This study aims to investigate the current status of young adult services centering on public libraries in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam, identify problems, and then suggest tasks for service revitalization. The status of young adult services and librarians' perceptions in the 93 public libraries in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam that were registered in the 2021 National Library Statistics System and the Busan Metropolitan City Library Portal was investigated. As a result of the survey, 24% of public libraries have a space for young adult, and if there is dedicated space, it was found that the most number of bookshelves for young adult were installed inside the space. Libraries that provide young adult services accounted for 76% of the total, and the age range of the service targets was set between 13 and 18 years of age. The analysis revealed that it was difficult to provide services due to a combination of problems such as poor use and passive participation by young adult, lack of dedicated space, lack of manpower for program operation, and lack of budget. Nevertheless, most librarians agreed on the need to provide young adult-only spaces and young adult services. The tasks to revitalize young adult services in public libraries was suggested; expand young adult participation in the space creation and service planning/operation stage, create a space dedicated to young adult, diversify the contents of youth volunteer activities, secure the professionalism of the librarian in charge, human resource utilization, and expand public relations for services.

Young adults are not met adequately by the traditional public library service patterns, being compared for children and adults even though they belong to the main user groups in number. Adolescence is a unique developmental stage distinct from childhood and adulthood and it is fair to say that today's young adults face complex present and confusing future. Projects are made to address the full spectrum of the young adults needs and the important role of public libraries as partners to solve the social youth problems in the USA. The library professional organizations issued young adult service guidelines, recommendations, and manuals to assist public libraries to offer good service programs to young adults. This paper provides the basics of young adult services in the public libraries to help Korean public libraries acknowledge the importance of young adult services and improve the framework of young adult services.

Through the close examination of characteristics of adolescent, social institutions and its programs, and newly added and expanded library reference services. it is founded that new role and qualifications of young adult reference librarians are prerequisite subject. The following are the summary of new role and qualifications of specialized young adult reference librarianship. 1. Adequate training and education for the YA librarians is needed in order to have understanding of their characteristics (physiology, psychology, personality etc.). 2. Because of librarian's unique exposure to human relations and their personal awareness of other people's need, YA librarian should bring a person-centered managerial technique. 3. Librarianship may not have a clinical counseling function but to provide right answer or information, the librarian become counselor inescapably. 4. Librarians are not professionally trained to be experts on counseling in sex education. However, librarians can play an important role in educating YA by committing book selection, reader's advisory, referral services, library programming and staff development planning.

Previous studies on the host plant range of Metcalfa pruinosa were conducted without distinguishing between its stages of development. In this study, we investigated host plants by studying the nymph and adult development stages of M. pruinosa. M. pruinosa nymphs were found on host plants that belong to 78 families and 227 species, and, to the best of our knowledge, host plants that belong to 27 families and 38 species have been reported for the first time. The host plants were divided into woody and herbaceous at the nymph stage of M. pruinosa, and the nymphs were found in 110 herbaceous and 117 woody species. M. pruinosa adults were found on host plants that belong to 87 families and 233 species, and, host plants that belong to 26 families and 36 species have been reported for the first time. The host plants were divided into woody and herbaceous at the adult stage of M. pruinosa, and the adults were found in 105 herbaceous and 128 woody species. Therefore, the total domestic host plant of M. pruinosa was 98 families 345 species. The nymph and adult in preoviposition stage prefer Helianthus annuus and the adult in oviposition stage prefer Persicaria tinctoria and Rosa rugosa.

Purpose: Focus group interviews were conducted to explore the current status and barriers of health care services in nursing home from the viewpoint of staffs taking care of nursing home residents. Methods: A qualitative thematic analysis using the focus group interview method was used. A total of 32 health care professionals (19 nurses and 13 social workers) from thirteen nursing homes in South Korea attended (5 focus groups) in 2014. Results: The two main themes were identified: 'minimal health care services that left personal care needs unmet' which has three subthemes of 'stereotyped and fragmented care by types of care providers', 'medically-oriented health care services' and 'health care services mixed with social or recreational programs'; and 'barriers to proper and timely care in nursing homes' with four subthemes including 'unmet care needs due to cognitive dysfunction or lack of expression', 'care guides or tools not suitable for long-term care facilities', 'health care needs that are beyond the facility's care boundary', and 'care delay due to lack of understanding on the older adult's status'. Conclusion: The findings from this study should help health care policy makers to recognize the factors that influence health care services and provide direction for nurses and other staffs involved in supporting health care services for nursing home residents.

