  • Currently, cloud computing technology is being supplied in various service forms and it is becoming a ground breaking service which provides usage of storage service, data and software while user is not involved in technical background such as physical location of service or system environment. cloud computing technology has advantages that it can use easily as many IT resources as it wants freely regardless of hardware issues required by a variety of systems and service level required by infrastructure. Also, since it has a strength that it can choose usage of resource about business model due to various internet-based technologies, provisioning technology and virtualization technology are being paid attention as main technologies. These technologies are ones of important technology elements which help web-based users approach freely and install according to user environment. Therefore, this thesis introduces software-related technologies and architectures in an aspect of grid for building up high availability cloud computing environment by analysis about cloud computing technology trend.

  • e-Science Service Integration Workbench is the core tool that enables IT-based computation and engineering researchers to collaborate their research activities via data sharing, by semi-automatically supporting the activities. Workbench provides the researchers with a scientific workflow by establishing the environment that is capable of finding, registering, composing, and executing services-legacy codes wrapped with grid services or web services-they need to use. In other words, designing their scientific workflow through the workbench, they can receive or share its final result with their collegues by submitting jobs they describe to computational resources such as supercomputers or grids or requesting an experiment. In this paper, we propose an implementation architecture of e-Science Service Integration Workbench to support grid services of Grid Middleware.

  • In this paper, we tried to enable a mobile device as a resource to access to mobile grid networks. By advanced Internet techniques, the use of mobile devices has been rapidly increased. Some researches in mobile grid computing tried to combine grid computing with mobile devices. However, according to intrinsic properties of mobile environments, mobile devices have many considerations, such as mobility management, disconnected operation, device heterogeneity, service discovery, resource sharing, security, and so on. To solve these problems, there are two trends for mobile grid computing: a proxy-based mobile grid architecture and an agent-based mobile grid architecture. We focus on a proxy-based mobile grid architecture with IP-paging, which can easily manage idle mobile devices and grid resource status information. Also, we use SIP(Session Initiation Protocol)to support mobility management, mobile grid services. We manage variation of mobile device state and power by paging cache. Finally, using the candidate set and the reservation set of resources, we perform task migration. The performance evaluation by simulation, shows improvement of efficiency and stability during execution.

  • This study was conducted to develop a multiple-item scale for measuring the food service quality in the restaurant industry. For developing the scale, Kelly Repertory Grid Methods were conducted. Collected data of food service quality were analyzed with the reliability analysis and the factor analysis of SPSS 12.0 and the 3rd-order confirmatory factor analysis of LISREL 8.70. The food service quality model of this study is conceptually based on the Brady and Cronin(2001)'s hierarchical approach to the service quality model. The hierarchical model of the food service quality which comprises three constructs of the physical environment quality, the interaction quality and the food quality as a primary dimension. The hierarchical approaches to the food service quality help overcome the limitations of the SERVQUAL model for which some arguments have been made that it lacks a clear division between the dimensions and its subsequent overlapping between them.

  • Grid computing is a service that share geographically distributed computing resources through high speed network. In this paper, we propose hybrid scheduling scheme which considers not only meta-scheduling scheme to distribute the job between the nodes of grid computing system but also the job scheduling to distribute the job within the local nodes. According to the number of processors needed and expected execution time, the job with high priority is allocated to job queue while the one with low priority and remote job are allocated to backfill queue. We evaluate the proposing scheme through the various experiments and the results show that the utilization of grid computing system increases and the job slowdown decreases.

  • The smart grid can create benefits such as the expansion of consumer choice and flexibility enhancement, adaption to future electric power industry change and the increasing use of renewable energy sources. Consumers can make a contribution to improve the overall effectiveness of system through active receptive response. They can enhance the energy consumption efficiency based on more information from service providers. The Smart Grid Promotion Act, which was enacted in April 2011, contains consumer protection provisions such as information collecting, sharing, and protection measures. On this reason, it is needed to expand promotion and education regarding the smart grid to improve the consumer awareness, and the schemes to enhance smart grid consumer acceptance should be established.

  • Grid makes it possible to cooperate with other network area by sharing and using distributed resources. In order to manage effectively large-scale Grid network resources, Grid NOC needs monitoring architecture that can manage distributed resources in one time. Being restricted within specific managing area, conventional network management system has limitation in extension of managing area and in general management of heterogeneous resource. In this paper, we design a monitoring architecture that can take in the situation and has scalability. In the monitoring architecture the network areas publish information in a common directory service, and then Grid NOC can connect to the network areas directly by using this information. Therefore, it makes us possible to manage overall large-scale resource of Grid network reducing load.

  • As power grids are integrated into one big umbrella (i.e., Smart Grid), communication network plays a key role in reliable and stable operation of power grids. For successful operation of smart grid, interoperability and security issues must be resolved. Security means providing network system integrity, authentication, and confidentiality service. For a cyber-attack to a power grid system, which may jeopardize the national security, vulnerability of communication infrastructure has a serious impact on the power grid network. While security aspects of power grid network have been studied much, security mechanisms are rarely adopted in power gird communication network. For security issues, strict timing requirements are defined in IEC 61850 for mission critical messages (i.e., GOOSE). In this paper, we apply security algorithms (i.e., MD-5, SHA-1, and RSA) and measure their processing time and transmission delay of secured mission critical messages. The results show the algorithms satisfying the timing requirements defined in IEC 61850 and we observer the algorithm that is optimal for secure communication of mission critical messages. Numerical analysis shows that SHA-1 is preferable for secure GOOSE message sending.
