of technology, incumbent manufacturing companies face growth limitations. In order to overcome such business issues, manufacturing companies are increasingly interested in changes in business models and innovations, especially in the direction of providing services where they can maintain the competitive advantage of their products. In such context, this empirical study examines managerial leadership, differentiation strategies, and products and services pricing as 'servitization factors', which can be driving forces for moving into a new era of growth for Korean SMEs, focusing on the mediating effects of servitization competency. The results are as follows : First, it was confirmed that executive leadership, differentiation strategy, and information & communication technology capability have a direct effect on service sales. Second, the process competency, partnership competency, and ICT competency, which are presented as the service competence of SMEs, were found to play an important role in inducing service sales in managerial leadership, differentiation strategy, product and services pricing. It also emphasized the role of the public policy such as helping to foster SMEs as key partners in the expansion of social facilities and establishing platforms through ICT and data utilization for the convergence of manufacturing services.

유사 기업사례를 통한 서비스화 벤치마크 모델 (The Benchmark Model of Servitization through Similar Company Cases)

  • Research in the Servitization of Manufacturing has become focused more on cases than concepts over the past decade. This is because governments have emphasized some practical research with policies to support their industries. Manufacturers need differentiated strategies to gain competitiveness by servitization in the global market. They should examine how common servitization has become in the same industries and markets. They should also make sure how it works and for what purpose it is done since it is necessary to make the best decision to be able to distribute the limited resources most effectively to defeat the global competitors. South Korea has the sixth largest trade volume in the world, but Korean SMEs' marketing capabilities fall short compared to that of major global companies. This paper seeks to develop the proper model and its application for the servitization with global cases which are recommended for Korean SMEs. They need to check the urgency in servitization according to their products, industries and target markets. In addition, factors such as purposes, time and types of the servitization are examined to see how they are related each other. The most significant implication of this study is that the processes for early-stage companies in servitazation are modeled to help them make the best choices.

디지털 전환 시대의 새로운 품질 차원 적용 사례연구 (How to Apply the New Quality Dimensions to the New Business in the Digital Transformation Era?)

  • Purpose: In recent years, several new attempts have been made to offer products and services based on servitization and customization for comparative advantage and customer satisfaction. Apparently, these attempts are empowered by new digital technologies. Therefore, this study aims to present new business cases with features of digital transformation era in Korea on the perspective of new quality dimensions. Methods: The study approaches the subject by presenting a number of recent business cases in multiple fields in Korea. All cases are analyzed and compared with "10 Quality Dimensions" and several related implications such as servitization, customization, digitalization and differentiated value. Results: The results of this study are as follows; the common core quality dimensions of case are customization, aesthetic and convenience. Furthermore, the critical role of technology is deduced as the core quality dimensions are built on new digital technologies. Lastly, businesses in the age of digital transformation must focus on the core performance of their products and services for customer satisfaction while delivering new core quality dimensions. Conclusion: Recent digital technologies are capable to realize servitization and empower companies to provide differentiated and customized products, services, and experience to their customers. However, it is significant to retain other factors for customer satisfactions rather than customization.

Integration of Products and Services of Korean Firms and Innovation Policy Directions

  • The integration of products and services is being expanded in both manufacturing and service companies such as in Apple's iPod & iTunes, Amazon's Kindle, and Hyundai Motor Company's Mozen. This phenomenon has recently accelerated due to multiple factors including market change, lessening of differences in quality of products or services, the paradigm of participation and sharing, and deindustrialization and evolution toward becoming a service economy. The objective of this paper is to investigate and analyze the status and characteristics of integration of products and services in Korean firms and to suggest policy directions promoting this integration. Towards this purpose, income statements from the Korea Listed Companies Association (KLCA) database of companies listed on the Korea Stock Exchange are analyzed regarding the servitization of manufacturing firms as well as the productization of service firms. In addition, this research investigates the Korean Innovation Survey 2011 database for the service sector and 2010 database for the manufacturing sector in order to evaluate R&D activity in each. In the manufacturing sector, the average ratio of service sales (servitization) was low at 0.208, with bias in the level and distribution of ratios associated with the manufacturing sector. 18 out of a total of 23 sectors (78%) have low servitization, showing there's a long way to go for servitization in the Korean manufacturing sector. In the service sector, the average ratio of product sales (productization) was 9.53%, which is relatively high compared to that of the manufacturing sector. However, the distribution of ratios is also biased, as with the manufacturing sector. Based on this analysis, policy directions are proposed in terms of 1) R&D, 2) concept boost, 3) R&D result spread, 4) statistics, 5) infrastructure and 6) green growth.