The purpose of this study is to identify adult learners' decision making variables, satisfaction, and evaluation toward fashion education as a university lifelong education program. As decision making variables, this study included participation purpose, information source, and selection criteria for lifelong education center and program. Regarding satisfaction toward fashion education, this study included satisfaction toward program and satisfaction toward education condition and administrative services. Data were gathered by both questionnaires and focus group interview(FGI) with 12 adults who completed the program. While questionnaires were used for decision making variables and satisfaction, FGI was used for evaluation. Frequency was used to analyze the questionnaires and content analysis was used to analyze the results of FGI. The findings showed that respondents participated mostly because of hobby or interest and got information mostly from acquaintances. They regarded program contents as the selection criteria for lifelong education center. They also regarded lecturers' professionality as the selection criteria for the program and showed high satisfaction toward lecturers' passion. Regarding education condition and administrative services, they showed high satisfaction. FGI also showed the importance of individual competence, career development, a work-study program, a on-site study program, and lecturer. The results suggest methods to make university lifelong education programs more appealing to adults who want to attend universities for non-degree university programs.

This study aimed to investigate the current state and suggest future directions of children's and young adult literature education in Library and Information Science(LIS) departments in Korean universities. Courses related to children's and young adult literature in 34 LIS departments in Korea were investigated, and in-depth interviews and surveys were conducted with professors and instructors who have experience teaching courses related to children's and young adult literature in LIS departments. The results show there are on average 1.7 courses related to children's and young adult literature in undergraduate programs. 36% of schools had less than one course related to children's and young adult literature, and most of them were Reading Guidance courses. 83%(24 out of 29 people)of the survey participants said they teach children's and young adult literature in their classes. The professors and instructors spent the most of their lecture time on picture books. They spent the minimum time on genres such as SF, Fantasy, and manhwa. Lack of time to teach so many things in short 16 weeks made them feel rushed and distressed. Some survey respondents regarded themselves as non-experts in children's and young adult literature, even though they had competency in that field, which shows the general atmosphere in the LIS field that LIS people are not qualified enough to be experts in children's literature. All interviewees and some survey respondents insisted children's and young adult literature education in the LIS departments should be practical. Professors and instructors tried their best to incorporate diverse teaching methods, including discussions, storytelling, writing reviews, so their students can acquire proper knowledge on children's and young adult library services.

This study was designed to develop e-Learning multimedia contents to provide the first aid rescuer with the basic resuscitation, members of the public, corporations and any other institutions who wish to learn this skills. It is carried out from October to December in 2001. This program was constructed on the basic of the network-instructional system Design model, this model has severalprogressive steps, which includes the planning, analysis of the contents, development of the contents, instructional design, development of web-based and multimedia, pilot test, implement, and evaluation. The URL of this site is http://www.cyber.hc.ac.kr named as the cyber education program for the basic resuscitatingskill. This contents consisted of 8 chapters providing as follows : Introduction, anatomy and physiology of heart-ling, Adult Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, Adult Foregin-body Air-Obstruction, Child Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, Child Foregin-body Air-Obstruction, Infant Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, Infant Foregin-body Air-Obstruction. To make the learning more interesting, as much animation and videos were integrated. In conclusion, this e-Learning multimedia contents will be useful for student as well as members of the public. It significantly increases the chances of saving the life of person who has collapsed.

Striped flea beetle, Phyllotreta striolata (SFB) and turnip sawfly, Athalia rosae ruficornis (TSF) are two economically important sporadic pests in radish fields on Jeju island. The response of adult SFB and TSF to a mixture of aggregation pheromone, (+)-(6R,7S)-himachala-9,11-diene and host plant volatile, allyl isothiocyanate (HAI), as well as to yellow and blue sticky traps was examined in radish fields. Adult SFB was more attracted to the sticky trap with HAI, regardless of the color of the sticky trap; however, adult TSF was more attracted on the yellow sticky trap than blue, and no effect of HAI was observed. The adult SFB and TSF can be effectively monitored using yellow sticky traps placed 10 cm above the plant canopy. SFB and TSF had 3 and 5 peak times in a year, respectively. The first peak occurred in the middle of March for SFB and mid-late of April for TSF. We expect that the results of the present study can facilitate minimizing the damage caused by the two important pests in commercial radish fields.

This study evaluates YALSA's Competencies for Librarians Serving Youth: Young Adults Deserve the Best announced at the Young Adult Library Services Association(YALSA), a division of the American Library Association(ALA) on January 2010. For this study, we investigated fifth librarians working at the National Library of Korea to find out the requirements, effectiveness, and difficulties regarding seven areas and forth-eight detailed qualifications indicated by YALSA's Competencies for Librarians Serving Youth through survey. The results show that the more important areas required for youth services librarians were identified as knowledge of materials, administration, leadership and professionalism. Difficult areas of competencies are communication, marketing and outreach. Analysis of forty-eight detailed qualifications according to their importance and the level of difficulty shows that the more important areas are A4(encourage young adults to become lifelong library users by helping them to discover what libraries offer, how to use library resources, and how libraries can assist them in actualizing their overall growth and development) and A1(develop and demonstrate leadership skills in identifying the unique needs of young adults and advocating for service excellence, including equitable funding and staffing levels relative to those provided for adults and children), while the most difficult area of competencies is C4(Design, implement, and evaluate a strategic marketing plan for promoting young adult services in the library, schools, youth-serving agencies and the community at large).