구독경제 이용 만족도 및 지속 이용 의도에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Affecting Satisfaction and Continuous Use Intention of Subscription Economy)

  • 4차산업혁명의 진전과 코로나19 팬데믹으로 인하여 구독경제가 급격히 확산 되고 있다. 특히 제품의 서비스화가 진전되면서 구독경제는 더욱 확대될 것으로 보인다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 구독경제의 확산을 위해 소비자 관점에서 이를 촉진하는 요인과 방해하는 요인에 대해 실증적으로 분석하고자 했다. 이를 위해 품질에서 만족, 충성도, 성과로 이어지는 매커니즘을 밝힌 SPC(Service Profit Chain) 모델을 토대로 혜택 요인과 희생 요인을 함께 다루고 있는 VAM(Value-based Adoption Model)의 framework을 결합하여 연구 모형을 도출하였다. 혜택 요인으로 유용성과 편의성을, 희생 요인으로 인지된 위험과 인지된 비용을 도출하였다. 이러한 요인들이 이용 만족도와 지속 이용 의도에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 실증 분석을 위해 구독경제 이용 경험이 있는 사람들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 유효한 300부를 분석하였다. 분석은 AMOS 24를 활용하여 구조방정식으로 하였다. 실증 분석 결과 편의성은 이용 만족도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 인지된 위험과 인지된 비용은 이용 만족도에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 반면, 유용성은 이용 만족도에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이용 만족도에 영향을 미치는 영향력의 크기는 인지된 비용, 편의성, 인지된 위험 순이었다. 이용 만족도는 지속 이용 의도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 학술적인 차원에서 기존의 검정된 모형을 결합하여 그 유효성을 검정하므로서 연구의 지평을 넓혔고, 실무적 차원에서는 인지된 비용이 여전히 중요한 요인임을 검정하였다는 점에서 의의가 있는 것으로 사료 된다.

제조기업의 시장지향성이 품질경영활동과 경영성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effects of the Manufacturer's Market Orientation on Quality Management activity and Business Performance)

  • Purpose - The market orientation of a manufacturer is a very critical competitive advantage factor in the development of new markets and the sustainability and maintenance of existing ones, achieved through the design of customer-oriented products. This is recognized as a virtuous circle, in which firms grow by means of promoting quality management. However, though market-oriented activities are important in management and operations, they seem to be promoted mainly by large-scale enterprises rather than by small- and medium-scale firms, the latter having invested relatively few company resources. Furthermore, few studies and analyses have examined how market orientation relates to the expansion of quality programs within organizations or with business performance; the market orientation and customer-orientation concepts are mixed together when both are used in research. Given the current market situation in which the servitization of manufacturing firms is rapidly expanding, this study's analysis of the effect on market orientation of manufacturers is a significant contribution. From this perspective, this study has several objectives. First, is to analyze and suggest the relationship between market orientation and quality management activity for manufacturers, focusing on three sub-activities: products, process, and quality management activities. Second, it is intended to identify correlation between manufacturers' market oriented activity and their management performance and then to analyze how market orientation affects business performance. The results of a number of prior studies on the correlation between market orientation and management performance have indicated that market orientation does affect management performance. Third, this study also investigates whether any differences in the relationship among market orientation, quality management activity and business performance occur according to company size. The results are used to present operational suggestions for large- and small- and medium-size firms. Research design, data, methodology - This study seeks to analyze and identify the causal features of the organic relationship among market orientation, quality management, and management performance for Korean manufacturing companies using three years (2005-2007) of market orientation, quality management, and business performance data. Subsequently, structural equation modeling was used to analyze the causal features of related factors and it aims to identify the features of market orientation, quality management, and business performance. Results - The analysis examined how market orientation affected the quality management and management performance of 159 smalland medium-size companies. In particular, enterprise quality management was analyzed in relation to management performance with a focus on activities such as leadership, measurement and improvement, quality control, cost management, and process management. Conclusions - The result of the analysis show that market orientation significantly affected all of the quality management activities and that market orientation in turn significantly affected organizational performance. The result of analysis indicate that quality management activities have a significant effect on quality control and cost management.

Product-Service System(PSS) 성공과 실패요인에 관한 탐색적 사례 연구 (Exploratory Case Study for Key Successful Factors of Producy Service System)

  • PSS(Product Service System) 시스템은 제품과 서비스가 하나로 통합되어 고객에게 차별화된 가치를 제공하고, 기업이 경쟁력을 가지고 지속적인 성장을 할 수 있게 지원하는 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 PSS 시스템으로 성공한 Amazon의 Kindle과 Apple의 iPod, 실패한 Microsoft의 Zune과 Sony의 e-book reader를 채택하여 중다 사례연구 방법론을 통해 성공요인과 실패요인을 도출하고자 한다. 이를 위하여, 사례 분석을 통해 가설을 도출하고, 연관 문헌연구와의 비교 및 분석을 통하여 PSS 시스템에서 상업적으로 성공하기 위한 전략적 시사점을 제시하였다.
